This retro Bianchi road bike was kindly donated to me when I discovered a secret bicycle collection I had to share at the bicycle shop Life on Wheels.
I have personally been after a vintage Bianchi bicycle for some time and I could not believe it when Mitch the owner kindly gifted the bike to me.
The video shows this stunning Italian bicycle being completely stripped down, cleaned polished and repainted, before being built back up like new. This Bianchi really has been a dream bike build for me and taking it out on the road for a ride was a dream come true. This is one bicycle that will be keeping and adding to my own personal bicycle collection.
The video shows the full bike restoration, including the build and an epic ride. Plus hints, tips and help with your own projects along the way.
Watch as this Bianchi road bike is completely restored to like new condition.

One of your very best builds, Andy! Beautiful. Nothing like a Bianchi with that history, that colour and that groupset . . . who cares if Deltas don't stop you so well? They look fantastic. My only very slight disappointments are that you didn't stay with the Celeste green saddle and bar tape . . . and the chromed front forks. Whatever, I can totally understand why you're keeping this one, Andy . . . it's stunning and I hope you have many happy hours on it!
Glad you enjoyed it thank you for watching its much appreciated. Take care, all the best
Agree one of your best builds
Delta brakes were never designed to 'stop' you... they're a racing brake designed to shave off speed. But set up correctly, they work great. I had a set for over 20 years and never an issue to stop. Most ppl don't know how to get them just right. Currently riding a celeste XR1... awesome bike! #celesteisbest
What a beauty! It gives me such pleasure to see how much pleasure you take in the restoration and the test ride. It also makes me take more pleasure in riding my own vintage machines.
Mark, thanks buddy….these steel bikes really are lasting the test of time and have something very special about them. Keep pedalling buddy all the best 👍
To be honest the bike looked great at the outset. Admirable Italian elegance.
I once rode a Bianchi bike across a parking lot here in the USA, just to see how it went. I was gobsmacked at how fast it felt!
Really nice looking Bianchi. I have a 1995 Racing Department TSX UL, with the Super Set of tubing (downtube ovalized at the bottom bracket) Back then, I built the frameset up with an 8 speed Chorus drivetrain, except with an older Super Record front derailleur (with the black links). I never cared for Campy brake calipers because they lacked the fine tuning, when you used different wheels with different rims. I Committed heresy by using 7403 dual pivot Dura Ace calipers......I raced on it for 5 years before setting it aside for something new. A few years ago, I pulled it out and threw on some 9 speed Dura Ace 7700 components. I left on the Super Record front changer because it worked well with the indexed Shimano left shifter. It's my Sunday bike now.
PS. I have a couple of those cages, but I found that water bottles will eventually wear the paint off of that Aluminum tubing. I replaced them with the same brand, with the same buttons, but in stainless steel.....PSS. I've always had trouble with breaking the rails on Rolls saddles, after 4 years. I've broken three of them, over the years. I now use the old S.I. Flite (1990 style)
My frame is a 59, with a 14cm ITM Eclipse stem, with ITM 260 42cm bars.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experiences and recommendations. Much appreciated happy cycling buddy
Thats gorgeous,I was hoping youd fit Delta brakes. It was nice before, but you lifted the bar again👍👍👍
Thanks buddy glad you liked what I did, all the best Andy
My favorite so far! Takes me back to mid 80s and a Iowa kid dreaming about an Italian bike I knew I’d never have. Maybe now is the time
Glad you liked it hope it brought back some great memories all the best
Before was a cheap Bianchi now is a Bianchi thanks for your care . Italian job🤗
Much appreciated 🙏
I applaud your optimism breaking out the t-cut 😁
😉 you have to try….it takes a bigger man to accept defeat. So handy having Mark on hand. Thanks for watching and your support
Haven't watched for a while mate...then this popped up...My all time dream, Bianchi bikes. I got myself a white Bianchi Strada some time back, it had a stuck seat post, but fitted me......did it up...not as much as you though, and sold it on to a guy who fitted it like me, so the saddle height mattered not....it looked amazing when done. This one you just did....Bellissimo, Truly a reworked and stunning job....
