Those walls are 1' thick or 3/4 of a meter of mortar. It is extremely well insulated from the cold especially with a wood stove..

Always wondered what would happen when people actually build those homes featured in Mother Earth News.
I've never seen walls fabricated with split-logs and cement; interesting but I question the endurance. As the wood rots, the walls will not sustain. No data or MLS on the property, when was it built?
We live in a 1800s cabin w/ one wall made of cordwood. The cabin was moved here in 1970, and the wall is still intact. We are located in MS tho. I don't know how much difference that makes.
Cordwood homes are very efficient ! And will last a hundred years or more.

What part of Maine is this located in? I don't see a town or even county. I have family in two sections of Maine and am looking to relocate and retire there. This is very much what I was seeking but trying to get near my family. Depending on the location I would pay cash for it after coming up to walk through.
