  • Hello Super Friends. I get requests from people asking to see this or that custom Batman from time to time so I figured today I'd throw together a simple video sharing my collection of Custom Kitbased Batman action figures based on Mattel body bucks. I'm not the greatest but I try my best and I sure hope it encourages others to try customizing figz too.

      Never occurred to me to make Killing Joke Batman articulated. I used that cape on that buck with a Jim Lee head and Direct belt to make a HUSH Mattel Batman instead. Except my cape was technically taken from Hugo Strange Unmasked. Still looks awesome.

    Lots of great customs Brad! 5:00 I don't know why, but a solid bat with blue cowl and black trunks looks so good imo. 9:02 I like that method! It makes the cape and cowl more seamless like we see in comics and animation. 11:47 looks quite nice too; I wish Batman kept the purple cape after Rebirth, it just pops so well!

    I really enjoy seeing your custom Batman figures. I'm currently working on my own Batman figure. The body I'm using is the Mattel Batman Legacy black and gray outfit Batman. Both the head and cape are from the DC Direct Batman Incorporated Batman. But, I'm looking to replace his gloves with the DC Collectibles Greg Capullo Batman.

    Buy a can of dullcoat (literal name) from hobby lobby or anywhere online. It's actually made for use on just about every plastic since it's designed for models, toys, statues, etc. Give light short bursts from about 8-12" away over whatever you're sealing or just flattening the shine on. Does wonders for figures making them instantly look more high end. Those cans of matte "acrylic" clear coat/sealer they sell in the craft sections of stores like Walmart and target are horrible on most plastics causing a chemical reaction( it's actually really toxic even though all you'll really notice is it making paint soften/run, the weird almost sticky feel after it has dried and slight softening of the plastic) and work better as paint stripper and brush cleaner than anything else.i keep a can of that cheap stuff around for removing old dried on paint from brushes and for removing tiny bits of overspray from things like figures faces using an extremely small amount on a fine detailing brush that's been cut to suit my needs. things like dc collectible figures ear holes, lips,etc.

  • @lancemaltby895
    @lancemaltby895 Před 3 lety

    That was fun! I don't remember the details, but the figure at 11:20 was my favorite. A couple things I was wondering, what do you do for joint pegs if it happens that it was broken or lost somehow? Also, how do you apply paint so that there are no brush marks? If these sound like rookie questions, it's because I am a rookie. I've only done repairs so far.

    Hello brad, I wanted to ask if you could make a video on your thoughts on the multiverse 4 inch line from a few years ago it was mostly based off the Arkham series of games but there were figures of Christopher reve super man and Michael Keaton Batman as well. Anyways I wanted to know your thoughts on this line if you’ve even heard of it I think it’s super underrated and it’s most certainly one of my favorite lines Mattel has done with the dc license If you’ve read this thank you and have a great day.

    13:55 Is the Multiverse '89 Batman the same as the Grayson Batman earlier at 13:08, where underneath the collar/neckpiece is a peg and not a whole neck? Cuz I was hoping to give it a new upper torso, particularly the Multiverse Nightwing's.

  • @leepicciotto
    @leepicciotto Před 4 lety

    If you don't buy dull coat designed for models/figures and try and use those cheap clear coat cans they sell at places like Walmart, thinking it should be okay because it's acrylic you're going to ruin whatever you spray it on. Not only will it make the paint run, feel sticky and never dry on the figure you spray it on, it also causes a chemical reaction that's toxic. Get yourself some fine tipped gundam pens or equivalent from testers, model masters, etc for fine drawn on details, a set of primary color acrylics from one of the mentioned companies, a bottle of basic flesh tone, old make up your wife,gf,etc doesn't use anymore and a can of spray dull coat and you're good to go. Oh and a pack of toothpicks. One last tip, for simple soft good items like t-shirts and basic pants, Barbie doll clothing sets are your friend. They're only a few bucks a pack, fit 1/12 figures great and are made to handle a little bit more wear and tare. People paying 30 bucks for plain pants or a tshirt for an action figure are wasting their money. Get creative.

    • @Arrowdodger
      @Arrowdodger Před 4 lety

      Eh, it's not like he doesn't also have MEZCOs that are relatively unchanged. Besides, I can see him being more into the proportions of some of the mattel figures, on account of MEZCO makes everyone a bit Wolverine-shaped, all stumpy.