Thanks so much for your kind words of support, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for sharing your own Bianchi bike. Thanks for tuning and watching all the best 🚴♂️
I am doing a build on a Bianchi Giro. Using a Campagnolo Record 11 group set and ultra torch cranks from a different frame. I have to get a new derailleur hanger. Had to get some new bracket cups for the cranks. I am not done yet but am really learning alot and having fun along the way. Thanks for your channel and great content.
Thanks for watching and your support glad you enjoy the channel
I got a Bianchi that was old when I bought it and got it working. I didn't realize how lucky I was to pay what I did for it. I've owned it now for 15 years and I've just decided to start getting it a bit more up to date. Great video and you can see the passion you have.
Thanks for watching great to hear your keeping going. 🌎 😉👍
Beautifully done. Keep it! I’ve got an old 1962 Bianchi Gran Sport.
Thanks and yes it’s still in my collection 👍
What a beautiful bike it's nice to see old bikes on the road
Glad you liked it thanks for the support
The best one ever. You are the owner of a very beautiful bike!
Couldn't agree more! Thank you for tuning in and watching
Andy, what a Bobby dazzler this one is! I was truly pulling for you so you'd be able to save the original paint, but when T Cut fails, then there is no other option but to contact Mark the paint wizard. I was lucky to find a 1982 Bianchi Nuovo Racing with a well preserved original celeste paint. A very respectful salute from Texas. Cheers!
Many thanks for watching and your support it’s much appreciated. Yes, it’s definitely of benefit having Mark on board. Thanks again and all the best
Another stoater Andy, enjoy👍🚴♀️🏴
Thanks buddy I sure will, all the best take care
Would love one of these in my collection, especially in that colour
Thanks for watching glad you like it
Love Bianchi bikes, TKS for another great vídeo.
Cheers from Portugal 😎
By the way, great sound 😉
@@JoaoPaulo-lr6wh Thanks buddy for the support and comment glad you liked it and Im just glad the sound was better. All the very best Andy
wow. that build is awesome. I got my hands on a bianchi record 920. Its white. And i only switched braking pads, cabels, cabelhousing, bar tape and the downtube shifters. well costed me 140€ so far. Shame that i am not that experienced and thats why my braking and shifting isnt as smoth as i wanted it to be. i might bring it to a shop to get that done i think.
Glad you like the restoration I hope you get yours fixed 👍 Thanks for watching
What a thing of beauty 😍😍😍!! I’m in love with this.
Glad you like it thanks for your support 👍🚲
Cool bike with the first gen ergopower, c record, and delta brakes, I like it a lot
Yes it’s on now in my collection thanks for watching
It would be perfect with a C-Record seat-post on, and the handlebar is slightly not properly aligned. Lovely bike 🤘🏼
Thanks for the advice and watching
Mark does his magic again. Beautiful.
Yes he’s an absolute legend 👍 Thanks for your support
It's shiny it excites
Thanks for watching
Congrats and FINALLY :D

Another masterpiece 🚴

You’ve excelled yourself there Andy! That’s a thing of beauty indeed. Amazing job. 👏🏻
Thank you so much 😀 Glad you like it thanks for watching and your support
Stunning refurbishment Andy! I agree with you changing the saddle and bar tape to tone down the celeste theme. Machina stupenda!
Many thanks for watching and your support it’s much appreciated 👍
Love Bianchi. Have a new one.
I’d never had one till this one, your a lucky man
@@BikeItUK Had to sell my motorcycle to get it. 😏
I absolutely love your channel. I went to high school in the latter half of the 80s and loved riding and following pro cycling. My dream bike back then was the Dutch Team PDM with their Concorde Squadra SLX frames and full campy. The two tone white/black with red/green/blue swirl. I had the poor man's version with Columbus Aelle tubing and 6spd shimano 105 back then. Would love to see you restore one of those team machines!
