The GameCube always reminds me of the Dreamcast. Secretly powerful, immediately identifiable library, amazing console design, and completely underappreciated.
Totally agree.
Drew I liked the GameCube more than ps2 at the time to be honest.
Oh you mean the wiiU
Most definitely
And made for gamers.
If I were you, with my severe OCD, I'd open up EVERY case in the entire game collection to see if anything else is missing!
I did! not anywhere!
Not to just check for the missing Paper Mario, but to make sure what else is missing!
I appear to be missing a few gems from my GameCube collection also.. since my discovery, my man cave is off limits. What made it even more frustrating was noticing that my copy of Path of Radiance was amongst the missing gems.. that game was one of my favourites growing up and isn’t exactly cheap to replace nowadays, especially not in the UK (my younger self was far too trusting). 😢
Totally agree
I recently discovered that my copy of RC Pro AM 2 was missing from its box after a re-consolidation of my games inventory. It's not Game Cube; it's original NES. But it's so devastating because it's one of those games that you wouldn't expect to be worth a lot of money that's worth A LOT of money. It's going to take between $80 and $100 USD to replace it. I'll never let anyone (save for my wife) have access to my games again. You just can't trust people.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem - On my top list for sure
Just beat that game finally found it at a flea market for only $25 .Honestly one of the best horror games of all time!!
In my top 10 games ever
For sure not only is it my favorite horror game it's probably in my top 10 games of all time
Definitely thought he'd mention this as well as Sonic Adventure... I loved those games.
Yep
Eternal Darkness, FZero, Rouge Squadron, Windwaker, Mario Sunshine, RE4, Star Fox Adventures, Metal Gear Twin Snakes. Amazing system.
Yes! Someone else likes star fox!!
I was so sad that he didn't mention it.
1. Super Mario Sunshine
2. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
3. Luigi's Mansion
4. Pikmin 2
5. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
6. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
7. Super Smash Bros. Melee
8. Mario Kart Double Dash
9. Super Mario Strikers
10. Skies of Arcadia: Legends
Honourable Mentions: Zelda Collectors edition, F-Zero GX, Pikmin, Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes, Tales of Symphonia
GameCube is my 2nd favourite console of all time and one of my most nostalgic. Great video John.
Sunshine is the best
Mario Sunshine is definitely number one! 😎😁
Ay someone mentioning tales of symphonia! One of my fav games of all times. Im a big rpg fan so i would put it at 1 best GC games
gx is the best fucking thing on the gamecube
Resident Evil 4 is the reason why I bought a GameCube. Another game I absolutely loved on the GC that you didn't mention was Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Excellent game!
It was also Resident Evil 4, that made me buy my first Gamecube system!.
My favorite console of all time!
My top 5 Gamecube games:
1. Metroid Prime (My favorite game of all time)
2. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
3. Metroid Prime 2 Echoes
4. Super Smash Bros. Melee
5. F-Zero GX
TWIN SNAKES!!!!
Prime my GOAT as well (though I’d gave to play through BOTW again I because wow that game consumed me).
Not really any particular order, but:
Metroid Prime
Zelda Twilight Princess
Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Resident Evil 4
I could play these 5 games until the day I die.
Metroid prime is also my favorite game of all time. Skyward sword is close
The GameCube holds a special place for me. I remember walking into GameStop and asking about Metroid Prime having really no idea what it was all about. It was cheap so I picked it up, and to say I was blown away is an understatement. That game completely changed how I view video games. Atmosphere, art, music, immersive gameplay and storytelling, it doesn’t get any better. Hollow Knight did that recently for me too.
The most hours I put into gaming on the gamecube was super monkey ball 2 , it was an absolute pleasure to play with friends as all the mini games were so much fun . At first it seemed that this was a children's game but soon the levels became very competitive , I would heartily recommend this to anyone who wants to play a challenging game that is so much fun to play on your own but gets five times better with friends around .
People who hate sunshine are crazy. It's one of the best mario games PERIOD. It had so much depth and you needed SKILL to get 120 shines
Loved it! Replayed it last year and it's still awesome!
Yes! Thank you! I replay Sunshine every summer and i replay Luigis Mansion every halloween.

“Mario is some slob plumber doing drugs”
Yikes, tone down the edge factor there.
People like Mario for the solid game design and level design. Franchise straight up created the standards for both side scrollers and 3D Platformers with its tight controls. It’s fine if you don’t like the series for whatever reason, but to ignore the reasons why people like it (and act like there aren’t any) is just silly.
