THIS is now THE BEST road bike! | 2022 Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak Press Launch
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 7. 08. 2024
- When I first rode a Pikes Peak model Multistrada back in the day I FELL IN LOVE with it! Now years later, Ducati invited me out to do the press launch for their BRAND NEW Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak so to say I'm excited is a bit of an understatement. This bike is better in every way and to top it all off I got to ride the tires off of it all through beautiful California hills!

Dude! Love it! Thanks for sharing so much footage of me! That bike was a BLAST! Definitely a sleeper for sure.
A sleeper? Come on man! Not a sleeper for those who ride them and have been riding them for years! Where have you been?
â@@lpete531 not sure if you understood what I meant when I called it a sleeper. In my opinion when you look at the bike, it looks like a nice Dad bike. Thanks to the adjustability with the electronics you can make it a Grandma bike or a 17-year-old who just found out his girlfriends parents aren't home bike. đ
@@joshherrin Could you tell me which settings you modified on the bike. Thanks for any assistance! I enjoyed seeing you rip it!
@@chellouniquestyle I put it in race mode and turned the wheelie control, traction control and ABS to the lowest possible setting or off if available and turned the power settings all of the way up. I also adjusted the front and rear suspension to the stiffest setting for a single rider. It is possible to go even stiffer by selecting that you have a passenger and bags on the bike but I didn't feel the need to do that.
Super excited about the new bike your racing this year! Your my favorite motovloger/ tracer/ motivational speaker
Always a good video with you guys, but this one is on another level because you are having a blast! A long 27 min vid felt like 5 mins...so I had to watch it again!
Keep them coming and have more fun!
I could watch this over and over. Time to start looking more seriously at this bike!!
These sport adventure bikes look more and more appealing! You can just fill up and go rip the roads and trails all day. Room to carry food and gear, seems like a good time! I want to explore đïžđïž
I've only ridden the 950 sport but it has been one of my favorites ever since. Can't wait to try the Pikes Peak!
Of course Josh Herrin is a nice guy as always. That was nice to see. At Miller Motorsports Park years ago after hotpit closed he made sure everyone who wanted pics and signatures got them
This was super fun to watch which tells me you had a blast actually riding !!! Go Ducati
Great ride and great footage. Also just got through watching 44 teeth which was also their own spin on reviewing this motorcycle. When I heard this bike was coming out I actually put my order immediately for it knowing that it was the closest sport enthused multistrada Sense my current 1st ducati. Which was the 2014 multi strada 1200 GT.. So I am very excited to hear about all the positive defeat back about the spike getting back to its heritage of being a multi sport bike.đđđȘ
I am not a big fan of Ducati even though I am italian but the V4 i is an amazing machine !! And i like the enthusiasm that you put in your motorcycle reviews
Cheers đ» đ â from Canada đšđŠ
The way this thing looks like it holds a line in a corner is incredible.
If you think it looks like that you should try it for yourself. It's incredible.
i love this video. Funny and informative, that's the way it should be.. thanks
Always been a dream bike for me!! All the best!!!
Thx for this amazing video! Greetings from Germany!
Nice. Iâm very excited about this, The #âs are phenomenal , Riding looks exceptionally well & I would most definitely love to seeee MORE OUT THERE. Hands Down đđŒđđŒ I agree on the price for suRe! Therefore, in order for more of these Beauties to be seen perhaps something can be done đđđŒđ«
So fun watching you all ride together. Good stuff. âBruh, I canât talk!?!?!?!?â Was that Jamie up there in front of Josh?
Great review. Thanks for posting. If you have to choose a bike between 1260 Pikes Peak and this V4 Pikes Peak, what would you choose?
Well done Chase, you smashed it again. Your the only guy to really put out video of the 2022 pikes peak . Great for me as Iâve ordered one. Where are the British guys,Come On.? đŹđ§
There were a few people in my group that make great content so thereâs videos coming for sure! Iâd watch for MotoGeo to publish theirs.
44teeth were there. They were the only Brits invited.
Months after owning one, agreed. Best bike Ducati has ever made. Thanks Chase đ
ahhh, good to see you again, the last video I saw you was on Kawasaki ZX10R, Wrecked bike rebuild season 2 I guess đ
Two questions I haveâŠ1 how does the suspension compare with the skyhook? Is it different enough concerning the quality of the ride and how the skyhook soaks up the imperfections in the road? 2 concerning ergonomics does the slightly higher position detract from the comfort for someone who might be 6â tall? 3 Do you think the 19â wheel tames down the handling on the V4S too much? Think I would prefer the 17â as I have on my current MS. Great vid!
