    This is super dope, I can't wait to try this out. Might be my new _staple_ in grain prep 😏😉

      Cheap and easy. They sell all sorts of different sizes at the local grocery. Probably have them online too. I use the 12 x 18 inch normally. Make sure they're PP5. They sell PE/polyethylene also.

    Great video! Have you tried soaking Paddy Rice in bags w water before sterilizing (no simmer)?
    I use wheat or oats mostly. It saves me a lot of time to measure out grain & water in bags/jars (60% water to grain weight), soak for 18-24hrs, then sterilize for 3hrs @15psi. No-prep doesn't exactly work.. have to soak, otherwise grain doesn't hydrate properly. Soaking also germinates endospores before sterilization. technically a simmer is faster but still requires more steps. If soaking in jars you just measure everything out & let bags/jars sit.. so each method has it's pros & cons.

    Thanks man...good stuff as always. Really appreciate your no bs approach and loved hearing you experience with low pressure pots. Been using an Instant Pot for years for everything from agar to spawn, to dehydration, while listening to the BS about the "low-pressure" pots not getting to 15 psi...bla, bla, bla. When experienced guys like you pushback on some of the old school thinking, interesting stuff happens. On another topic, seeing the BS Yoooocheeee is dealing with, really hope you backed up all your vids. Hate to see all this great info vanish into the digital abyss. Appreciate ya.

      Everything is backed up. I also use a pressure cooker that only gets up to 11.7 psi. Works fine, just need longer run times. I put a little bit of wire on the rocker too. Might get up to 14 or 15???

    Love ya Ed! I really enjoyed your podcast with Mycogeeky last week! You've got such a great personality. You mentioned the possibility of sending some spores. What discord server are you on?

    Great vid . Paddy rice means rice with husk still on ? boil them 30min ?

    • @edwardgrand
      @edwardgrand  Před rokem +1

      Yes. It is basically brown rice with the hull/husk. Every batch is different, but I usually boil about an hour.

    After you PC, how do you inoculate? Do you just pull the staples, introduce mycelium, then restaple?

    • @edwardgrand
      @edwardgrand  Před rokem +2

      I let them cool thoroughly while in PC (~12 hours). Then I use a really hot scalpel to cut the top off, inoculate, fold bag down, and restaple. It's in another video, but don't remember which one...

      The last two are my current fruiting method. It changes frequently, but that's what I'm doing now.
