While unboxing and reviewing this, I also wanted to be sure to see if it worked with the Genki Covert Dock and other USB devices, which spoiler: no.
If future models add USB/dock compatibility, improve rumble, and prevent system scratches it'd be the best way to play your switch.
I tested this with both my OLED and original Switch with Sonic Superstars, Super Mario Bros Wonder, and a handful of other games over the week! - Hry

Which color did you get? I got crystal red, it was hard to pick. Wanted the emerald green amd zesty orange too.
Got the GameCube purple one, I'm someone that general like blue color but I am also fond of the classic gg color

i’m kinda curious how this would do for rhythm games, if the back paddles are remappable it could be useful for some of the harder project diva songs by giving you 4 extra macros
Yes they are remappable
I’ve customised mine I’ve but a felt back to it so when it fits it doesn’t scratch
The whole thing with the app really makes it seem like these were intended to be used in some crypto nft thing and it was dropped super last minute

Output doesn't output? That's a huge factor into whether I buy or not. I don't play my games outside of streaming or recording often so not being able to use it while recording means it would likely never get used.
Yeah, it's a huge downside. Output lets you use it as a controller while it's docked, but that's it.
Hi Indie. Happy Mario Wonder weekend. I was playing the new Elephant Mario game until I saw you posted this review & first off all thanks for doing these reviews. I have literally never heard of this 3rd party controller until now.
With that said, I like the Indie-colored Gamecube styled deck you got, but the no amiibo, no rumble & no docking into a tv might be a problem. I'm fine without rumble & I almost exclusively play Switch in handheld mode but I love using amiibos, especially in 1st Party Nintendo games (Splatoon, Zelda, Smash Bros, etc.). Maybe I'll check out the Persona Golden controller, but since I already have Persona Golden on a PSVita cartridge (the original console it cane out on before the PC & Switch ports) I might skip on the upcoming Switch port (especially since Switch is only getting stuff from Persona Reload, Golden & Royale but not Revelations or InnocentSin/Eternal Punishment & I'd prefer to have all my Persona games on one console since as of right now most of them are on PlayStation).
With that in mind thanks again for the great review & I hope you, Ayala, Soot, Max & all the other characters from the IndieAlpaca show have a happy Sunday.
(Also I saw that IndieAlpacaPlushie. I'm bummed out that the one I pre-ordered got scrapped because less than 200 preorders were received, but I'm glad at least you have one.)

New viewer here! I'd be very interested in a comparison with the Retroflag "Handheld Controller for Switch". That's what I have now - and I love the Gamecube style sticks on it.
Mu concerns are the scratch potential to the system. My split pad pro have already done some damage, dont want any further scratches on the back. But let me tell you, the scratches on the back are 100% from the nitro deck. Going plastic on the back is a huge mistake, should have been padded with something soft.

100 bucks for a glorified controller? seems pretty cool but I'd rather put that money towards a mod chip and turn it into the best handheld hands down. Easily the biggest deal breaker Is how you can't dock the switch.
It’s $90 for the deck and a case, otherwise it’s $60 for just the deck. It still is a bit pricey but it’s built pretty good.
