I think Demi just was the wrong mentor for Jennel. Even after letting her through she changed her entire look. She made Jennel sing more popular rock songs instead of the indie vibe she had going for a while, and she had her change her whole stage presence along with it. By the time Jennel was eliminated, she hardly resembled the girls she was when she first audition. The mentors are supposed to take what they've got, and improve on it, not change it completely. As the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". This is exactly what happened with Jennel. And Demi pointing out the hair thing as a nervous habit. Wouldn't it only make someone more nervous to tell them what they're doing wrong and then be cold about it? It wasn't that Jennel couldn't take criticism, it was just that at this point she had no idea if she was even in, so anything Demi said would make her nervous. The mentors shouldn't just be there to provide harsh criticism -the viewers and critics can do that themselves- the mentors should be a positive support system throughout the competition to help build up the singers' self-esteem. After all, if all celebrities weren't a little over-confident then every bad comment/review would destroy them.
So right. I think Demi was the wrong judge for Jennel too, and she definitely tried to change too much about her. I feel like Jennel would absolutely have made it if Demi went about her mentoring a different way or if she had a new mentor entirely. Wish she could've won. :/

Demi was an awful mentor. She ruined all her acts. Cece came in, super confident with attitude and sass. Demi took all that away from her and gave her such stupid song choices. She did the same with Jennel too. I don't think Paige had much to offer anyway so I wasn't too bothered about her. But she was giving such unnecessary advice, she should have been building them up, not tearing them down.
I feel like Demi gets envious easily :ooo whenever she feels someone has real potential of being successful, it's almost like she's afraid of their success. She does these subconscious passive tricks that DONT help the person and rather trouble the person/make the person feel nervous or bad. I feel like it's because deep down she's a little insecure about herself which makes her worry about others. And it's as if when it comes to people that he deems not a threat, she helps them fully and willingly knowing they won't surpass her.

It is nothing that you guys say. The editors cut and mix scenes to make it more dramatic so maybe Demi wasnt even doing that face at 2:10 when she was siging, maybe she did while somelse was siging. You can notice how edited it is in the auditions and the bootcamp sometimes the face expresions of the judges change drastically from one cut to the other while they are singing and it doesnt make anysense at all. In resume, they edit what you see and what they want you to believe to make more "show".

This is Jennel's start of her career so I don't understand how bringing up the fact that Brit and Demi sold world wide albums already comes into play. All I know is that Jennel has star quality already and honestly, I think the hair flipping thing added to her performance in her song. So yeah, I would say that Demi might be a bit jealous or even intimidated because if you think about it, Demi is training singers that could potentially take the spotlight away from her.

Any comments from the people who are judging you can seriously bring you up or down. Those are people that have a high standing in the music industry and what they say generally means a lot more, especially if you look up to them. Plus, it's not like she had time to work on it or anything, like she said, she was told of a problem she probably didn't notice about herself literally minutes before her most important performance to date. That has got to be nerve-racking. Don't judge her on how she reacted when anyone (including you) could have been affected like that.

Very true, it is important to have a thick skin in this industry, and you need to be able to handle criticism but understand she wasn't thinking she was 'perfect' or thought she wouldn't get criticism. Everyone has insecurities and having a thick skin is something you learn, an armor you build over time. It's rarely if ever something that just comes naturally. She's just starting out here (hence being in the X Factor) so she's not used to how the business works, she came from a regular life where it isn't as necessary to have that thick skin. There is no need to call her a baby for being freakin' human. If you can honestly tell me that you could handle the person that could make or break your dream criticizing you even on something small like hair flipping (which really isn't that small as it is kind of a defense mechanism to hide behind your hair or overdo certain movements) and be able to fix it within minutes on top of a performance that could be your one chance to make your aspirations come true then I'll admit defeat.

Yeah I used to be a fan of Demi. This episode showed exactly who she is and it was ugly on her. Jennel was my favorite til Demi became her coach.

Esther Ns Britney has been a performer for a while now and Demi had got her start because of Disney. This is Jennel's start of her career so I don't understand how bringing up the fact that Brit and Demi sold world wide albums already comes into play. All I know is that Jennel has star quality already and honestly, I think the hair flipping thing added to her performance in her song. So yeah, I would say that Demi might be a bit jealous or even intimidated because if you think about it, Demi is training singers that could potentially take the spotlight away from her.
Nicole Drees i like jennel too (otherwise i would have not watch this video). i bring up the fact that they both are already success in the business, because that means they know very well how to handle the competition. they deal a lot with this matter for many years. beside, i am sure jennel will have a different style from brit and demi :)

Omg why is there only hate towards Demi on these comments. Seriously guys Demi liked Jennel and she only gave her an advice. Like Demi said sometimes she does things way too often on stage when she is nervous and she just told Jennel try not to do that too. When Demi is nervous on stage she either forgets the words or she flips her hair way more than most of the time.
And i find it annoying that Jennel was touching her hair ALL THE TIME during her audition. Its okay if you do it once in awhile but not all the time.
Even tho i love Demis hair flips i find them annoying too sometimes or when her hair is on her face so you cant see her face. But my point was that Demi was her mentor it was her job to give advice. And just so you know this show is scripted, Demi is doing what she was told to do. Of course she has her own opinion and advice but i think for excample the producers wanted to send Jillian home. Im pretty sure Demi wanted to get her through.

If you see the new video of Demi, “Simply Complicated” she mentions how she wasn’t ready to be a judge on this show, because she was still facing some issues with herself. That led her to be the way she was with Jennel, probably would have been better if Simon were her judge.

Any comments from the people who are judging you can seriously bring you up or down. Those are people that have a high standing in the music industry and what they say generally means a lot more, especially if you look up to them. Plus, it's not like she had time to work on it or anything, like she said, she was told of a problem she probably didn't notice about herself literally minutes before her most important performance to date. That has got to be nerve-racking. Don't judge her on how she reacted when anyone (including you) could have been affected like that.

But dont go into this industry thinking your perfect and thinking you wont get criticized if you cant handle it when they tell you to make an improvement or change. You have to have a thicker skin in that industry, any fame industry actually. She was a baby about them telling her not to flip her hair. Its not a big deal.
Very true, it is important to have a thick skin in this industry, and you need to be able to handle criticism but understand she wasn't thinking she was 'perfect' or thought she wouldn't get criticism. Everyone has insecurities and having a thick skin is something you learn, an armor you build over time. It's rarely if ever something that just comes naturally. She's just starting out here (hence being in the X Factor) so she's not used to how the business works, she came from a regular life where it isn't as necessary to have that thick skin. There is no need to call her a baby for being freakin' human. If you can honestly tell me that you could handle the person that could make or break your dream criticizing you even on something small like hair flipping (which really isn't that small as it is kind of a defense mechanism to hide behind your hair or overdo certain movements) and be able to fix it within minutes on top of a performance that could be your one chance to make your aspirations come true then I'll admit defeat.

"F" THE JUDGES! THIS WAS A GREAT PERFORMANCE! This was WAAY better than any of the judges did without the back-up and enhancements that they use for their performances! If you were to go one on one with any of your judges PLAYING IT RAW! you would win hands down. don't believe their B.S. They are just threatened , because they know their days are numbered.

I think the hair thing was just jennel loosening up rather than being nervous. Other people was just getting turned on by her. And so demi probably thought it was slutty and lied and said she didn't want her to do it cause she was nervous.when we all know what demi and Nick had. She didn't want jennel flirting with her man.
