    Massive congrats! I've got 2 boys and found in the early years that you take the runs when you can get them, even if they are short. You may not get to train as much as you'd like, but that's okay. Enjoy the juggle and learn to find the sweet spot between family and running

    Brand new dad here as of 2 weeks ago! Having a supportive partner is the number one key to juggling quality training and supporting the family

    congrats Harry! ultrarunner Dad here.i want to be totally honest, you are going to have to make some sacrifices. there is nothing more rewarding than raising a child but it's not about you anymore. make sure you have tons of time. at first it's all about basic needs but later make sure he/she gets lots of time to explore and move around. i dont like to see runners who trap their child in a jogging stroller for hours and hours while they get their miles in and the kid just sits there either zoning out or wanting to get out and explore. keep your treadmill handy, you will need it when he/she goes down for a nap. again congrats, you are going to be a great Dad and if it means sacrificing something take it in stride and later you will be crushing the competition when you are older!

    Massive congratulations to you both. As someone who runs and is a dad I would say remember your partner is going to be shattered by both giving birth and the sleep deprivation your both going to go through so check on her often and make sure she’s ok when you go out for a run. Best of luck!

    Congratulations on the new baby! Being a father of 2 with one being 16 months I can say always plan for the unexpected :) it’s such a fun journey but take it slow and enjoy it. It took some time to get my guy comfortable in the running stroller but by 1 he would sit and enjoy 4-5 miles with ease. It takes time to adjust but your windows of opportunity to get out will feel that much better. Congratulations!

    Congrats! Wifey should be very understanding to get your usual quality training. 2 weeks new born baby for me just running in maintenance for now. Sleep deprivation is expected. All the best! I’m sure you can do both well 👏🏼👶🏻🏃🏻‍♂️

    Congratulations, training with a baby (from a running mum perspective) for a dad is really not that bad, for the first year they sleep a lot so go when they sleep also give your partner a break and road run with the push chair, you will get some good resistance training and lots brownie points. The toughest part is when they grow up a bit between 2 and 5ish, it is hard because they really are full on and you always feel like you are missing lots when you are gone for a long time. You will work it out, be kind to yourself and your partner, make deals between you, work as a team enjoy.

      Absolutely! I feel the same way man. I was always a structured runner but I get much more enjoyment out of pushing my guy with me now and enjoying the moment

    Its super tough to find the time post-baby. Also strangely tough emotionally to still want to be gone that much. I just want to be with the baby a lot! I took up hiking during lunch, working out at home while baby naps, and generally accepting a change in my routine. The first 8 weeks are just a “marathon” of learning and struggling but it gets a lot better and easier after that.

    I just changed when i train to nap times and evening, if you eat well you wont suffer too much with parent sleep, you adapt and it becomes the norm just like getting used to running further and further, get your mobility and stretching in when your playing in the living room, Thomas now jumps on me when i foam roll, extra pressure haha, good luck mate,

    Congratulations man, great news. Once bubs is a few months old have a off road pram that can have a capsule on and run on flat smooth pavement to protect against bumping and shaking of the little ones head. I also have a towel rolled up to splint the head. Keep to the smooth though as theoretical risk of shaken baby syndrome if you take off road while running. But every parent learns as they go, just enjoy the experience 😀

      Also having a carry pack with bubs in and power hiking steep climbs, great for strength training

    The only way I get it done is to wake up at whatever time I need to get the run in before baby wake time (6-7am). If I don’t do this, it’d have to be after bed time, but then you are taking time out of when you would hang out with your partner. I’ve been able to get 6-7hrs or sleep with this routine, and you get your night running skills up at the same time

    Aww congrats mate. I dont want to give you all the negatives, but having our second baby my partner needed more support, so running went down the priorities, I put on 2 stone and lost all my speed and consistency. My vlog these days is all about balancing life and running. But hey that's just us, I know plenty of dads that train hard and compete hard and you will find what works for you :-) congrats again:-)

    Awesome video as always! My 3rd is 3 months old now and I’ve managed to keep up 60 mile weeks by basically going out super early when he wakes up! My rule is if he wakes up after 4.30am I’ll get up and go out and get it done so I can be there throughout the day! Right now I don’t want to be away from him when he’s awake, it’s absolutely magical... you’ll both love it!

    Hi Harry, thanks for the video! I'm wondering if there's a good way of gauging how sore I'm supposed to be. I've only recently (past 6 months) begun taking running seriously and am working to increase mileage. However, I find my shins and particular muscles, like calves, are almost always sore - even after 1-2 rest days. It never fully reaches injury territory, but is worrying me enough to write this comment :) any thoughts?
