This is a personal video of mine. That my younger kung fu brother, put on the Internet for about five minutes, before we told him to take it down. There’s another part to this whole thing where , Ip Chun prefoms baat jaam do. And other things aswell. He Felt that the world should know what was being said about William Chung. There is a lot more personal conversation. So I told him to take it down because it might offend. Also we have made an agreement with Ip Chun not to put it up. So when you got this, to me you got lucky.

I dont doubt that Cheung had skill and attributes. But his story about being the sole inheritor of a secret traditional Wing Chun that can only be passed onto one person is completely ridiculous. And he wasn't allowed to talk about it until after Ip Man's death. Pretty convenient that the only guy who could confirm his story was dead.

It is my belief that Sifu Cheung most likely learned a version of Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun and further varied it at a point in time after studying in Ip Man’s school. A comparison of 3 styles of SNT including Moy Yat, Hung Fa Yi and Sifu Cheung’s version can be seen on ‘SNT Comparisons KFT’ on CZcams.

@@philosopher0076 I think this is a reference to the male heir standing on the left-hand side of the father, on his heart side. But in the photo WC is standing on the right which signifies the opposite: the feminine, subordinate, or guest. Compared to say the photos of Bruce Lee and Ip Chun, BL is standing on the left side of IC on his heart side.
      i.e.
Xu Zheng’s book Wu Yun Nian Li Ji, written during the Three Kingdoms period, states that:
“The sun and the moon for the Chinese nation were creations from Pangu’s eyes. The sun god was Pangu’s left eye and the moon god was Pangu’s right eye. This was the origin of the traditional Chinese custom of ‘male left, female right.'”

I can't attest to the Ip children's skill. But they did not reunite with father until about 1962. The best Ip Man students in my opinion were all trained in the 1950s, and some of the worse were trained after. As far as William Cheung being lazy. Look at pictures of William Cheung in the 1980s. He has a body similar to Bruce Lee. William Cheung is still giving seminars and teaching to this day.

  • @kaiya2

This clip makes Ip Chun look and seem absolutely foolish and jealous as William Cheung had left Hong Kong in 1959 to go to Australia, And Ip Chun didn’t even start his training until 1962 which he said in his own words.
To say William was lazy is absolutely laughable as you just have to look at some of the old photos of William and he is absolutely ripped and shredded unlike Ip Chun who in his own words, said he never had a real fight and looks as though the wind can blow him over as he smokes his pipe.

Ip chun didn't even study with his father until much later when the old man was way past his prime. Ip chun cashed in on his father's fame.

I think he was the one filming Ip Man doing the wooden dummy just before his death. You can see a younger man walking around. Either the younger son or grandson.

My opinion too. No record of Ip Chun as student who practiced wing chun. None of Ip Man's most famous students talked about teaching him anything. And it's well known that Ip Man was not teaching directly. He thought the first students that they had to teach the newcomers. I'm not saying Ip Chun is nat telling the truth about William Cheng. Anyway. We will never know now

@@jasonstewart6192 "To make a living" I believe was the quote to translate the Cantonese given the context of Southern kung fu post imperial collapse, British invasion, Japanese invasion, Communist revolution, leaving Ip Chun's generation as struggling refugees in Hong Kong is hardly about "money" or profiteering as you are implying but that life for them was totally uprooted and people had to do what they could to get by. Also with Southern clans there is an elder son duty to preserve clan knowledge, history, legacy, religious practice, etc, especially for aristocratic or noble clans that many Southerners are descended from. In 1960s and 70s Hong Kong knowing kung fu was a kind of social honour like olympian status or knighthood, and most Chinese still see it this way. It was and is hardly a means to getting rich running commercial kung fu classes in community centres. An absurd implication.

The irony of Ip Chun calling William Cheung lazy !
William Cheung looked very fit well into his advanced years. He built a large school of students all around the world and was way ahead of his time in regards to marketing himself. Pretty impressive for the laziest Wing Chun practitioner.
On the other hand, Ip Chun looks like he hasn’t trained one day in his life. All I hear is jealous comments from a couple of “lazy” Wing Chun nerds !
