balls in a twist
Twisted balls.
My ex girlfriends grandfather had situs inversus (or however it’s spelled)
He found out when he got shot in a war. Straight through the left side of his chest. Should’ve been a heart shot, but wasn’t.
Talk about a blessing in disguise!
@@vault6242 until you need a organ transplant. You are fucked in that case

I mean, how many people end up needing one in their lives?
@@axeonee Did you pay *_any_* attention whatsoever during biology class? If the organ isn't where you expect it to be, _check the opposite side._ I feel bad for you and the eleven others who think this would be a problem.
@@CoralCopperHead what does that have to do with my comment... Its not about finding the organ in the body, its about finding a donor organ that matches you.
I live in ireland and every couple of generations in my family all or most of the men have fingers that curl in. This is a remnant of the vikings and its known as Dupuytrens Contracture or "The Viking/Celtic Hand". It skipped my mothers generation and now I have it :)

I had toes that were curled as a baby. Fortunately my mother and doctors notices, so they massaged them while I had soft baby bones to straighten them. The 4th toe on each foot is still a bit curled.
As a medic I must tell you, Mr Terry... that about 65% of left testicles are lower than the right one. So technically we could tell a "testicular situs inversus" hahaha.
just checked and can confirm.
@@Zo3yX thank you :)
Oh thank christ! I though something was wrong with deeze
I think I have testicular sinus inversus.
How could you tell? He could be part of the percentage of people that have a lower right one?
Situs inversus is pretty bad if you need an organ transplant.
Silly question, but is there a particular reason why flipping the donated organ the “wrong” way around wouldn’t help?
@@joshuahunt3032
The organs aren't flipped, per se. They're mirrored. Look into a mirror, and try to think of a way to rotate yourself to look like you do in the mirror. You'll see it's impossible in 3D space.
The reflection in a mirror is a rotation in 4D space. So, unless there are some surgeons around who can access the 4th dimension, a normal organ won't do.
But organs like the stomach are easier to transplant. The biggest problems are the heart and the liver.
So do you just die??
@@Misto_deVito6009
Yes.
@@_P2M_ so basically you need a mirrored man to save a mirrored man
I actually had that testicular torsion experience many times throughout my life and had to have surgery to finally stop them from happening. I’ll spare you the horrific details but just know it was the most excruciating pain I’ve ever experienced in my life :)
Damn man, hope you're well, i had a Testicular torsion too, but for my luck i didn't need to do a surgery, for some bizarre reason after 18 hours with 4 of them being in pure agony my testicle decided to fix itself literally in the middle of the hospital
i got more angry thinking about how my testicle twisted for literal nothing rather than suffering the damn torsion
sorry for my bad english, just wanted to give you a massive F as a fellow Testicular Torsion fella
I had an undescended testicle… I’m scared I may get testicular torsion because of it.
@@thatnnoob6109 for what my doctor said, is somewhat not that rare to have it, it's more common in people from 12-21 years, the development phase, so..... yeah, don't nap in one side i guess, lolol
jk, hope you doesn't get one, seriously.
You got lucky, had one at 18 but didn't notice it because I also had a cystitis at the same time, so when the doctors recognized it, it was already necrotic and had to be cut out, on the other hand now I have a 50% chance of not feeling a crotch hit
I did it one time a couple years back.
It was awful. Like I was being stabbed in the balls and punched in the gut by Mime Tyson
I have a cousin who's daughter has full situs Inversus and you would never know. She acts like any other kid out there.
Did she have trouble learning her left and right apart? Because that would be something.
@@DavidSimmons42 I probably don’t have it, and I sometimes used to have trouble telling left from right. I still have some trouble telling clockwise from counterclockwise on occasion. (Probably related to one of the disorders that came with my high-functioning autism, maybe my inattentive ADD).

I saw this years ago, and have been paranoid about testicular torsion ever since. I’ve even been considering making an appointment with a urologist just to make sure everything is in order down there.
I feel you, man. I once experienced mild sores down there for longer than a day and was scared SHITLESS. Testicular cancer? Testicular trauma? t-t-TORSION? I’ll tell ya, those next few days I inspected my nuts more than I had ever.

