i read 196 books to be happy.
Reading used to be fun. Now, books are packets of information we consume to try to make ourselves feel better about our mediocre lives. Why? And what can we do about it?

This is actually crazy how reading turned into some cemented blueprint. I've fallen into this trap myself only to discover that for maximum growth it's even better to read both fiction and non-fiction, that speed of reading can be vastly different, books can be left unfinished if they are not enjoyable or valuable, it's normal to read 10+ books at the same time like we did at school lol etc. This is a whole creative process in itself, almost like a whole little world.
thanks for sharing! :)
I've returned to avid reading this year and lately making it into a daily habit. What first started as a "read 100 books in a year challenge" turns into a read whatever resonates most and more helpful at this exact moment at the required pace and even reread the most useful books or chapters to juice the value out of it. As my physical reality around, mood, health and worldview changes for the better as I keep reading new stuff I know that I'm going to stick to it without chasing a certain number and just enjoying the process and life.
awesome content Jin, really enjoyed this one! Subscribed :)
Dude your actually like so fucking good at making these kinds of vids. You will most definitely be one of the biggest channels within A year. So glad I found this channel đȘ
thanks so much man, means a lot to me!
Glad it worked for you, it gave me depression.
Thanks
You just unlocked something I'm sure... lol
This was a great video. Great detail, clear and I feel a lot more confident in my carves now
Great to hear!
so did you join some other company/hospital?
that "I could have done it if I tried" hit so hard - brought back so much trauma - made me question my life - for Idek how may times atp I've said it to myself
Biggest problem with gifted kids is were told weâre better than everyone else but raised no different. Most of us never get the coaching and challenges we need which is why so many are stunted with narcissism. Used to being a big fish in a small pond.
im 18 and just finished my last school exam, through all my education in school (and even in kindergarten) i was told that im very smart, much more clever than kids of my age i started feel that now im not even inbetween "nerds" and "dumbs", im much dumber than i was like 2-3 years ago. i stopped learning in school like after 8th grade because i actually knew that all even before, so i kinda did nothing for several years and that made me degradate... i kinda afraid of what could i became after 1-2 years of doing nothing, so im planning to actually study and the most important thing is to *learn* how to study. hope no one got a stroke after reading this
I always did my stance the opposite - i drive goofy - and i had the front foot kinda in the middle and the back foot with toes a bit overboard... I can't relearn it :(
I can understand your struggle but even though you began to read again to only brag people about it, still it initiated your reading habit and further realization helped you to clear the meaning of reading for you. Sometimes you need fake it till you make it :) Love your content <3
cheers! :)
I was always a "smart kid", but never wen thorugh any kind of testing. I got a WAIS test in my late 20s on advice from my therapist. The test results did say that I am "gifted". But, in a weird way I actually found the result to be reliefing. Because according to the test you are considered gifted if your scores are in the top 2%. If you think about it 2% is a LOT of people. I used to put so much pressure on myself, because I was smart and that meant I was supposed to achieve great things. But when you put numbers to it, you don't see 2% of people being super succesful or making discoveries that change the world. Being gifted is not that rare and not that special. You have no obligation to do anything special because of it.
I think many gifted kids brains are premature in some areas, but in the course of time when they become adults everyone's brain is kinda in the same "state" (mature), that's a reasonable explanation why they're only smarter when they're kids compared with other kids. But that's just my opinion, of course.
38, but yeah.
Im a 16 year old with 3000 hobbies. and am "gifted" as well btw
Hey I'm still a gifted kid. Put any 5th grade test in front of me and I'll ace it đ
Good one Jin. You almost had me. Then I realized I was watching a video and that you actually managed to talk about it to everyone :)
glad you liked it! :)
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Iâm a âgifted kidâ but my mom always made me study, and try, no matter if I could recite the material back to her flawlessly without a second glance at the material. Now in college Iâm doing just as good, because Ik how to put in the effort. Thank you mammaaa
CRASH IS ABOUT TO MAKE YOU HIS BITCH
This video actually taught me there are actually two camps: the gifted kids that actually believe in their gifts, versus the camp of gifted kids that continue to believe they aren't good enough, which is the reason they are gifted. Their 'gift' is more like an innate inadequacy function that keeps them from ever feeling enough, which also limits them. This video doesn't work for those people.
Being an ungifted kid wrecked my 20s. my 30s is where i fix my life and get something instead of nothing Lets start with getting my first job.
I expected more than "just stop thinking you're gifted". Especially since most likely gifted people experience being gifted at least once a week. I can't convince myself (and I don't think it would be healthy anyway) that the sky is green, when every time I look up it's blue.
Good habits beat smarts every day of the week, yes indeed.
Idk this feeling I'm not gifted.
for this kind of stuff they always show someone talking to themselves in the mirror, but what do you actually do? what does this advice actually look like in reality?
great vid, well editted

Love your videos man Your ig isnt available, any other way to contact you?

damn! felt like this video was made for me, it's what I needed to hear. thanks man!
cheers mate!
I spent my 20s in a major depressive spiral, and dug my way out through work. In many ways I'm still digging my way out, and I'm trying to undo the things I did in that place, and there's many mistakes I never wish to kake again. I'm spending my 30s living down my past and building my future.
good short video!
Iâve been told that Iâm way too hard on myself, like saying I could have tried more, Iâm trying to understand what it means for me, because I donât really believe in talent being a huge thing, and I donât feel like I was better than anyone else or a usual âtalented kidâ, bc Iâve usually always denied praise even when I was a kid.
yeah turns out i had adhd all along ;)
Same here, I had undiagnosed ADHD until last year and I'm already out of my teens, ADHD meds will feel like a miracle pill at first but don't let it make you think that it alone is the missing piece to your puzzle, keep striving and pushing yourself towards your goals because even medicated ADHD is still ADHD-like.
@@birchpc thankyou i hope i survive :>
Great video! Great message and completely relatable
"Give yourself permission to fail" is a powerful line. My ego has prevented me from addressing the fantasy I've had about myself from youth. It served as a defence mechanism to shield me from reality. I always assumed that things would just work out eventually in adulthood, esspecially since I made animation movies at 7 and was a trained fixed-wing pilot by 17. I was even offered a contract with United, but turned it down because I wouldn't commit to anything. Now, I'm a minimum wage worker trying to get myself back on track with a far more realistic view of myself and my place in the world. I train mma, which further forces me to address the reality that emerges in physical challenges.
Do NOT compare yourselves to others.
Wow! This video is so cinematic
Underrated video
video should be viral its super well produced gj man keep it up
cheers mate!!
Great visuals
Reading is something that I have to force myself to do for 5 minutes and then all of a sudden I canât stop. Itâs so easy to become chained to the dopamine loop of social media that we quickly forget just how fun reading can be. Great video.
I only read because I'm in desperate need of knowledge. Once you learn how knowledge connects swiftly to better decisions and action, you'll read books like you study the night before your exams.
I never understood the painfully utilitarian approach to reading, which is all about "increasing you productivity" or making you "smarter". People really tend to forget that well written fiction (or any piece of art for that matter) can be the most transformative experience. But noooo its all just made up fairy tales and a waste of time when you could be working. Sure, that's how you get a life without meaning and are a cog in the machine instead of human being
fiction certainly deserves more credit!
I was one of them. Everyone was seeing a huge potential on me. Now I totally lost, have a serious anxiety and cannot stop daydreaming about what could I be. Wanna break the circle.
