If only you knew how true the comparison is. If they have a problem with Confidentialities whilst making chemicals that could potentially be used for high grade explosives and or used to enrich materials with radioactivity, we all know what that means. Now, if it really was due to trying to keep sealed lips on something that could spell disaster, then it would’ve been much wiser to force him to keep making videos so nobody would have any speculation on the matter. 🤔 seems like there’s a truth we’ll eventually find down this rabbit hole, but we should leave him be and hope he gets clearance to speak about it on his terms.

@@JoshuaHarrison-gq9cr you can probably search scholarly, for a Tom (his name), and there are really only 3 real universities he could possibly be at in south Australia, that narrows it down, plus he is in the physics department as an PHD candidate.
So you need to find a guy named tom who is in the physics department, who is currently a PHD candidate at one of 3 universities in south Australia, cant possibly be many people who fit that description. Plus we also know (not from this video) that at least some of his research involves using lasers.
That story with the cystic fibrosis was so heartbreaking...

Working on my PhD right now too, I can relate so hard. It's a grind for sure and I think it's amazing you've made as many videos as you did while doing a phd! Your vids always bring a smile to my face and can't wait for you to be back!

Aw man I knew someone with cystic fibrosis; it's absolute hell.. They needed someone to literally beat the stuff out of their lungs multiple times a day... every day was always a struggle. Wonderful cause :')

Nice to see you opted for the reptile lamp uv sources. If its got a resistive ballast, you can just wire a standard lamp socket in series with the wall plug and use different power rated light bulbs to regulate uv output. Anyway, good luck with the phd and intenship, it sounds exciting.

I totally understand and i'll be awaiting your videos in future. The dead pixel isn't really that noticeable and even though i know it's there it is not in a part of the screen that the focus is on, i have a second PC with a monitor with a couple of dead pixels next to each other that are exactly where the top corner of the start menu is so i notice them a lot.
Well I have never commented on any of your videos before, so I guess now is the best time. You have inspired me in so many ways, your work both as an entertainer and as a scientist is really amazing, I now more than ever want to finish high-school and go to college in order to study chemistry. I had to drop out of uni because of severe depression, so I'm proud that you're succeeding where I failed. As much as it saddens me that you won't be uploading for a few months, you've got your priorities straight. When you get back with your PhD your fucking around will be more legitimate though.
I wish you all the best. If you get some time maybe you could do some basic tutorial videos on various reactions and extractions. A lot of the content on hydrogenation etc that would help beginners get into chemistry is very sparsely explained or way too in depth which then overloads them with information.
Good for you for acknowledging your limits and taking a break! That can be super hard to do. You deserve it. Hopefully your time off does a lot of good for your career and the channel, also. I'll keep watching the back catalogue until you're able to come back.

It's great seeing you demonstrate chemistry with minimalistic tools and to get proper explanations about how the reactions work.
Chemistry has always been a subject I've found interesting out of all the classes I've been in, even if it is often tiring to stand for hours performing labwork.

While it is unfortunate to see you have to take a break, I get it. I too did a PhD and I get that it is a ton of stuff to juggle. If you signed up for empirical chemistry in high school in the late 60's, yes, comprehensive practical chemistry.
@@dragonhealer7588 I wasn't even thought of in the '60s. Even then, I doubt it was anything close to comprehensive. By practical chemistry I mean how to run multi-step reactions, handle dangerous lab materials, do chemistry just for the sake of doing chemistry, all without supervision. I highly doubt any high school chemistry course, regardless of the era, is going to teach students (and in that case children) how to do all of this on their own. High school chem is meant to teach the basic concepts underlying work in the lab, not how to perform syntheses. In my experience, at least.

Yes Miguel, we did all of that, including some dangerous synthesis.
We were WELL supervised, the only off limits experiments were with energetics (explosives).
There were some interesting failures and accidents, all considered teaching moments, and par for the course.
The growing trend of "child safety" above all, has ruined some types of education.
Pretty amazing classiness too explain before going on hiatus. Best luck on thesis and career. Hope to see more cool stuff in the future
Wow, writing thesis how nice, time is flying. :) Took me 6 months to write it and countless revisions. One article was already written, so I had to write the introduction, copy paste the first article (published during writing thesis hehe) and write the data in format of two more articles published thereafter. Had more papers during thesis but those were not accepted since they were side projects.
Anyway, you are right to focus on it and take a break from CZcams.
Just post in the discord once in a while so we know you are still alive. ;) I love all the awesome work you do.
