- Get ready for an adventure of a lifetime! Before you hit that play button, do a quick Google search of "Cape Flats" in Cape Town, South Africa, and you'll get a glimpse of the exciting journey I'm about to take you on.
As with many of my travel videos, I started by hiring a local guide and/or a taxi driver. And what better way to start the day than with a hearty breakfast of goat tongue? As we ventured into the neighborhood, my guide expressed concern for my safety, but I wasn't deterred.

I told him to wait in the car while I explored on foot with a local man that I just met.
We saw the harsh reality of life in the Cape Flats as we walked around the various hostels, witnessing the disturbing living conditions of up to 16 people crammed into one tiny room. But the most unforgettable moment came when I stepped into an illegal local bar, and every eye in the room was fixed on me. It's no surprise, as tourists and white people rarely venture this deep into the Cape Flats. But soon, the atmosphere shifted, and they started chanting my name, "Chris, Chris, Chris, Chris…" once I bought the first bottle of gin.
It was an incredible day full of new experiences and memories that I'll cherish forever. If you want to immerse yourself in a culture, hop into a taxi, and explore it on foot with a local guide. Follow my journey around the world, where I plan to visit every single country.

Your words are exact. Treat people well, bring positive energy, and the likelihood of something bad happening to you is small. I'm now over 100 countries, and as you can see I go EVERYWHERE and never have I even lost $1 from my pocket.
@@ChrisMustList but be careful Chris just always keep this in mind that there’s Those who don’t care about ur kindness or ur positive energy etc they could see u as a opportunity or assume they can get some sort of money from you being that ur a foreigner. So just always be alert which I’m pretty sure u are but when u go to these dangerous areas always go with a tour guide . Its not always about fear. There are good people all over this country. We live here. We have no reason to go to the Cape Flats, just as most of the people in Cape Flats have no reason to walk around my suburb.

Great vid! I could almost taste the local foods in my mouth! Wondering if you have a backup or plan B just in case things hit the shit? Daylight traveling with a local is a great first defense, but just asking if you have a strategy beyond that?
No alternative strategies. I use my experience as a traveller and the fact that I grew up in a shitty neighbourhood. Therefore I was given street smarts. If you watch my Johannesburg Slums video (video before this), I was out drinking until sunrise solo, without an issue.

You should try visiting no go zones cape flats of cape town the real cape flats such as the ghetto areas yes it might be kind of risky but before going there you should try and get in contact with a guy named Turner Adams he is a well respected ex gang member that would take good care of outsiders such as your self

Looks like this man (Chris) was in Guguletu! which is more of a tourist area. Many white people have visited these areas, I have visited tons of times as a Capetonian.
Try the gang filled areas of Samora Machel, Lavender Hill etc etc!

It wasn't Guguetu, and I have no doubt that white people have visited the whole world. But as you see, the owner of the bar says no tourist has ever entered that bar. That's the topic of today's video. Next time I'm in South Africa I will try all of the areas you mentioned. Have you heard of Hillbrow? Would you walk Solo through that area? I uploaded a video from there, and that is the most dangerous place i've ever walked alone. Really negative feelings just standing and walking in those streets. Yes I have walked the streets of Hillbrow/Braamfontein in JHB as I have walked the streets of Elsiesrivier, Eeersterivier, khayelitsha, Crossroads in Cape Town, which are very dangerous areas at the worst of times. Be careful out there even as a tourist.

The gap between the rich and poor in South Africa and Capetown in particular is HUGE. the old lady living there for 40 years!. Black people in South Africa are really disenfranchised in their own country
I couldn't believe her story. We talked off camera as well. Imagine 40 years living in 1/3rd of a tiny room with strangers. So incredibly hard to imagine.

Lots of whites on the Cape flats but they mostly poor go to any Coloured communities they will be there. Wherever the Afrikaans language is you will find whites and Coloureds.