My great grandmas entire family was missing a joint on the ring finger, my oldest brother (her first great grandchild) not having this mutation made her cry with joy. None of us born since have either
i once read a few years ago about a mutation that stops your liver from being damaged by alcohol consumption. not sure if it's real but that sounds pretty neat
Speaking of evolution: apparently, humans are getting more muscle that connects to the back of our heads. This is from tilting our heads forward too much. Secondly, nearsightedness most likely became more prevalent because of reading.
Evolution is genetic, so that wouldn't be passed down if their children don't tilt their heads
Theres actually a little evidence that nearsightedness can be caused by lack of natural sunlight more than purely reading, but I dont know how replicated those results are.
@@aliciavivi2147 That doesn't make sense.
Doesn't matter if they stop tilting their heads, it's still encoded in the DNA and doesn't change because of your behaviour.
I think it’s less evolution and more bodies adapting to modern life. If you started a family trend of working out a specific part of your body and your great grand children continued working out that part of tbe body. You wouldn’t call them having that muscle an evolutionary trait. It’s just be because they’re working out that muscle. Same thing happens with necks. If we tilt our heads in a specific way enough we’re going to get more muscle there because we’re working out the groups that help support our head to do that
Congrats on 300k!
On the topic of bloodshot eyes, my stepdad has green eyes the same as you, and his eyes are always bloodshot too. I wonder if it’s a light green eyes thing. Also, I find them endearing, my stepdad is the best person ever and is the person who made me fall in love with history when I was just a little girl. I’m 32 now and have gone back to university to study history here in the U.K. and I love it!
I’ve always had some red eye. However, it was made worse after I had lasik. My optometrist says they’re healthy though!
@@MrTerry well then being healthy and working is all that matters! Plus you have the best eye colour ever!

I took the GED the year after I was supposed to graduate. Moved from Texas to Tennessee and they tried to take 7 credits from me (even though Texas has a better education system 🤦♂️) I would’ve had to take another year of high school...no thank you lol. Moral of the story, GED isn’t just for people who couldn’t graduate or dropped out way early for nefarious reasons 😂
My dad had an accessory spleen. He feel off a ledge on his ship when he was in the navy once and landed on some sort of spike that went through his body, impaling him. The spike pierced through his accessory spleen. Interesting story.
I was 21 or so when I learned that I have stereoblindness. Basically my eyes don’t work together to perceive depth like they’re supposed to, so I see the world in 2D. Only times it’s really come up are sports (good luck catching a ball when you can’t tell how far away it is), watching 3D movies (the “3D” stuff just looks replicated to me) and driving
Of course it's important to remember that a number of supposedly vestigial organs have since been found to still serve a purpose.
I was born without toenails on my pinky toes. I’ve inherited that “deformity” from my dad and apparently my grandfather and great grandfather had it as well.
Interesting…..what is that like?
Wow, interesting. That’s 2 fewer nails to cut though!
@@MrTerry True. lol. Biology class was a bit weird tho. Like when the biology book says that we have a certain amount of toes, nails etc. I was like "no... I don't have that". I learned about genetics at a young age, because I wanted to understand why I didn't have nails on my pinky toes and that some of my family was the same way.
@@ImissVine782 It doesn't interfere with everyday life, besides that I have two less nails to cut. lol.

Oh gosh.. Does it hurt? I have webbed toes, where the skin on my toes sticks together. It's kind of weird but I got used to it after awhile, but I don't doubt that many different people have similar problems.
I remember whatching this video some years back and ever since i have had severe anxiety about testicular torsion and have even gone to the doctors about it twice since. It still kinda bothers me to this day, and it's amazing how something so small in a random video could trigger a deep fear in me.

