The Walksnail Avatar FPV system just got a huge upgrade. The Goggles X, as the next generation of Avatar goggles are called, solve a few major problems known from previous model.
First of all, you get both HDMI and Analog input. That means, it’s possible to use Goggles X with Walksnail, Analog FPV and even HDZero. Of course only if you figure out how to attach receivers to those goggles. Unfortunately, there are no mounting points.
Second of all, new goggles have a user replaceable video receivers. If in the future Walksnail releases upgraded video link (and they stated they want to do it in 2024) you will be able to just swap the receiver board instead of buying new goggles.
On top of that, SD Card slot is finally in easily accessible place and goggles fit into case with antennas installed.
OK, you maybe loose power switch, but new changes are a very nice step forward! I’m looking forward to the summer 2024 when Caddx Walksnail should present new receivers and video transmitters. Nice!

What's the best FPV system? czcams.com/video/1hrS2hn5rvg/video.html
The one that works for you. I personally fly walks now. I think HD 0 is a good alternative too. But I have no love for the other guy.
I'm going to wait a little longer to see the improvements in these goggles, and to see that they solve the problem with overheating. After these improvements, I will definitely buy them.
Good job. You hit all the talking points given by caddx. Exact same video as every other CZcamsr.
Awesome review, Pawel! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Off-topic but there is a digital volt ohm hz meter out there. That when you stab 2 connections and push the button on the ground probe, it speaks the value of what you're testing for people like me. It's the best thing that ever was ever has blah blah blah. Thank you, Pavlo, for all your work.
I'm really looking forward to seeing proper tests on the new antennas, including the patch option. In regards to the replaceable VRX module there seems to be some mixed messages from Caddx. Something about a future intent to integrate the top cover? We will see how they respond to feedback on the topic.
They are making a analog module to mount up top they are making a new vrx also
can we use analog module with these goggles ? i lost my sky04x and now i'm lost, would like to go analog + walksnail or hdzero (no preferences)
How do I use the hdmi in for the FPV simulator it’s winter i want to use them for the simulator. To I just put the hdmi in from the computer
Is It possible to shrink down the screensize like in DJI Goggles V1/V2?
What a beautiful fame! Hahaha I hope to have it with the WS system by next year. I'm waiting to see if they bring out something smaller for tinys. This is on the right way!
There is already the 1S WS VTX. it's ofc not as light as the HDZERO (7 vs 10gramm)
What to do with the previous one? Will they continue to support them? I mean new FW updates and selling spare parts. New goggles better but I see no reason to change them because I have older model and It still works great. Flew all spring, summer and autumn 2023 and even today in -6C they were great what I can't say about my frozen fingers.
The new ones arent as clean
Hopefully the Goggles X will be available soon or else I'm grabbing a set of Skyzone O4O Pros and hooking up a Walksnail VRX. The difference would be. Goggles X___1080@100FPS, Skyzones with WS VRX___ 720@100FPS. 720 is ok.
Do any of the walksnail vtx record audio? Theres like 14 different versions to choose from bit confusing
no
Hi Pavel, about antena on goggles X,are they really that much better then previus generation? So you dont have to upgrade them
I had no time yet to do side by side comparison. There are reviews out there that say so
"...Is absolutely not a problem..."
2 sec later: "The only problem..." 😆

Thinking I'll probably wait until the updated module gets shipped with these before I move on. Will give them time to sort any issues with this iteration, and I won't have to spend anything later.
Also I see that you've got hobbits sneaking into your reviews at 6:49!
Why you need to remove washer for third party antenna?
The original ones have slightly shorter flage around SMA thread. 3rd party ones might not have a full fit with the washer. Yes, I know, suboptimal :)
Input analog video is another big problem for her polyvalence promis.
I love it. Hype about a case and no information on the fact that you can't see the edges of your OSD because you have to buy more foam to try and make them work. I'm sorry but when MadsTech said he had trouble seeing the edges of the screen that reminded me of the DJI Goggles 2 debacle. I'll wait to see when folks get them in their hands and report on the problems. The FatShark frame design was the best for Walksnail. No mounting point for HD Zero or Analog. Now that was a well thought out design by the engineers. Maybe you can use some super glue to stick it on. Non-sense, rushed to production!
That’s a personal issue, in the sense that you may have the issue, and others may not. Personally, I have never, ever had a set of goggles where the edges of the screen were NOT blurry. Well, one, the HeadPlays because they don’t work the same way. But other than that, none. Not the Dominator HD2s, not the HDOs, not the DJI v1, not the HDZeros. It’s just a fact of life for me, the edges will be blurry. So I compensate by setting the OSD farther in from the edges of the screen than most probably do. Secondary benefit is on the very big screens like DJI, I don’t have to move my eyeballs around as much to see everything. Nothing you can do about the built-in OSD elements I guess. 🤷🏼♂️
As for the mounting points, the entire front plate is removable, and they provided .step files for people to work on a design. But I do agree they should have made their own.
walksnail v1 goggles are not blurry at the edges@@swissfreek
I would buy this if they had an analogue receiver option. Not interested in digital presently even though it been around for a few years now.
They do, through an AV IN port at the bottom.
@@cinnac0n i was more interested in an in-google module, something in place of the current digital module. Any external chunky add-on is an absolute no from me. I would purchase this over the SkyzoneO4X for the improved optics... If only...
These goggles are a serious threat to HDZero.
To the HDZERO goggles, Yes, but to HDZERO, no, actually now you can have both systems together in a different way.
@@David-ty6my True, depends what HDZero’s most profitable product is.
@@wattage2007 probably the VTX/Cameras, as they are mass produced. I would guess this is where the money is made, as it is recurring revenue.
You want to make the goggles as cheap as possible to get people in your system.
hearty laffs at people looking to add analog warts onto these
no analog dvr, increased latency over regular analog goggles…
Yes, that is the main reason i won’t buy this
The thing is,m that althought thjose are not analog goggles, there are a lot of pilots that would like to have an option to use analog from time to time. Not everyone is a pro pilot. Normies are majority. Any then, such analog input makes total sense. Why to carry 2 sets of goggles when you can have digital and analog for those rare cases?
@@FPVUniversity you are right, carrying one set of goggles is much more convenient. But for me it is not a rare occasion flying analog. I fly a lot of tiny whoops, and digital is still to heavy. And i like to record those whoop flights too.
On my bigger quads digital would be very nice, but expensive. I am still not sure which system to go for (and which goggle is the best), HDZero or Walksnail….
I'll happily use hdo2's for analog, and v1 walksnail goggles for digital
@@fearlessflyersfpv420 same here - orqa v1 for analog, WS for digital.
(quite frankly my orqas have been gathering dust since i got my WS goggles. the picture quality is so good!)
The only reason they made the VRX replaceable is because the one they have is EOL. I'll be ASTOUNDED if they ever actually use it more than once. When something seems too good to be true, it usually is, and in this case this seems TOO user-friendly, so I'll remain skeptical.
Maybe other systems could be placed there? So you could have (ik MAYBE) a different Digital Platform.
Lol the ws system right now works excellent they are making it better what's wrong with that
For me, DJI V2 is still the best, the only thing they don't have is diopter adjustment.
Or OLED hd screens.....😏😏🇬🇧
@@EnglishTurbines or support from Dji, or hdmi in or out and when i tried the analog port rarely wanted to work.
@@DivisionRc Agreed, I went to Walksnail from years on analogue video ...These people are like iPhone users, they buy because their mate has one....😳😏😏😏