Also you’re taking the OPs comment to seriously.
@@P33b4Ugo5omwh3r3 found the douchebag!

Don’t feed him.
"I had some people over I shouldn't have and stuff disappeared"
"Charles Martinet was over hanging out"
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....
Would be nice to see the Wii U Windwaker remaster ported to switch. Great memories of that game.
I would buy it instantly! 😂
100% it will, too popular of a game.
Cartercus I honestly think they should just port everything to Switch at this point hahahaha. Considering older RPGs are getting ridiculously expensive, things like the Mana collection are the only way I can play these old games.
@@adronator Square is pretty good at rereleasing their library, so I'm surprised Chrono Trigger hasn't been ported to the Switch yet. I feel like it's only a matter of time.
Zelda bundle coming soon I bet with three Zelda games In package
I remember randomly finding Baten Kaitos Eternal Wings and Baten Kaitos Origins on GC 70% off, I had no idea what it was but I bought them and ended up loving it. Those two games are my top 2, I replay them all the time, the voice acting was amazing to me at the time despite some quality issues.
100% hidden gem!
Fantastic list, man. The GameCube is probably my favorite system ever. I would add Eternal Darkness and Rogue Squadron 2 to this list.
You have such an infectious and very positive attitude, I really like watching your videos and listen to what your take is on games.
I would have to have Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II and Mario Kart Double Dash in my top 10.
Star Wars games were pretty much all I played on my GC. RS2, Clone Wars, Bounty Hunter. GC and N64 had so many great SW games.
For sure both need to be top 10. Double dash is up there with N64 Mario kart games
I really miss my gamecube from when I was younger, I even had the adaption that allows you to play GBA games. Playing Pokemon on my TV was mind blowing lmao.
Johnny, what a trip through memory lane. I love the GameCube and its games. Evelyn laughed when you said you smoked when sailing across the seas, and that it was so relaxing. Your list of games are spot on and I had a feeling your number 1 was Phantasy Star Online.
Thanks Danny!! :D
I've been bingewatching your videos, man. I love how you pronounce "Time" and how you refer to games as "true classics". Thanks for your videos
Can't believe you haven't done a top 10 Cube video until now! Growing up with N64 and GameCube was the best
Gc is one of the most important console for me, it rly turned me into a gamer.
My top 10 is:
1: wind waker
2: twilightprincess
3: Metroid prime
4: RE4
5: mario kart DD
6: tales of symphonia
7: super mario snshine
8: ssbm
9: metroid prime 2
10: mario party 4
You forgot to put RE4 on number one 😂
Eternal Darkness is a memorable game.
Skies of Arcadia Legends and both Baten Kaitos games would have spots on mine.
Ebay sells em' frequently.
The price is pretty steep last time I checked.

1. Phantasy Star Online - Episode I & II
Notes: Doubutsu no Mori (Animal Forest) was first released in Japan only for the N64. They later made Doubutsu no Mori+ and that's the gamecube version with some new features.
Personally, I wouldn't pick multi-platform games for a console list if they are available on two or three consoles as an example, so I wouldn't have personally picked Resident Evil 4 though I might give it honorable mentions as it DID COME OUT as a timed exclusive for the gamecube early on making it a desirable game on the gamecube for a period of time.
Resident Evil 4 is still a great game today.
I went to this amazing gaming expo today and I come home and see you've put out a video about Gamecube which is very near and dear to my heart. This is awesome. Loving your list too. Great video as always man! Please make more Gamecube Videos xD.
1. Super Smash Bros Melee
2. Super Mario Sunshine
3. Metroid Prime
4. Luigi's Mansion
5. Mario Kart: Double Dash
6. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
7. Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee
8. Pikmin
9. Paper Mario: TTYD
10. Star Wars: Rogue Leader
Honorable Mentions: Viewtiful Joe, F-Zero GX , Animal Crossing , Chibi Robo , Billy Hatcher, and Soul Calibur 2.
Definitely Star Wars Rogue Leader. I remember when my brother and me took the Gamecube over to our father's house. We hooked up the s-video cable to his big screen tv and his killer stereo system. It was an amazing experience.
MY favourite Gamcube Games:
The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda - Wind Waker
Killer 7
F - Zero GX
Metroid Prime 1
Metroid Prime 2
Resident Evil Zero
Mario Kart Double Dash
Luigis Mansion
Eternal Darkness
Back in the days I skipped the Gamecube cuz I bought a PS2(which in my opinion is a million times better) but now I emulate the Gamecube games I was curious about.