I feel the previous generation 1260 Pikes Peak is sexier, but the new V4 Multistrada absolutely feels more refined, smoother, and a better bike overall, especially for long distance riding. Great video as usual.
Might be a thing ya need to see in person because this one was stunning!
It certainly looked better than this V4 version.
Look forward to you doing a full review đ
I love this bike. I really wish there was a way to fit highway pegs for doing big trips. I have a K1600 and am thinking of replacing it with this, but after 4-5 hours I need to change my foot position and need a second set of pegs.
great vid Chase! I think this is the first press review for the PPV4. very jealous. The 2021 batch had problems with the engine recall. Has this all been sorted out?
Yammie is definitely not invited! đ€Łđ€Ł
Love the range of my 2020 Multistrada 1260 Enduro but the Pikes Peak is amazing.
March-and-sini haha love it!
RIP Carlin Dunne. Was hoping they would put his name on the bike somewhere since he's the one that raced the Multi on Pikes Peak.
Thatâs up to you! You can buy a sticker and put on as a memory of an amazing guy!
Kinda creepy having the name of some Dead guy you don't know, then have everyone bug the shit out of you asking "Who's that guy's name on the Tank" , I'll pass on that
Yea absolutely
*Solid video!*
I know he was âfan girlingâ chillin with the legend josh Herrin
TBH I wasn't really that familiar with Josh before this but after hanging out with him for the day I'm definitely a fan!
I was actually "fan girling" over Chase when I saw him as I pulled up to the hotel. LOL
Beautiful bike i'd love one maybe something like this would be my mid life cirses instead of a car.
DWC and DTC must be off or you can't wheelie this bike. You may get some front tire lift between gears but you can't sustain a wheelie unless those settings are off. DWC and DTC are both tied together.
So funny I was working on the side of the road by idyllwild and saw y'all driving by
*Hello. If it's not difficult, tell me what microphone do you use in the helmet? And do you post sound processing?*
Josh out there straight up putting the bike to the test!
always! Bikes are made to put a smile on your face!
Is that Josh Herrin?! Hell yeah !
Hell yeah! I had a blast riding this thing!
Josh is the best kind of hooligan đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Yea he was pretty awesome to get to ride with for sure!
@@chaseontwowheels Haha dude i bet! Glad you got the opportunity to do this đ
That's all we are! A bunch of squids!
That bike would have a home in my dream garage for sure. I haven't been on a pikes peak edition but have been on a v4 and riding that bike was a ahh haa moment for me I totally understand why these bikes are where all bikers will eventually end up.
There is no better engine than a 4 cylinder. The smooth perfect balance, and top end scream. And then you do almost 180 horsepower in a V4 configuration, and you have near Hayabusa levels of performance, with similar low end torque. People who have only ridden a V-Twin have no idea what a real engine feels like. A V-twin always feels like it's going to self destruct at higher RPM's, but a 4 cylinder gets smoother the higher you rev it. A 4 cylinder can be lugged really slow without shaking or chain lash, which is another massive benefit for slow speed driving.
Cool.
What pack do you have on?
Got one on order .due in early 2022. Canât wait. đđđ
Craig.. Any news on delivery date? I placed my order and deposit in Nov and of course I am getting anxious đ
@@bp5401 no news as yet. I placed my order early December and paid deposit đ€
@@bp5401 was told Iâd missed first deliveries as they sold out. Mines due in July.
Great video⊠After getting a chance to hoon this bike (with Josh Herrin and Jake Zemke) closer to itâs intended capabilities, I wonder what your thoughts are on the V4S for canyon carvingâŠ. The PP is awesome, but I do put my bike on fire roads, light off-road duty, and I am seriously considering the V4S
I canyon carve with a V4S no problems.
Thank you for the video. Could you tell us the model of the jacket you are wearing? It is not the one that is listed in the description section. Thank you!
My 05 MTS has hill assist via the back brake which I gently release with the clutch and hey presto I actually go forwards - Fucking amazing!
Late December where do they hold this,,,Palm Springs,,, perfect
IÂŽm planning on trading in my 950SP Hypermotard for the Pikes Peak...
But - it does lack when it comes to "coolness" compared to my blacked out Hyper.
