The F-16 in my opinion remains one the best air to air platforms in DCS, very few things can pose any kind of threat to it if flown correctly. As mentioned in the video this was filmed on my server, if you wish to join all you need to do is make sure you are on the Open Beta version of DCS and you're fully up to date, there is no password or paid subscription to join it is a free server for the community to enjoy. Hope to see you guys in the DCS skies.

There should be a button you could push on DCS "Optimal Climb" that takes into account your current load-out and does the cruise-control thing to whatever target altitude and speed you specify while you lock up bandits and sling AMRAAMs.

I'm pretty sure it'll be something like 2-1 to the typhoon. The typhoon might even stand a chance against the f-22, shame the real plane hasn't had thrust vectoring implemented yet.
Typhoon is faster and Meteor would be really broken TBH
I also hope the rafale official module comes soon, will not be soon though 😢

F16 is so easy
I have tried flying DCS on a low end setup. It is pretty easy to lose situational awareness when you are having trouble maintaining control and especially when you have poor view control.
for me my problem is, my DCS freezes so frequently that i can't find anything, like if im in a dogfight and merge, at the crossing point my game will freeze for about 5+ seconds and then ive pretty much already lost at that point because i can't find the bandit and i haven't done any manuevers so yea it sucks i feel your pain

just picked up this module and I am binging videos on it now haha after flying the a10 and ka50 for a long time the f16 feels like a super weapon and damn is it fast. so fun!
You need to get a group of your friends together and have some squadron battles. It would be cool to see tactics with a bunch of aircrafts.

Great Video! I haven't finished it completely but I did have a question. I want to get into DCS VR, but I'm not sure my hardware is up to spec. I understand your not a hardware expert but I saw your VR video and decided I would be happy with that performance. I am fine with reprojection (45 FPS instead of 90) but I need the shadows and some visual quality for immersion.
I have an i5 9600k @ 4.8 Ghz and I am planning on getting the 3070 or 3060ti. Both of these cards have 8gb of VRAM. I know the 1080 Ti has 11gb. Do you ever run into VRAM issues with your 1080 ti? I would rather wait for the 3070 Ti if VRAM is important.
Oh, and thanks for the wonderful videos. I become a better (virtual) pilot everyday because of them.

Excellent video, GS. I have a question I have been 'sitting on' for awhile... I have seen you do videos where you and your opponents are in WWII aircraft(rare, I know... most of your videos, from what I know, involve jets...) but my question is: have you ever done a video and tacview of a...'furball'? What I mean is: WWII aerial engagements(from what I know) would involve large amounts of fighters(and bombers) on both sides, merging, and then engaging in what was commonly referred to as a 'furball'. I am sure you are familiar with the term... Personally, I think that would make an awesome video if you could get X number of people to join you, so you could get an engagement with say 6 or more airplanes on each side merging into a 'furball' situation...just a thought...feel free to 'shoot me and my idea down'...😁

f14, f16 and f 18 are the best all around air to air platforms not in that order because they are all so close it usually comes down to pilot skill
Maybe take the F 18 out for some pvp bvr action. I’m curious to see how it would work for you.
would be interesting to see the ecm pod get simulated as well. bvr fights would not be this straight forward

You ever fly the Tomcat at all? The latest update seemed to kill its TWS BVR abilities. The Jester AI is all messed up and switches between RWS and TWS when I crank defensively while supporting the missile.
You know... I'm actually not so sure how to read radar propperly... Maybe some kind of explanation for that in the future?

You allways have to exspect that the enemy has launched a missile at you. If your missile can reach him, his can reach you too.

Newb question. How are you not breaking the lock before the Amraam goes pitbull when you pull away at such an angle? I thought you had to keep the little circle in the big circle until pitbull. Awesome vid as always.
No that’s just the shoot cue, once the missile is launched you can crank, as long you you’re within the gimbal limit of the radar the amraam will continue to receive guidance info from your aircraft.

I'm in such a tough spot after VR. I just can't go back to TrackIR even though for dogfighting it's almost a must. It's so easy to lose your bandit in VR simply because the resolution just isn't there. Plus I love carrier ops and landing on the boat is so much more enjoyable in VR. Anybody got any tips for VR dog fighting? Maybe I'll just have to switch back and forth.
So, I only have the one free plane that DCS gives out to all new players, the frogfoot, but I was wondering if DCS models air performance with how full your tanks are. I know we can drop tanks and that aerodynamics improves but is the same true if you just load 1/2 a tank?
yes, aircraft performance improves the lighter it is, even with internal fuel loads.

If I am not wrong armenia had a squadron of su-30sm that couldnt down a single turkish TB2, while it was losing its s300 battery to AZ drones. I am I missing something here ?? was there a reason why were so useless ? anyway just a thought

How do you zoom in and out? Which controller and buttons?
I'll believe the F-16's complete air dominance once it gets pitted against a Tomcat. I know it can give the cat a hard time in a dogfight, but the F-14 is still very competitive in WVR, and it can outrange everything else in BVR. Granted its datalink isn't as good, but it seems like a pretty close match to me.
Hello, I've been keeping my eye on DCS for quite a while now and I still can't make up my mind which fighter jet like F16, F18, F14, just in general a dogfighter.
I heard the F-18 is a good plane for starters.
F18 is a good multi role, but for just dogfighting I would get the 16
