    Hello Chris, signing in from South Africa here. I have been shooting competitively since I was 16, at school, in 1984. When I did my National Service, I stopped shooting 22, but I joined a club in Feb this year that shoots 22, and I took part with a Bruno, kindly loaned me by a club member, well, the rest is history.
    Brilliant vid, and a good vindication for the rifle I finally settled on purchasing. Looking forward to other content from you.

    Thanks for posting. I watched a few of your other video too. I just picked up a cz 457 LRP last Friday. Ran about 600 rds thru it so far but only out to 160yds. Really liking the little gun. Like the rubber coating on the stock. Lightened the trigger as far as i could. Nice and clean but still about 2.2 lbs. Might just do spring swap. I'm running a Leupold mark5 HD scope in mil/mil. I wish it had 1/20th mil turrets instead of 1/10th but I like the glass. Haven't played with the S/B glass yet. Also running a silencerco sparrow suppressor on mine. Most important part is I have to shoot Kentucky windage EVERDAY....Live in Independence Kentucky...LOL Thanks

    My only criticism of this rifle is the comb riser. When raised as you demonstrate the bolt can’t be removed so that requires constant use of the T screwdriver. I carefully removed a portion on the front and can now leave the riser in situ and still remove the bolt, why oh why didn’t Cz do this?

    • @Tbowie13
      @Tbowie13 Před 6 měsíci

      @williamkoppos7039 Yeah, they make some fine looking little rifles and are accurate. I got a Varmit Precision chassis model as a trainer for my Christensen MPR 6.5 cm. I liked it so well I bought another in the Precision Match with Manners stock. Love the fact it was made to receive the Arca rail without drilling the stock. Ive suppressed mine as well with a D. Air Mask. It shoots ragged single holes at 60 yds all day and the data on Strelok Pro at 300 yds is almost identical to the data of my 6.5 cm at 1000, so it makes for a great trainer rifle. I've been shooting Wolf Match Extra, as they're made by Eley, in an Eley case, but a fraction of the price.
      If I've heard correct, Eley swaps dies every year and the old dies go on the Wolf line, but they are still precision for sure.

    If you have an LRP or plan on getting one and you want to purchase a 10 round magazine, stay away from the metal magazine and stick to the plastic one. My metal 10 round mag prohibits the last empty shell from ejecting when pulling back on the bolt. The last brass usually lays on top of the magazine. My LRP likes 40gr BBM ammo. Lastly, if you CCI stingers, they will not fit in the LRP's chamber.

    I don't get it: Why does Chris Parkin shoot ammunition that has a muzzle velocity just above the speed of sound (Mach 1)?
    1089 f/s probably corresponds to approx. Mach 1.03 at sea level and 20 degrees Celsius?
    I intend to buy a 22LR rifle, and would like one that has a 16 inch barrel, since I will also probably use a small silencer.
    I've read that with a 16 inch barrel, the muzzle velocity of standard ammo will be slightly above Mach 1.
    But according to my local gun shop, the same rifle with a 20 inch barrel is more accurate, because the longer barrel slows the bullet on standard ammo down to say Mach 0.95.
    And that contributes to better precision because then the bullet is UNDER Mach 1 from the muzzle to the target.
    To avoid turbulence when a bullet goes through the transonic speed range, the bullet from muzzle to target should either be all the way BELOW Mach 1, or ABOVE Mach 1.
    Why is Chris Parkin shooting 22LR ammo that has a muzzle velocity just above Mach 1?
    On the way to the target, the bullet will go through tranonic speed, and will be exposed to unnecessary turbulence, which will affect precision negatively.
    Is he not aware of this, or am I misunderstanding something?