Still can't decide if this should be a thing or if I give a damn about it and just go for the best ride possible.
It only matters if youâre a massive poser.
That is awsome man ! Cant wait to see my Multistrada pike peak
You ordered one?
@@chaseontwowheels I ordered it long before it was published.
The prior model standard multi comes with a 17 inch front, so if you get a used s model you're getting a very similar package. They are all very capable of hardcore sport riding, and unless you are competing you don't need the extras on the pikes peak (though it's no doubt a very cool combination). A multi was the first thing I ever put my knee down on, just a standard S model.
It's all good until you have to deal with timing belts and DESMO...đđ
I like the 1260S but not dealing with the aforementioned B.S.
@@GIGABACHI With the exception of 18k services, it's just oil changes. Neither of mine needed adjustment at 18k or 36k. And if the desmo system is still too much then maybe the V4 is the one to get.
Canât wait to get mine on 1st March
Awesome bike !!
Chase I'd like to see you do a road trip video on this or some other bike. Something long distance, at least 1k miles round trip.
I love the multistrada but I see very little sense on the pikes peak (other than single side swingarm ;) ). It's like $5k more than the regular multi and you loose the bags and heatted butt. It will be more track capable than the regular multi but if you want to go to the track go for a Panigale.
dribbling here.... thx!
Is it still the same Desmo valvetrain?
Thank you
Pretty sure Touring mode is full power but a less aggressive throttle map compared to Sport.
Yes ! My mode of choice on my 2015 1200 !!! They are fabulous machine!!!!đđđđđđđđđșđșđșđș
Great bike and a video!
Anyways I do have a gear wise question. On the video you wear textile jacket while in the description there is a link to full leather jacket. Can you tell me what jacket you wear on the video? It looks super comfy.
Thanks!
Your totally right. Iâm this video I was wearing an Enginehawk Knucklehead
Only 30 grand, I'll pickup a couple extra shifts lol
AYYYY this bike looks sick
Hi! Have you ever ridden a KTM 1290 Super duke GT? Can you compare? Thanks.
Is this fully assembled
Dream bike right here.
can you still put off road tires on it ?
MT-10 SP or Pikes Peak??
Proud of Italy on two wheels
What is the backpack you are wearing?
Thats a weapon, a nice one :)
Which road is this ?
what is the make and model of your helmet?
What's the gas mileage like on the Pikes, I have a SFV4 I love it but it is thirsty AF, is this Pikes the same with its thirst for the Dino juice?
Came here to ask this... My SFV4 DRINKS LIKE AN IRISHMAN
Last fill-up I got 27 MPG. I wouldn't really care about the mileage but the fuel light turns on after three gallons. I've never gotten more than 100 miles on a single tank.
Nice bike, but I like the look of the previous L twin 1260
Wait for a regular maintenance interval bill and the joy of owning a ducati will fizzle out.đ đ€Ł
The schedule on new ducatis is way better than it used to be. A valve check is something like every 20,000 miles now. They use cam chains now too remember, instead of belts.
Around 30k first service. How can that be so bad?
Prob the only bike id upgrade my Hyper to
Am I right no sky hook suspension on the pikes peak ? Iâd rather save a bit of money and get the v4 rally with sky hook suspension & add an after market exhaust đ
The Pikes Peak departs from normal Multi V4 convention in its use of Ăhlins latest Smart 2.0 suspension, which is what they refer to as an âevent-basedâ system. Itâs the same stuff used in the Panigale V4 S and Streetfighter V4 S. The other Multisâ Skyhook dampers are constantly measuring suspension stroke and speed, but the Smart 2.0 fork and shock also rely more on the bikeâs IMU to know when youâre accelerating hard or braking hard or whatever, to also inform the damping. Ducati says it âautomatically adjusts the setting according to the userâs riding style⊠the more the rider pushes to the limit the suspensions get stiffer.â The Smart system provides 6.7 inches wheel travel, front and rear; the Skyhook on the other Multis gives 6.7/7.1 in.
Still my favorite motorcycle that I will probably never get as long as I am married.
The BMW S1000XR should give it a run for its money. I was torn between waiting to get this or the XR, I ended up getting the XR for a bit of cost savings after I found out the price on the Pikes Peak. Great review, makes me want to test ride this now.
Was that Jake Zemke???? Wow. Cool. 12:41 CBR1000 beast.
Yes
The number one
I have a v2 pikes peak, do you think itâs worth the upgrade
There no such thing like v2 pikes peak.
