  • In this video GM Cheung discuss's the birth of Wing Chun Kung Fu and the turbulent times that it emerged from. How he came to meet Bruce Lee and introduce the famous child movie star to Sifu Yip Man and Wing Chun Kung Fu. Dan Inosanto Bruce Lee's friend and student remembers the affection that Bruce Lee had for Sifu Yip Man and how with regret Sifu Yip Man had to pass Bruce Lee's training over to William Cheung and Wong Shun Leung because of Bruce not being of full Chinese decent. GM Cheung remembers teaching Bruce Lee Wing Chun and how the young Lee had in fact influenced him with his dedication to mastering simple techniques to build a good foundation. GM Cheung reminisces about his first meeting with Sifu Yip Man at a challenge match between Sifu Yip and Wong Shun Leung! and how this incident led him to joining the Wing Chun school. This would eventually lead to personal instruction from the Grandmaster in Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu the art that was passed down to Sifu Yip from Yip's second Master Leung Bik. Robert Downey JR introduces the final section of this video documenting the return of Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu to the Shaolin Temple Ordained by Venerable Abbot Shi YonGxin.
    Hope you enjoy the video!

Great video! I’ve been doing WC on and off since the mid 80’s. TWC is the lineage I stuck with in mid 90’s.(absolutely love it!).
I train in other arts as well (boxing,MT, JJ) but I Still practice when I can. TWC holds a place in my heart and always will.

Touched hands with this man. You can not feel him until he strikes..
Totally relaxed non-telegraphic (chi sao). If that's what Bruce meant by "Be like water my friend", then I get it.

It was GM Wong Sheung Leung who taught Bruce Lee. Lee's parents were Chinese Opera performers they moved to the US and supposedly Bruce Lee received additional training from a Red Boat WC Sifu. GM William Cheung and Bruce Lee tested themselves in Hong Kong on the streets against some tough people. The MMA people who say WC doesn't work it's proved itself over 4oo year.

TWC needs to stop using the term *"modified"* and instead use term *"mainstream"* wing chun for the more popular and majorly known lineages. If TWC people did that they'd be a bit more respected.

Size doesnt matter what you give to it is what you get out of it. You should research Sifu Shannon Moore. He is a big guy but no one can touch him. He is also within Grandmaster William Cheungs Lineage
