The spoon shopping intro was hilarious! 😆
I had that video on my laptop for a while now
Agreed! You can never have enough spoons!
Great to see even the maestro makes a pigs ear of choosing the wrong paint, and I thought I was the only one. I bought this Green Stuff World primer and got the same results, so it's not the maestro's fault. He's still top of his game though. We always watch his videos with great envy of our cousins across the pond.👍
Man almost 100k!!! I keep spreading the word. Let’s all push to get this channel to 100k!
Your lips to God's ears
Yes sir, 100k is the goal, and its coming.
I spray my chrome over a gloss clear coat while its still wet and not cured. Once the gloss clear cures, it makes the chrome very durable. Gloss black paint/primer dose not harden the way a gloss clear coat does. And spraying gloss clear over the chrome will dull the shine. Spray the chrome directly after spraying the gloss clear.
Which clearcoat and chrome do you use? I would of thought the chrome would sink into the wet clearcoat and become more matt
You've given me a whole springboard from which to jump into the world of painting, man. I can't thank you enough for your fantastic videos. I'm having a blast with my airbrush thanks to you!
Great review as always my friend Thank you for sharing. Everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy and remember to SMILE 😊God Bless 🙏
Dude, the Walmart scene was aces! Reminds me of the 90s and that big blue, nigh invulnerable wonder, the Tick!
Thanks buddy, I shot that a while ago and found it on a hard drive.
@@barbatosrex9473 HA!
I’m dying from the start with buying all the spoons!!! I really like GSW chromes. Still use Alclad, but GSW more and more.
That was the best cold-open ever!
I shot that a while ago, I forgot I had it
I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos. Thanks very much. Your content is really inspiring.
Thank you my friend
I can not wait for you to make a channel where you do builds and The likes
You gotta love the the pistol grip airbrushes. They are so ergonomic. I have the iwata trn1 and the trn2
Thanks Robert for the nice little informative video an thank you for your time and effort you put into the videos and make for us 👍👍
Awesome review, always keeping us in the know. Thank you.
Every time you do metal paints I get new ideas. To me the paints are always a success.
Thanks Robert for this chrome and gloss black base, paint test. Very interesting results.
Have a great weekend.
I don't think I have ever said this to anyone before, but Sir., you are such a nice and gentle man. I really enjoy, not only your videos, but your personality as well. I am waiting for my first airbrush kit to arrive (Timbertech, Amazon,) and you are helping me a LOT to skip the newbie phase. Thank you Sir.
Seeing the start of the video, all I could think of was the super hero the Tick and his battle cry of 'Spoon!'
Thank you. I've never been a fan of acrylic paint
Very enlightening assessment, also found some of the comments very interesting. Thank you.
You're welcome Daniel
GSW proved that they can make their Chrome (airbrush) better by making it even better by making a Gloss primer. Thanks for the video review, Robert!
It works really well as a primer for acrylic color shift paints.
You keep going with this kind of testing, and I just might get convinced to switch to acrylic paint. I have been committed to enamels and lacquers for years but with your tests and videos, I am learning.
I just started using the Badger acrylic primer (I'm not going to try spelling it LOL), I picked up a bottle of their gloss black primer to play with for this exact reason. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Great review!
The Stynylrez is very good. It says it doesn't need thinning but I recommend you thin it slightly for much better results
Great video as always, thanks for doin these test so we modelers don’t have to!
I need to get that paper for my pace spray booth lol had my for almost 2 years and just been cleaning it the hard way
Nice video again! I have been using the GSW glossy black primer and chrome for a while now. The chrome for me is good , down side for it is if you want to add a clear / candy. the waterbased gloss primer are just lacking in gloss level. It's very hard to get over 60 Gloss units in a waterbased product compared to lacquered. I still like the product untill i find a better one . In a couple of weeks i get a new gloss reader so i can read the acutall gloss levels off all the surfaces. Keep up the great videos sir!
Must be all in this room brilliant stuff!!
Brand new in the model/airbrushing world. I tell ya, ive learned ssooooooo much from you and those spoons. I still have a alot to buy at a ridiculously low budget and you have paved that path for me and for that, i thank you for these videos, information and where to get these products you review. Cant wait for another video. Thabk you and god bless
God bless you too Jody
Its a pity the base didnt as expected. I was looking forward for a replacement for Alclad II Gloss Black Base as it is becoming hard to find for me. Thanks for showing these results.
Whet a great opening loved it
I would go for the outward shelf
Well I guess I'm not the only one rearranging. 👍
Just a heads up. There are 2 Born Paint companies. One is Born Paint Company in Peoria Illinois and is not the one that has the hobby paint. I found the hobby Born Paint at Galactic Toys.
My best chrome results come from using Golden Carbon Black (high flow range) as acryllic underpaint.
I had mixed results when I tried the GSW Gloss Surface Primer. I just use Tamiya TS-14 now.
Awesome review, extremely helpful as always. I'll definitely be picking up some of those paint racks soon.
Bro I just got your Ace series Swallowtail in and it’s amazing
Great video as always!
I've been wanting to see this .. thanks for the video.. you're amazing
As far as any give-aways you might offer. Some plastic spoons would be nice. Somebody bought the entire store out and I can't find any :)
Ha, ha.
I wonder who that was.
90.7 K getting close too 100 K YAHOO
My daily routine before bedtime is watching this ch
Should I sing a lullaby at the end of my videos?