Mate, it's so on my hit list. So much scope with the riders and I already have the matching kit. Because they are sort after most are in great condition and bringing a premium so I just looking for the right one to bring back to life, so to speak. Watching this space because Im looking. Thanks for your support its much appreciated.
Love those delta brake calipers! And yes, I too could listen to the freewheel spinning all day!
Hello my friend, thanks for watching and your support. I've just Subbed you, I'll check out some of your content now. Great to see like minded people sharing knowledge and passion for bicycles and cycling
@@BikeItUK Thanks Andy! Yes, I agree. Your videos are great and a bit more professionally produced than mine. I do enjoy them.
Absolutely lovely. An Italian beauty!! Bianchi, De Rosa, Colnago are the Three Graces of steel bikes. Gorgeous restoration!!
Huge thanks…De Rosa is on the list still not done one….watch this space thanks for your support happy pedalling 🚴♂️👍
Well done, Andy! Well done. The saddle and bar tape in black tone the appearance down and the result is elegance!!
Nice one buddy thanks for the support it’s much appreciated
stunning resto Andy, looked like you enjoyed that one and what a bike to have in your personal collection! Marks paint work looks great and those Delta brakes, wow! cheers
Thanks for the support buddy glad you enjoyed it. I've been after a Bianchi for years, so huge thanks to Mitch for that. Thanks again its much appreciated
Absolutely beautiful build, I love Bianchi bicycles. I currently own a Bertoni road bike and I was told that my Bertoni frame was built in the same Reparto Courso shop as Bianchi frames are made. Anyway thank you for sharing ☺.
Thanks for the info! Bianchi also built bikes for Puch. All interesting stuff.
What an inspiration. I have an early 90's Eros that I'd like to paint and restore. Thank you for encouraging me to doit
Thanks glad you enjoyed it
I am rebuilding a Bianchi Trofeo :). Thanks for the video
Glad you liked it, thanks for the support
Magnificent restoration! I own a 1986 Bianchi Nuova Racing, which I still use three times a week......ride on!
Good to hear 🚴♂️ glad you enjoyed the restoration. Thanks for your support and watching. All the best 👍
Would love a Bianchi, fantastic job
Thanks glad you like it. Im sure you'll find a way of owning one yourself. Thanks for the support
Wow! Well done. I bet it is a delight to ride.
Thanks for the support glad you like it, and yes it’s great to ride 👍🚴♂️
Beautiful, amazing projekt, a real magician transforming a rusting frame into a pristine Columbus one.......
Much appreciated thanks for your support 😉👍
You can't beat a steel Bianchi - beautiful job.
Many thanks glad you like it 😉👍
Bellissima! Andy - You've more than done her proud. Beautiful restoration and an Incredible bike to keep. Superb!
Thanks buddy 😉 much appreciated
I quite literally gasped when you pulled out the delta brakes! Beautiful restoration
😉👍 Plenty more to come…thanks for watching and your support
Don't blame you for holding on to this one Andy! Enjoy riding and owning it! Oh, and another brilliant film - really enjoyed it as always!
Much appreciated many thanks for watching and your support
Awesome job. Love my Bianchi’s!
Thanks glad you like it
Absolutely stunning restoration and a dream bike!! Congrats 🙏🙏
Much appreciated glad you like it 👍
This vid is one of your finest creations. Your passion is inspiring. Thank you!
Your very welcome, and thank you for your kind words of support it really is appreciated and why I do what I do 👍
What a BEAUTIFUL bike and always such a pleasure watching your videos!!
Thanks 🙏 glad you enjoy them your support is much appreciated 👍
Another beautiful bike, Andy, and well worth the trouble and expense. It give me pleasure to see how much you enjoy these restorations and the test rides afterwards. You're an inspiration to others who like vintage bikes. It's at least partly due to you that I got a Kirk Precision and spent a fair amount getting it done up (btw, taking it out for a ride shortly).
Thanks Mark, your support is very much appreciated. 😉👍 Enjoy the ride back buddy
Awesome Machine .. Built to perfection..
