I'm starting to let my plants Bush a little more than in previous years. I've realized that pruning down to just a stem or 2, & planting them closer together is really only beneficial for those that have a trellising system set up where they can let their tomatoes grow to 10+ feet. But I don't have that kind of infrastructure set up. So I end up having to top off my plants at about 6-7 foot & a Tomato plant that has only produced about 5-7 clusters of tomatoes. So I'm going to be going back to letting about 4-6 main stems grow, & spacing them a little further apart. That way I can still grow a good # of different varieties, still cuts down on disease by not letting ALL if the suckers grow, & I get a lot more production per sq. ft.

Blue beauty is absolutely stunning to look at and fantastic taste too . I hesitated adding this to my list for 3-4 years because I have space for only 6-7 tomato plants , having grown it last season it blew me away completely.

I ordered $100 worth of good bugs. A kid of lady bugs & green lace wings. The lady bugs were almost all gone with days. I have seen a few still hanging around but definitely not the 2,500 I ordered. So frustrating bc my plants are COVERED in aphids & white flies. I’m in Hot Springs so like you said, with all the rain it doesn’t make sense to spray the neem oil. I’ve also had a horrible problem with slugs. Specially on my strawberries. Hopefully the rain will chill out so these pest will chill out.

I saw another farmer that grew San Marsano tomatoes and I love using them for tomato sauce. I heard about them from a cooking show they are grown in Italy. I buy the cans but they are expensive so I don’t buy them every time I make sauce but they aren’t as acidic as others I’ve used. Missing Arkansas as my parents lived there and they got lots of rain. I live in Arizona and we don’t also I live in the mountains so just rock everywhere, lol. We are in a drought for quite awhile I think. Bless you and your garden.

Use cloning gel. Dip in gel within a few minutes of cutting and put in moist potting or seed starting mix in cell trays (72 count, etc.). Cover with tall clear 1020 dome and mist lightly with water daily. Keep in bright light (not direct sunlight) and you’ll have new plants ready to go in two-three weeks! Harden off before transplanting of course.

I just had to pull 8 tomato plants and maybe more. Tomato potato psyllids. I’m at a loss. I didn’t even consider this pest. I thought that they were just little black elephant and, I guess I was just lacks a days ago about spraying them because I thought oh I had if it’s last year and you know what’s the big deal you get a few aphids. Well I found out the hard way that they are not even and they are Psyllids. They carry a nasty disease or they caused a nasty disease two tomato plants called Psyllid yellows. I have about 20 feet of potatoes planted not very far from them and I’m hoping that my name oil comes in time because I’m going to need to treat the next round of plants that I put in or I’m going to have an over 1000 sq foot garden with a whole lotta nothing. Nature can be a cruel mistress sometimes. Has anybody in the chat dealt with this past or have had seasons like this it seems like none of my plants are doing well and I spent a lot of money trucking in super soil and laying mulch and digging in the garden by hand it would just be a shame to come up with a few handfuls of food. Although a few handfuls of food is better than nothing. Try not to be pessimistic about the season there’s always fall if anything else but I’m a little on the bottom side and I figured I’d ask around and see if anyone else experienced things or losses like this

Jill, please don't think I'm trying to be a know it all, because I promise I'm not. But I just was noticing how that "little slug" was moving along and he was faster than what I'm used to seeing them go. It makes me wonder if it was a small/ young catapillar? To me a slug at any size reminds me of a (please forgive this graphic description 🤢) slimy, sno**y, nose innard that is slow like a snail and will leave behind a shiny trail! For real! 😀😃😂💯
If I'm wrong and just didn't get a good look, please excuse the question. And just tell this ole lady, Don't worry, I got this!😇