Have similar experiences with the GSW gloss black, so think I'll just keep it for abs parts that I don't wanna melt with lacquer :)
Would be cool if you could test Gaia's ex-black as a base for chrome and candy, japanese modelers seem to get pretty amazing results with it.
Anyway, thanks for the tests and keep up the good work!
Always love your videos with great content. On a side note, I’m newer to airbrushing and trying out some Cerakote paints on projects. Wondering if you have tried them at all or would consider maybe putting together a video of you testing out some. How you would approach everything with an airbrush.
I haven't but get many requests for that. Do you have a brand or link to one I should test
Back to the gloss black Benchhhh!!!
I wish that someday (sooner the better) we can have a Barbatos Rex Paints can make a chrome paint that is better that GSW!
great review kinda diggin when you airbrushed brush paint only finally got my swallowtail today w/fan cap and I'm in heaven thx 😁🤩ps got some more 2k clear but had a difficult time finding the paints i want the website is hard to navigate 🤔scooter d😎
I sure do like that Copper Fire!!!! The Green Stuff World paints are another brand I interested in trying. My question is though, why use such a small tip air brush for chrome? I've never air brushed any chrome yet.
4:30 I'm like should I do like a Ferrari in this color?!
Born chrome has a blue-ish hue to it but is also nice, I wish we could get Born 2 paints is US they are much better than the first version
Really random but have you ever thought of testing out citadel paints ?
SPOONMAN
Robert, again great video. I would like to know is your last name Barbato just like to know because that is my last name. like all of your videos. I do subscribe to your channel. Nice work you will make 100k I am sure.
curious if it would make a difference to add some vallejo gloss medium to the primer?
2:36 modo t-051 miku "green" spotted!!
Is it just me, or have you not tested the regular Tamiya metallics? I keep having issues with Tamiya's Gold Leaf. It comes out grainy. I think I over thinned it.
What do you recommend for natural metal finishes on aircraft?
Soo I picked up my swallowtail the other day, the unfortunate thing is that the day I got it is the day my compressor died.😂😢
Holy shit you might have an answer to the question that was troubling me... My chrome always comes out very grainy, it looks good and chromey but you can see it's kinda grainy. I never expected that this might be caused by the primer.... I use AK Xtreme black base, I will have to try something else and see how it works.
Fir your information, AK makes the worst Gloss Black Base. Check out my video on using Tamiya Spray Can Gloss black TS-14 for your base
@@barbatosrex9473 Thanks! I have the similar expierience as you do, did you try the Tamiya X-1 as a base (the acrylic one)? I was using ALCAD before but it was coming out very orange peely, though I was using an old portable compressor then, I have a good proper one now so maybe I should give it another try. When I think about all that comparing different bases for chrome could make a very interesting video ;) I honestly didn't expect such drastic differences.
GSW’s gloss black primer is disappointing. Sometimes it comes out a semi-gloss or matte. Can’t quite seem to be consistent. If you are painting chrome you want a super glossy finish for reflectivity. Better off using Tamiya TS-15 gloss black.
TS-14
its badger Stynylrez gloss black
Thank you for letting me see not to buy this. So far the best acryllic black base I used is mission model paints.
Can u recomend a good source for the green stuff world items I live in Fall River, Massachusetts. Thank you
I get most of my items from Green Stuff World direct for the company. Even though they are in Spain, they ship hear and at a reasonable price and time. Also they have a store on Etsy. Michigan Toy Soldier also carries GSW products
cashier auntie give u a strange look " what are u gonna do with all those spoons?"
u cannot imagine wats going thru her mind....
So would you go with Pace orrr Robot Kai's kaizo x innovation?
The Pace
@barbatosrex9473 TY! I heard the fan in the 24" super is already good, but in your opinion, would it be worth the extra 190$ to put the bigger 200+cfm fan in it?
I would put the larger fan in 👍
I've never seen SMS Hyper Chrome perform that poorly 😮
No AK SUPER CHROME ❓❓
The sad thing is that while the primer may be of a decent quality, Green Stuff World as a business are an incredibly shady and dubious company that have been stealing from and strong-arming other vendors and product designers in the hobby space for years now by fraudulently abusing the court systems to patent things they don't own. In my opinion the sooner they go under the better it will be for the hobby space as a whole.
Geez I had no idea..
Competition is good for the hobby. Besides I like using some of their products especially their chrome. All is fair in love and war.
@@decadentdave There's a difference between competing with people by launching your own product yourself and fraudulently patenting the designs of others and stealing them. Would you be angry if a random company filed exclusive patents for the paints and panel liners that Barbatos Rex sells and then stopped him from being able to sell them because they got the patent? Because that's what Green Stuff World has been doing to others...
@@NeDlols so don’t buy their products. I’ll buy what I like.
@@decadentdaveLol it kills competition when things like this happen. No one will innovate if that is the case. That is why patents, etc exist..
The Flecks are from the mobius, it's a horrible airbrush with so many issues internally. Gaahleri's quality control is HORRIBLE, bought both mobius, bought the studio g Swallowtail and they all came with issues out of the box.
Metal shavings on the inside and damaged parts, took off to reddit and so many people had the same issues. Their airbrushes look nice, but they all are inconsistent with so many issues out of the box.
They don't listen to complaints, they just send you new ones with the same issues.
Horrible company
Damn acrylics run on the spoon. Very annoying. Acrylic paints are hard to master for newbies.
Yes, I almost gave up airbrushing cause I started with acrylics. Definitely a learning curve where solvent based paints practically paint themselves
Cool as always. 🥄