Baten Kaitos is probably my favorite of all the GC exclusives I played so far.
Amazing jrpg that not many people know about. Has one of the best plot twists in games btw!
The GameCube is still my favorite Nintendo console til date. The game library was fantastic.. Enteral Darkness, PN03, and so many I can name..
Great video Johnny! The GameCube and the PS1 are tied for me for my favourite console. Nice to see some love for this great machine
The funny thing about the complaints that Luigi's Mansion is too short is that it's ended up one of my most played Gamecube games because it's so brief. My wife and I both do a replay through every now and again.
You have no idea how much I appreciate whenever you talk about phantasy star online
The rogue squadron games were awesome too. I wish they'd bring those back.
Yes physical for switch and jedi knight package
Viewtiful Joe and Soul Calibur II w/ Link would definitely be on my top list for GCN.
...And both were released during the same year oddly enough.
F-Zero GX & Path of Radiance. Good choices. Those two are some of my favourites too. I also love Melee, Soul Calibur II & 1080 Avalanche. The Gamecube was such a good system.
Still remember the allgengamers podcast with you and Pete Dorr talking about your Phantasy Star Online addiction and Gamester81 had to jump in to stop lol
Without question, Tales of Symphonia and Skies of Arcadia: Legends.
Both are amazing rpg's. Couple years ago there was a huge sale on PS3 and I bought like 5 or 6 Tales of games for $34.
Yup Tales of Symphonia is my childhood. My #1 game of ALL time still.
Skies of Arcadia Legends is the most influential Gamecube game and one of the most influential RPGs for me. Viewtiful Joe and Megaman Network Transmission are second and third respectively.
I bought a Gamecube just for Resident Evil when it launched. I mostly played Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 4, & Eternal Darkness. I would say one of my biggest regrets is not playing more Gamecube games at that time. I remembered playing Luigi's Mansion at a Suncoast in the mall. I enjoyed it, but wasn't sure if I could justify picking up a console for it.
Phantasy Star Online was life on the GameCube. Such a good online community too.
There is one inescapable conclusion I came to watching this video, Charles Martinet boosted your Paper Mario!
The one I've spent the most hours and actually days on was the GameCube game with a bunch of Zelda games on it. It had the first Zelda and Zelda 2 and a couple other ones.
Yup the special promo disc. I had 2 copies. I ended up selling them for over a hundred each
LoZ Linnks Awakening Oceania of Time and Majora's Mask
The Zelda Collector's Edition was one of the first games I ever owned. I got a second copy as a hand me down from a family friend and I ended up giving that to my buddy Joe as a birthday present. God, I miss middle school.
Beyond Good and Evil was one of my favorites.
In Metroid Prime, I really enjoyed reading all the notes about the pirates experimenting with the Phazon. It got darker and darker as the game progressed.
Back then in the early 00'ies when many of my friends where talking about their PCs and the game "Black & White", was I playing my first GC game, titled "DOSHIN THE GIANT"!. That game is still one of my fav!
The first night after playing RE on Gcube, I nearly wet the bed.
Prior I had beaten RE2 on N64. But the Gcube was incredible.
Very nice list, but a game i like that everyone forgets. Billy Hatcher! What a wonderful goofy Sega game. I miss the days when company's would take chances.
Specifically Sega. Nowadays it's eother Sonic or nothing. They have so many great IPs that they just don' t do anything with.
Underrated multiplayer game. I remember my good buddy making me try it when I was like 12 and we played it quite a bit
Thank you for continuing to bring back the memories ;D
Viewtiful Joe was AWESOME!!! I hope that we get a Switch Port
Damn... your lists are really good. Just watched the fighting games one. You sir have a fine taste!
That Wind Waker music :,)
I'm never ready for the "Anyway guys, until next time" bit
I lent my copy of Paper Mario to a guy back when I still lent things out to people and never saw it again
bradybrapples dude same I lent out my copy of bioshock... worst mistake ever lmao
Same story with my Saturn copy of Sexy Parodius...
I did the same thing with Suikoden 2, but lucked out when I ran into the guy a few years later and was able to get it back.
The Gamecube was the first console i ever “owned” (it was a gift for Christmas and was set up in my room) and i had 2 games i’ll never forget: Luigi’s Mansion and The Legend of Zelda Collector’s Edition. Oh, my, God, was my mind blown as a kid when i first popped that tiny disk in and saw that i had access to SO MANY ADVENTURES with Link. It was truly a magical experience and i’m so grateful to have had such fun times with all those wonderful games (shoutout to twilight princess, my personal favorite of the series ❤️)
I was so addicted to Phantasy Star Online on Gamecube as soon as I heard the music sneaking in while you were talking I knew! Great game and another great vid Johnny!