Glad you like it, your support is much appreciated
Brilliant restoration Andy. That bike is now a real head turner. Thank you for making such great content and sharing your passion. All the best buddy.
Hay thanks buddy, for the continued positive support you give! All the best pal
I love my Bianchi. I believe it is a little older than yours...maybe from the early 80's? Really enjoyed this build as I enjoy all your restorations. Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it, many more to come
Great build as always mate 👍🏼
I just finished a Columbus Genius Fausto Coppi + 7410 build on Tuesday myself and it’s a brilliant thing, these old Italian bikes are special.
Totally agree with you on recycling these old gems, steel is real.
Steel is real, I have many bikes I ride some even carbon. But these bikes will definitely out live us all and continue to give us please 👍
Thanks for your support it’s appreciated 😉
Maior de todas as clássicas e a veloz Bianchi ❤
Thanks 🙏
My goodness that is beautiful!
Thanks glad you like it
Super Nice!! Vintage Campagnolo is the bomb. Nothing like it. Well done.
Thanks for watching and support glad you enjoyed it.
Absolutely stunning. Fantastic job👍
Thank you! Cheers!
This is a beautiful build! Once again, MR did a really amazing job with the paintwork and your component selection is choice. I have a 1990 Bianchi Limited (Colombus Cromor, Shimano 105 7-speed SIS) that I bought new. Originally white, I had it refinished in December in the correct celeste...and kept the matching saddle and handlebar tape on! When I stopped on a ride last week a passing jogger pointed at the bicycle and shouted out: "That's beautiful!" And they are, so I wish you much joy with yours, Andy.
Mate, that’s great thanks for sharing your personal experience. I’m very happy with it and yes I’ll definitely be getting out on it again. Thanks for watching and your support it’s appreciated 👍
Don't blame you for keeping this one for yourself, as good as any modern bike but oozes class and timeless looks from when people and not machines built bikes.
Love it…nice comment. Thanks for your kind words of support much appreciated, glad you enjoyed it 👍🚴♂️
Beautiful restoration. I’m a big fan of these classic frames with a special affinity for Bianchi, and your passion for this project is contagious. So thank you so much for sharing!
I must say that it hurts my eyes to see the frame clamped that way though. I always clamp my bicycles by the seat post to avoid any potential damage to the frame. Cheers!
Thanks for watching glad you enjoy the channel. If the camera isn’t rolling I generally clamp from the seat tube. It’s loose and just raises the bike for the camera 👍
Simply Beautiful! Keep the vids coming.
Thanks yes many more to come
I'd say stunning work as always, but you've really outdone yourself this time! Magnificent!
Wow, huge thanks glad you like it. Your support is much appreciated.
Yes, definitely upped your game and learnt from some brilliant professionals too. graham, mitch et al
PERFECT BIKE 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Much appreciated, glad you like it
Beautiful bicycle! Brilliant work! 👍
Much appreciated glad you like it
Totally agree on the resto build thing! Did exactly that with my 1988 custom Colmbus SL frame which npw has Campagnolo 11 speed Centaur groupset…despite being 34 years old is such a smooth and silent ride.
If you know….you know!
Thanks for watching and your comment on the Bianchi. All the best for the new year
Outstanding!! You have my dream bike!!!
Many thanks glad you like it
Hey Andy
congratulations on the fine bike and the most beautiful gear group ever made, campagnolo C Record with delta brakes.
Regards Benni👍👍👍🚵♀️🚵♀️
Much appreciated glad you like it. Thanks for your support
What a bike...... 👍
Glad you like it thanks for the support
Simply fantastic…love this bike you did an amazing job. Loved the groupset you chose finishes the bike off nice. All the best from Canada. John.
Thanks John, glad you liked it thanks for your support it’s much appreciated 👍
Congratulations on this magnificent work! Bianchi is undoubtedly the mythical Italian brand par excellence. The beauty, consecrated celeste green color and Campagnolo brightening this montage make it definitely a work of art to be displayed. Greetings from this Brazilian vintage racing bike enthusiast. Hugs!