@@nebojsatanasic4112 he means the original twin cylinder pikes peak model
WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
your wish came through... Ducati heard you Chase!!
The daddy missle
What are the engine RPM's at 75mph? Is the top gear final drive ratio setup for high speed cruising? A major glaring problem with all new bikes is that they do not have an overdrive gear. There must be a manufacturer secret agreement to avoid giving people a proper overdrive. Because most new motorcycles are geared 50% lower than they should be at 70mph.
Think about it. With an overdrive gear and 50% reduction in RPM's in 6th gear, you get:
Large reduction in emissions, allowing more aggressive tune.
Increased valve service intervals.
Double the oil filter, spark plug and oil life.
Massive reduction in engine heat, engine wear, and vibration.
Longer timing chain life.
Longer engine life.
Massive increase in gas mileage.. (36 mpg is NOT acceptable for a 530 pound vehicle).
KTM 1290's have an overdrive 6th. You need to be going at least about 70 to use it well. I think the theoretical top speed at redline would ne about 200 MPH on my 1290 KTM's. Then the KTM guys complain it's too high and gear it down a tooth or two....
I agree with you, most bikes are too short geared.
A possible reason for engineers not installing an overdrive 6th is that rider may risk to lock the wheel when downshifting in 5th?
Chase--You or anyone here ever ride a KTM Superduke GT-? That's my current bike and darn good. Wonder how it would compare. What kind of gas mileage? I believe it is 30-35 MPG. Not great for a tourer. GT gets 40-45 MPG.
I want to know too! Love my SD GT. But this bike has me second guessing.
@@kj385 4000-mile update on my PP. It's a 9.5. The GT is. 8.0. I can feel the money. The suspension and all the flexibility in Ohlins suspension adjustments make it a superior machine in this context. The GT reissued--re-reissed, is about 2.5 generation old Superduke converted. Whacking torque the SD GT advantage but the PP is within a handful of horsepower on my same local dyno. Handles more like my KTM Duke R did than the GT did. But here comes the new BMW XR1000R 210 HP.
The depreciation on this is gonna be INTEEEEEEEENSE.
why
Those who are in full racing gear must be professional riders. That's how you determine how good they are - just a hint.
Wow đČ
I want it. I own a Kawasaki Z900rs and a KLX 300....IM selling them both to put money towards a Pike Peak!
How is the fuel economy? i heard it is terrible in the V4S so i guess it is the same on this one.
Hearing 30-35 MPG. Almost the deal breaker. But maybe not quite. I hate to stop twice a day for moderate tours.
Now I have to add this to my dilemma of new bike for 2023. Ducati Diavel V4 , Triumph Rocket 3R, Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes peak. Decisions decisions decisions???
It cancels the gyroscopic effect of the front wheel. Simples.
Dude, I love it, the best bike on the Planet so far, but too too expensive from far away! 31 K euro in Europe, not possible for 99% of riders....
17 inch wheels single sided swing arm back to the original 1260
Nice helmet.
The secret is.... Drum-roll..... More cylinders = better driveability. Single cylinder bikes, and unbalanced V-Twins, are just not fun at super low speeds in traffic, or at super high RPM's, at maximum revs. A V4 has better low speed manners.
What so many riders don't understand is that a 4 cylinder engine makes the very best street engine, due to how smooth it is. I am not familiar with the newest V-twin engines, but I rode a Suzuki SV1000 V-twin, and it had the V-Strom engine, and it was absolutely horrible compared to a 4 cylinder, because of how intrusive and annoying the engine vibration was.
Singles and V-Twins don't like going super slow, because of the drivetrain lash, and they are not as smooth at higher RPM's. There are stories of Harey V-Rod riders that ride a Hayabusa one time, and they switch to a Hayabusa, because it's so much smoother.
$30 grand. Should be nice. đ F Brakes should toss you over the bars.
great bike but price tag is far too high.
Excited to be invited to the press ride. But that did not stop you from giving an analytical review of the bike right ? To your credit you somewhat implied this - but probably better to just say -hi, today I am a stooge for ducati marketing. You canât even pronounce akropovic.
Loads of people pronounce akropovic wrong, he's not the only one. Chris, most Americans say ducati wrong, lol! And ducati aren't forcing anybody to say anything, they're not reading from a script, and are allowed to have their own opinion, even if they say the bike is total shit
the best road bike ever?
what i would do for a motorcycle.
Work and save.
