  • Upgrade time! Yanking my HEI distributor, and replacing it with a MSD ProBillet 2 wire, to utilize FiTech's built in electronic Timing Control. If you're new to FiTech systems, be sure to watch my install playlist, and ask questions!
    In this video, "How to set up Ignition Timing Control for EFI, Fitech, Sniper - Distributor Lock Out" we go through what type of distributor is required, and exactly how to set it up, by locking out the mechanical advance, installing a phasable rotor, and replacing the steel cam gear with a Composite Gear. Chevy may need a cam button to limit cam end play. Pontiac uses a block mounted plate to limit end play. Neither have anything to do with why you need to run a softer distributor gear on most aftermarket roller cams that come with billet distributor gears. That’s a metal compatibility issue.

    • @FastMonty
      @FastMonty  Před rokem +1

      @@stevebrown6175 Agreed. There's a little bit more shock loading with steeper cam lobs, which can cause havoc for some steel distributor gears... I'm playing it safe on mine, and don't know if a polymer gear exists for Chevy's? Thanks for the comment!

    • @FastMonty
      @FastMonty  Před rokem +1

      If you want to use the timing control built into a Fuel Injection system, Like FiTech, MSD Sniper, etc... the distributor mechanical advance needs to be locked out. That's why you change mounting holes from slotted, to a fixed hole, preventing the mechanical advance to work. Hope that helps.
