      It's pretty stunning that Bob and Doug McKenzie's signature way of speaking (two fictional characters on SCTV over 30 years ago) sparked this phenomena where citizens of USA firmly believe that that's how Canadians actually talk. And this stereotype has lasted these 30+ years. Quite stunning indeed.

    • @JanetStarChild
      @JanetStarChild Před 10 lety +1

      Porco-Dio FIlm
      Uh.. no. That's like saying everyone from USA is a product of incestial conception.
      Stereotypes don't always equal truth. Usually they are fabricated by fiction and extreme exaggerations in pop culture.

    • @BigDaddyZakk420
      @BigDaddyZakk420 Před 10 lety

      JanetStarChild I lived in Canada for three years, mate. Hate to burst your bubble but it's the truth, a lot of Canadians say eh, I didn't fucking say "all" now did I ?

    What a great way to sum up the Dreamcast, Power Stone

  • @meetoo594
    @meetoo594 Před 10 lety +42

    The dreamcast must have had the best ratio of good/bad games of any system, I cant recall any that were truly dreadful. So many great games,the sonic adventure games, crazy taxi, shenmue, soul caliber, toy commander, revolt, the one like wipeout but with hoverboards, snow surfers, jet grind radio, dynamite cop etc. Everything about the system oozed quality, from the great joypads with vmu to the built in modem. If only it had a dvd drive, i think thats what gave sony the edge with the ps2.
    My day 1 launch model still works perfectly and due to the lack of copy protection can play any of the 100`s of game iso`s floating around online, so building up a nice library is easy. I even have a motion controlled fishing rod controller for it (years before the wii).
    One of the best consoles ever.

    • @nerdman67
      @nerdman67 Před 5 lety +3

      It was a hell of an effort by Sega. By all accounts it deserved to be a huge success, it’s a shame how things work out

    • @BawesomeBurf
      @BawesomeBurf Před 5 lety

      Not sure I would call the controllers great. Many people find it to be uncomfortable, it has a slippery analog, and for some reason only has 4 face buttons. The VMU slot was pretty neat though, and I loved how certain titles had minigames you could play on the VMU itself.
      But yeah, an amazing launch with probably the best lifetime ratio of good versus bad games. It's a shame this system couldn't save Sega, because they had done almost everything right.

    • @haroldhall1517
      @haroldhall1517 Před 4 lety

      @@nerdman67 it's funny because I can't remember wny great games on it. Just that it was the most expensive system at the time, my cousin won a free one from a raffle and we never had a good experience of any gamea he ever got for it. He never got any RPGs for it so the rpgs could have saved it, but everything else was done better on other platforms. Dreamcast was just expensive with no games to justify the price. Sonic??? Lol that's the joke, the only gimmick that game was originally praised and built upon was able to be achieved through any other consoles already

    I saw the Dreamcast at E3 that year. Realease was 9.9.99 I took the day off. I got 4 or 5 games on release day as well as controllers and VMUs. I have 3 or 4 systems now. 8 controllers with matching VMUSs for the colors etc. Probably 70 games. I still love it and now have a place to hook it up again.

    Man oh man, I was in line to buy the PS3 when it came out, $599 and no games, nor second controller. LOL. My how times have changed. I love these videos guys, please keep it up.

    I loved this system so much. I have more nostalgia for this system than others even though i have been playing video games since the Sega Master System and NES were still the newest. Just this past month i even built a bartop Dreamcast arcade machine to fuel my nostalgia even further (on my youtube channel for those interested).

      I first got into the Dreamcast probably after the first month of 9/9/99. One of my brother's (5 years older) friends let us borrow the system for a few days to play Soul Calibur. That was almost as jaw dropping as seeing Super Mario 64 for the first time. It really felt like the future with the visuals. Too bad i dont think kids these days will ever experience that sense of awe for themselves.

      i felt like graphics have just plateaued ever since the HD era. Since i posted this response though i have tested out the Occulus Rift Dev kit 2 and the awe was completely back and probably more. Being able to look around and see the level everywhere is incredible. So I guess when kids see this thing they'll have that experience too.

    • @dorlaretz5901
      @dorlaretz5901 Před 9 lety

      BillyTheBigDeal I agree with the Occulus Rift, but it is a device. It does not push the visuals itself on step further.You experience the game just in a different way.
      But what do you mean with HD era?
