CLAN BUCHANAN
BADGE : Dearcag monaidh (vaccineum uligiuosuin) Bilberry.
SLOGAN : Clairinch !
THE name of the Clan Buchanan is almost alone among
those of Highland families in being derived, not from a
personal ancestor, but from the lands on which the Clan
was settled. These lands extended of old along the east
shore of Loch Lomond, from the borders of Drymen parish
northward for some eighteen miles, and included, besides
Ben Lomond itself, as fine a stretch of country strath and
mountain as any in the Highlands. Branches of the
Clan also owned lands in the neighbouring parish of
Drymen, and on both sides of the Water of Endrick...
I’m a Buchanan, and a Gibson 😁
I work for sir Andrew Buchanan , the yellow family crest at the end of the video is on a flag on his property at hodsock priory in Nottinghamshire
I'm a Buchanan my family originated in Mississippi, and my mom told me that our last name was Scottish, and her mom told her.
very cool
Same with my mother. Her side had the Buchanan background but married into the Rogers.
The surname Buchanan descended from one family who lived in a place called Buchanan, in Stirlingshire, Scotland. I have studied the family history extensively so if you have any questions let me know 😊 I'm a direct line Buchanan who can trace my ancestors back to the first Buchanan (and before that) my 18th great grandfather was the first Chief, back in the 12th century. The my dad is named after one of the first Buchanan's too, and my uncles all have family names which have been passed down. If anyone wants help to trace their ancestors back to Scotland let me know (I live pretty close to where the first Buchanan's lived around 800 years ago)
Great Grandmother born in Aberdeen. Jane Cormack. she worked in a bomb factory during ww2 met my grandfather who served in army Air corps there during the war, the rest is history. Proud of my Scottish ancesty and Buchanon clan.
As a McKinley we are a part of Buchanan and two other clans.

I'm a direct descendant of Anna Elizabeth Gibson, who is also a direct descendant of Laird William Gibson
@@npkori5229 does your family originate from Campbell County Tennessee? GL Gibson settled there and had 10 children. His wife was Mary Finley.
Granddaughter of Daniel Boone's Indian Scout, John Finley
@@eagleclaw2525 I have descendants in Tennessee, but on another side of my family. Anna Elizabeth Gibson moved from Ireland to Pennsylvania
@@npkori5229 Yes, the family had origins from Northern Ireland!
@@eagleclaw2525 Yeah, and apparently her father had moved to Ireland from Scotland for some time

Buchanan here
James Buchanan is my ancestor
Sorry to hear that
Here be another Gibson ....
Don’t use the name, even if it’s my legal one, since the family in Mississippi ain’t that right…, father’s side, but I’m a McWhorter. A different spelling of MacWhirter. Keep up on ancestry, goes far back as an ‘Alexander I’, round the 16 or 1500s iirc. Think one of my fellas died in some Irish Catholic Uprising as well, massacre.
Kinda went like Scotland>Ireland>Colonial America>North Carolina>Mississippi. I think. Closest deceased relatives is a Price McWhorter and Fern Sprague iirc, if anyone might know my people.
Thank god sum real history no ghosts or tooth fairies
I am a bloody Buchanan
