  • Hey all! In this video I break down how I understand the fundamentals of carving on a longboard for beginners. I go through the foot positioning, weight distribution, and shoulder movements necessary to carve successfully, and review step-by-step how to carve safely! Please let me know if this makes sense, and please leave a comment or send me a DM on IG if you have any questions! I'd also very much appreciate any feedback you may have on how I might make my videos better.

    What do you recommend for wheel size, shape for just carving around town (not tricks or sliding, just tight turns and versatile for roughish urban terrain)?

    • @DrJinKwon
      @DrJinKwon  Před 2 lety +1

      for pure commuting generally larger wheels are more comfortable over rougher terrain especially, but you lose versatility and maneuvreability. 70-75 mm wheels with either sharp or rounded edges might be good for you, depending on how tight the turns you want to make are.

    This was really a great, short, and informative video! I'm a beginner and just want to ask (if you don't mind) if it's possible to do carving like that on a rigid longboard, or if I can do cruising on a freeride board that's stiffer?

    • @DrJinKwon
      @DrJinKwon  Před rokem +1

      really appreciate that! absolutely! the fundamentals are all the same. you may have to play around a little with foot positioning, and it's more critical to bend your knees with a shorter, more rigid board, but you can absolutely still carve the same way

    Don’t agree with leg position!
    Legs must be equal amount pass the edge.

      In your stance when your back leg pushes more in one direction, but lacks the other, you can’t control your board properly.
