From Trail to Road = Injured | Cardiff Half Marathon 2019

- Being my hometown half I decided to run Cardiff Half Marathon after a summer of racing mountain ultras and no specific road training. But pulling up with a calf injury a few days ahead of the race I knew I'd have to take it easy, I went along anyway for a bit of fun and to enjoy the atmosphere. I'd never advocate running injured, but with no races ahead of me and an off season planned I was willing to take the risk and take things easy to avoid aggravating things further.

Great video Harry, you've inspired me to start a challenge for myself to run my first ultra next year. From non runner to ultra runner, fingers crossed it turns out okay! 😂
This videos are like unreal because I follow you for years and you went off CZcams for a while but I followed you on Strava and now I have everything revealed how it transpired plus I can see the places, it’s like a flashback 😂
People: take car to travel to start of half marathon
Harry: runs to the start of half marathon
Check out Dean Karnezes run to runs and other exploits. These ultra runners are odd bread. :-)
100% that was a goal of mine for 2020, to 'fail' more in my running events/races, meaning to try and give it my all, and if it doesn't work out on that day, so be it, it'll be a good practice. You never see your potential unless you try. Nice video and message Harry
Nice one Harry. Thanks for sharing. I would be exhausted if I did that warm up before the race
Connecting with other people is a great thing about running. I know I'll never win anything. It's about the people and the atmosphere!
Yeah definitely, it's a great community. I love it after a race where everybody just chats with anybody, about their experience..
@@wildweaseljjlost Right! Just hanging out!
.....just shows the importance of training on multiple surfaces👍
Great video! Been living in Cardiff almost a year now and was hoping to do the half this year but we know what's happened since. Seeing the Bay is nice too, haven't ventured down to Bute Park or the Bay since covid hit - sticking to the roads and trails to the north of the city, so at some point I might bump in to you on the Garth! Stay safe!
Beautiful looking location for a half. I recall running my local 10k after some knee issues, I knew I didn’t show my potential but gave it a shot none the less and I felt it was a rewarding experience
work hard brother, you're doing great! don't get demoralized!
great video Harry. Although I did feel sorry for the lad struggling to keep up with you while you were explaining how injured you still were 😅
Great video! As a road marathoner for the past 5 years, I'm always looking for new tips on motivation, getting stronger and preventing dreaded injuries. This post is very inspirational. As a fellow CZcamsr, I love sharing my experiences and knowledge as well. I know how much goes into these videos! Keep posting - I just subscribed!
Love it...Cardiff you are calling me
Hello Harry. You inspired me to run my first Full Marathon. Thank you so much. I appreciate you 🙏
Damn, it just shows the difference between the level of Harry and someone like me an average bloke. He is running quite a bit fast and it is still his easy pace because he can vlog speaking while running. Long roads to go for me I guess but this is quite an impetus, love your videos man, love from India!
Good to meet you that day, Harry! Looking forward to races coming back at some point! :)
Nice pace given your injury & just enjoying the day. Great video & cool to see you run to the start as well 🤙
Happy to see you back and enjoying the run..
How's the calf feeling? I've been recovering from a calf injury the past few months and im only now getting running again. Wondering how you deal with it. 🙏🏻
Good video, it looks like fun run and Cardiff looks like nice city to run in. Maybe someday I will run there.
Great vid and channel Harry you really inspired me to do more running !
Nice to see a Cardiff Half at pace... I always wonder if it was your easy pace run... or to help you build pace for your next UTMB
Nice video, it looked a good course, i'm sure the weather helped 👍🏃
This has some Jamil Coury vibes!
getting it done!
Could you imagine being injured, having no power in your left leg and still running 78 minutes 😳
Having run what looks like my 5k pace to get there, too!
harry are you using a gopro? Its seems very smooth when you film..
I think you are truly tremendous.
Any tips on preventing shin splint? I struggle with it since my first marathon and can't seem to get rid of it🤨
Quick question for anyone: in trail running, how do you take good care and support of the knee joints?
Wim Hof method
Rebound exercise boots - KANGOO JUMPS??? crash that. i'm making a video right now - show my safety equipment
You stopped putting it content mate?
Some sort of Ultra challenge with Adam Holland (Adam Tango Holland on CZcams) and/or Harry Jones (Harry Runs on CZcams).
Jhon wanted to get under 1:20?? But happy with being just over??!!! Lazy lad 😂