Eyyy, my brother had that weird "ball tubes all twisted up" thing happen to him to like 15 years ago. I remember him telling about it and showing off the scar he had left from the hospital visit to fix it. I never looked it up, but am surprised to hear it's as common as it is.
Congratulations on 300k! 🥂
So I basically have three deformities, two from my dad's side and one from my mom's.
From my dad's side I have off-center kneecaps as well as third-finger writer's callus. (The latter isn't so much genetic as it is formed from holding a writing stick a certain way, but the former can be debilitating if you turn your leg wrong.)
And from my mother, I have hyperextended elbows. Basically, if I were to lay my elbows out flat, the forearm would be at an outward angle instead of straight. She got it in turn from my maternal grandmother's side.
Oh, that's horrible. I hope you are ok, and take good care of yourself. No matter how bad off you are or feel that you are, don't forget that you're important to people such as friends and family!
Got the same forearm thing, though I think it's more there because of stretching more than genetics
@@silentcrow6602if it's any consolation the forearm thing isn't as bad as you think in my experience. It's just more flexible, the arm's pretty much functionally the same as any arm and could make for a fun party trick. Though I guess his case could be more different
@@somedudeintheinterweb8665 Okay 👍
I have an accessory spleen. It was found randomly during a checkup.
Testicular torsion aint no joke, its one of the worst pains you can feel as a mean, making you even vomit from the pain

Me/Luke Skywalker: "That's not true! That's impossible!!"
Other reasons to get a G.E.D. include to get out of high school early or if you were homeschooled. Having a G.E.D. does not necessarily indicate that you needed to finish high school any later than normal.
Because of sam o nella i live in constant fear of testicular torsion
I've got hypermobility in my elbows (sometimes called being double-jointed, though apparently that term isn't correct)... Basically the joints in my elbow are unusually flexible such that I can bend them around a lot easier than most people can... Apparently like 20% of people have hypermobility, so it's uncommon but not exceptionally rare... Also means it's easier for me to dislocate my elbows it seems, but assuming I don't ever end up doing that it's pretty neat...
i did a presentation where i straight up plagerized his mass hysteria video. word for word and everything
The F.A.S.D. bomb,,, I bet it was NOT a "slip",,, EVERY kid looked that up and LEARNED ALL ABOUT IT,,,, LESSON TAUGHT!!!!!
The easiest way to kill someone with Situs Inversus is to wait until they have to get a heart transplant, then destroy the super rare donor heart.
47 style.
Ayyy!
One MAJOR issue i see from the flipped organs is detecting organ emergencies. For example heart attacks are famously vague but strong pain radiating from chest to left arm. Someone may have a flipped internals and fell a heart attack on the right, and do nothing about it. Same with appendicitis (sudden intense pain on your left side) with nausia and stuff. Well someone could feel it on the right and brush it off. Both of those WILL kill you very quickly (minutes to hours for heart attack, and days for appendicitis). And appendicitis already gets ignored too much (since it sometimes is confused for a severe stomach cramp)
i have the bell clapper deformity, same as my dad, since i learned i have it i've been terrified of testicular torsion so i'm VERY carefull with my boys, but the fear is still there
very cool
i really hope his health teacher only said that so the kids would pay attention lol
situs inversus doesn't have any problems by itself, but there are some cause related symptoms. since the filaments that make sure all the stuff is moved to the "right" side don't work properly and those that make sure foreign objects get moved up to be coughed out, respiratory infections tend to be more severe.
i only JUST now fully understood the 'untrained eye' bit
I have one that wasn't mentioned: horseshoe kidney. My kidneys grew together into one big horseshoe shaped organ that functions as two separate kidneys. It's entirely on my left side, too.
yeah the torsion stuff is really painful
A deformity that I have is I was born with zero wisdom teeth

I don't have a spleen. Mine exploded when I was hit by a car and I almost bled out and had to have it removed. Along with A LOT of other work.
I have had dozens of cases of testicular torsion, starting since before puberty. It was only a few years ago after watching samonila that I self discovered that I have bell clappers. I still dont want the surgery to fix it, having a late botched circumcision makes not trust any genital surgeries
My dad has the first one. It doesn't cause problems
Sitis inversus could be an issue when an organ transplant is needed
I can imagine people evolving to develop some form of metabolic process to better handle higher levels of nutrient intake. Who knows.
Fudge, that fetal alcohol face next to Terry's face. He needs to talk to his mom.
I've got extra teeth growing on the inside of my mouth. Not wisdom teeth. Extra teeth growing behind the normal ones you get. Trying to brush is annoyingly hard because food gets stuck in the extra crevices.

I'm surprised cleft chins didn't get a mention, or cheek dimples for that matter either. Both fairly common, and heavily romanticised.