Many thanks your continued support it is much appreciated. 🙏 🚴♂️😉
Stunning job, defo a keeper!
😉 for sure, glad you like it 👍🚴♂️
Fantastic build! I love older Bianchi’s in Celeste, and I have been looking for one in my size.
Glad you liked it, it’s definitely one I’ll be treasuring. Thanks for your support, and good luck on finding yours 🚲👍
Lovely, a keeper indeed.
Thanks for watching
Surperb job Andy. Looks awesome.
Thanks for the support glad you like it
As you say Andy, "Brilliant!" That Bianchi is beautiful, it definitely is my favorite Italian bicycle, Colnago comes in second. Love the Bianchi color, proud to say I have 3, one of which is a Bianchi Reparto Corse TSX tubing. I have Delta brakes in a box, they are nice looking, however braking is not my favorite and switched them out for the reliable and positive C-Record calipers.
Couldn't agree more! 😉 thanks for watching and your support it’s much appreciated
WOW with Delta and you were able to stop without a problem 👊👊
😂 Good job I have a strong grip 👍 Thanks for watching and your support
Really enjoyed that one Andy!
What a great looking bike!
No wonder Bianchi mostly stick with that one colour, soo cool!!
Didn’t know they were the oldest bike company, interesting!
I like the little history bits
Thanks, glad you enjoy the history part I do try and keep it brief. Thanks again all the best 👍
That is just so lovely, It also looks better toned down, I think some go overboard on the Celeste.
I love my vintage bikes with more modern components, the beauty of vintage steel with the usability of integrated shifters.
PS. I've found and amazing stripper for vintage paint, B&Q's own Dail brand, paint it on, cover with foil and leave overnight, just peels off, doesn't work on modern 2k though.
Thanks Mick for watching your support and paint stripping advice, it much appreciated. Glad you liked and enjoyed the Bianchi, many more to come 👍
@@BikeItUK you are very welcome, I love your 'sunny outlook' the happy cycling channel 😂🤣
SLX with C-Record and Delta's. YES!!! The only way that could have been any better is to have had proper downtube shifters off of the 80's
Thanks glad you enjoyed it, many more to come thanks for your support
The matching jersey for this bike is the World Champion jersey, just like Francesco Moser used to ride his Bianchi, an iconic set.
Thanks for the knowledge it’s much appreciated 👍 Happy cycling
Awesome restoration & Video Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching glad you liked it
classic choice of group for a classic frame Andy. I can't imagine a Bianchi without a Campag group on it!
Glad you liked it, your continued support is much appreciated 👍😉
Spot on!
Another fantastic video, Andy! I love the upgrade to the brifters. I've done this as well on my personal bike. Thanks for putting yourself out there and please keep making videos! -Mike's Bikes Work
Huge thanks for your kind words of support glad you enjoyed it. All the best
Many thanks again, the shifters definitely make the bike more usable. Is Mikes bikes work your channel?
@@BikeItUK I don't have a CZcams channel. I rebuild vintage bikes and put them on my website and on Instagram. I'd go crazy if I had to edit videos. That's why I appreciate so much what you do.

Andy you happy boy! This is such a wonderful bike. That gorgeous Record groupset is just part of it. Just carefully - Deltas do not brake very much :-)) . Congratulations and greetings Marek
Hello my friend, thanks it means a lot. You do some amazing work also, its great to watch. Thanks for your support its much appreciated
Hey Andy :) am thrilled to see another episode of crak on !!! and so happy i didnt miss this Biachi SLX restoration, beautiful work on everything form the video to the history of Bianchi to the restoration work and deetails , the bike looks gorgeous all components go so well together my only doubt was on the stem i thought the one it had on looked good however is part of the upgrades and looks great . Your smile as you changed into your Bianchi kit was worht the whole thing!! keep on cracking my friend, kudos for keeping your passion going , all the best .
Hay buddy, long time I hope life is treating you well. Glad you like the Bianchi it’s definitely a keeper. I’ve got a load of bikes to get through so definitely committed now….watch this space, plenty more on the way. Thanks again my friend 👍
