Lobster boat races at Friendship, Maine, July 24, 2016. Part of an ongoing series about Long Island and boatbuilder Steve Johnson. I went with the Johnsons to Harpswell a couple times on the Dawn in the early 80’s. Back then Stevie would swap out the engine in the Dawn from a working to a race engine. Fun times

I want to compete. How fast are some of these boats. Mine goes about 50 right now but it has been known to go faster