I recently noticed my copy of Shaq Fu had gone missing. All that was left in the Shaq Fu box box was a note that said, "You're welcome." I think I'm okay with this.
HappyConsoleGamer. You seriously are the best youtuber there is and I sincerely want you to know that. Your videos are so passionate and just extremely a joy to watch. Dont think you ever go unnoticed!
Thank you!! appreciated! :D
@happyconsolegamer - I was waiting for this top 10. So many nostalgic memories with the Gamecube, great list :) I’m surprised though that “Skies of Arcadia” didn’t make your honorable mention list considering how much you loved the soundtrack and DC version.
My Top 10 in no order:
• Skies of Arcadia Legends
• Rayman 3
• Paper Mario Thousand Year Door
• Wind Waker
• Mario Kart Double Dash
• Mario Sunshine
• Billy Hatcher & the Giant Egg
• F Zero GX
• Zelda: Twighlight Princess
• Baten Kaitos
I agree all the games you picked for this video are amoung the best.
Excellent video... loved every second! "Happy" to have you around... keep up the good work!!! Greetings from Brazil... ^_^
I replayed Metroid Prime recently and I was amazed at how well the game still holds up to this day. It's still just as fun to play now as it was back then. And it still looks great (despite the low resolution). The fact that this game will soon be 20 years old just blow my %%$?& mind... haha
Its a masterpiece in my opinion, i play it at least once a year.
So good
The GameCube was such big part of my childhood. It wasn't most powerful or most advance console. But a lot fun games and who can forget! The cool looking small disc lol
Great list Johnny. It was very interesting to see your reasons and stories from each game in your top 10 and all those games were really top 10 Gamecube games on most people's list.
However I was shocked you didnt mention Double Dash. I know you had F Zero GX for other racing games on your list but Double Dash was surprised you didnt talk. about it. One of the best racing games on the gamecube and a fan favorite among many.
You probably did play Double Dash but wondered what you liked more with F Zero that Double Dash didnt have. Other than that, great top 10 Gamecube video.
Great video as always, Johnny. I remember back in the early 2000s all my friends had ps2s and I was one of the only people in my circle who had a gamecube, and I'm so thankful for that, because I wouldn't trade the memories I made with the games on that console for anything.
Same. I had a ps2 and wouldn't trade it for xbox or gamecube. Thankfully my cousins had them so we could all enjoy every console
Great list! You should start the music a little later in your reveals though - while you were still creating suspense with your explanation when revealing a game, I knew most of them immediately through the background music ;)
1. Metroid Prime Echoes
2. Twilight Princess
3. Resident Evil 4
4. Thousand Year Door
5. Sanity's Requiem
6. Double Dash
7. Luigi's Mansion
8. Sunshine
9. F Zero GX
10. Melee
My 2nd favorite home console of all time only 2nd to the Super Nintendo.
"I didn't ask Charles Martinet what his favorite Mario game was, because everyone asks him that. So, I asked him how many people he's seen naked in person and if he'd like to see one more."
Did he let out a giant "wahoo" as security escorted you out ??
Hell yeah, another GameCube video! I hope to see more of these from you. My favourite GameCube game is Mario Kart Double Dash.
The Cube was fantastic, it was my first console I bought with my first pay cheque from my first job. Viewtiful Joe was one of the games I got after Smash and Double Dash, and put so many hours into it. The gameplay, the style. Speaking of remakes, this game NEEDS a remake or remaster. Amazing top ten Johnny.
F-Zero and the GBA player! AHHHH, so good.
WindWaker for me was mind blowing, I have the collectors disc of Ocarina and played that on the cube and right after played WindWaker, and it blew my damn mind
Man the Gamecube really did have a stacked library of fantastic games!
Loved your list!
Gamecube is my favorite console of all time, along with SNES.
It had all these great "pairs" of games! Pikmin 1&2, WW and TP, Prime 1&2, both Baten Kaitos games, both Pokémon Colosseums, Sonic Adventure 1&2... And just lots of cool and ambitious titles in general, and a bunch of great JRPGs.
I´m actually replaying the Baten Kaitos games as I type this, and they definitely belong on my top 10 Gamecube games!
The wind waker theme is forever my favorite theme. WHen I saw the symphony live and they played the wind waker medley and they played it I almost cried.
Great video! Thanks for the memories. Some thoughts and memories of my own: Metroid Prime~ I remember people nay saying the conversion to 3d and i used to hang out in Gamefan magazine's irc chat and even after the game was released there were still people who refused to play it, in spite of being told how amazing it was. I wonder if they ever got into it... Animal Crossing ~ Remember seeing this article in a magazine detailing a bizarre Japanese game where you fish, catch insects, decorate your home etc. and i was immediately excited about it. I never thought it would come West and flipped out when it did. Wind Waker~ My favourite 3d Zelda title still. Never had a problem with the graphical style as many did. And i actually enjoyed the seafaring although i was no longer smoking at that time lol
Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, Baten Kaitos 1 and 2, bomberman generations, wario world, pikmin 1 &2. Lost kingdoms 1&2. Soul calibur 2. Metroid prime1&2. Skies of arcadia, tales of... , XIII, Batallion Wars, Luigis mansion, paper mario ttyd, primal fury, wave race, 1080 avalanche, ssx tricky, pokemon colosseum and XD, Fire emblem, Gotcha force, Chibi robo, smash bros, four swords adventures, wind waker, twilight princess, sonic adventure 1 &2... not to mention all the amazing star wars games. Ill stop now because I could go on forever... what a beast of a machine. Ill love it forever.
The GameCube could certainly use more love. F-Zero GX is my favorite game on the system by a considerable margin and a top 10 All-Time Arcade Racer.
Mines is
1.Gotcha Force
2.Eternal Darkness
3.Billy Hatcher
4.Viewful Joe
5.Kirby air ride
5.
The metal gear solid remake is what made me get a gamecube and i loved it.
i love my wii
(Rev. 001 with GC- Mode)
most underrated Console.
I was texting a friend that I was playing N64 all day and he texted wow... How productive but the statement at the end of the video hits home, I don't feel like I'm wasting my life when I play games, I'm active, I work I go to the gym and gaming is a hobby that enhances my life not wasting it
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is my favorite.
I still play PSO on gamecube online.
I loooovve the Gamecube!! Eternal Darkness is one of the best games ever 😍😍😍
1 The Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker.

rogue squadron 2 rogue leader
fire emblem path of radiance
paper mario TYD
skies of arcadia
tales of symphonia
star fox assault
mario kart double dash
luigi's mansion

When I first got the gamecube I loved it and ever since it has been my favourite console. So much nostalgia and great games for me. I really needed this sort of video today, your videos always make my day. =)
Oh man, so glad you're finally doing a top 10 games from my favorite console of all time! I'm of course gonna write my own list here, but with the GC once again being my favorite console, there is absolutely no way in hell I can limit myself to just 10 games. So with that, here are my top 30 Gamecube games of all time:
30. *Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life*
29. *Warioware, Inc.: Mega Party Game$!*

*Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle I still play every week*
Oh, and obviously Smash Bros. Melee :)
Oh man, I was so expecting Tales of Symphonia or Baiten Kaitos in there somewhere
Yep Tales of Symphonia #1 game of ALL time.
5:07 - WE’VE GOT THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD IN OUR YARD TO EXPLOOOOOORE...
Loving these Top 10's! And Gamecube is still my favourite console after all these years 💜
My favorite GameCube game will always be Mario kart double dash. First game I ever played in my life, I was 5, now I’m 20 with hundreds of games. Crazy how time flies.
Super Smash Bros Melee
Twilight Princess
Tales of Symphonia
Custom Robo
Metroid Prime
Ghost Recon
Animal Crossing
Time Splitters 2
Ocarina of Time Master Quest
Path of Radiance
This was a very very good review of a system not alot of people talk about. Regularly
Have you played Eternal Darkness? My favorite Gamecube game by far
Mario Sunshine, underrated classic, loved it!
For me, though I didn't own a gamecube, these were my favorite titles that came from it: Metroid Prime; Fire Emblem: PoR; Resident Evil 4 & Twilight Princess.
The Gamecube era was when I stopped dividing my time between console and PC gaming. I have soooooo many Gamecube games to get through and experience for the first time... it's great! Thanks for your Gamecube hit list, I am clueless when it comes to the GC library.
Great video! Some recommendations here that I passed over first time around like Pikmin, Waverace and Luigi’s Mansion. The Cube’s gradually becoming one of my top favourite consoles. Gotta say though, Mario Sunshine never sat well with me, even though I played it often way back when. Interesting to discover that I’m not alone on that one.
