The true Zappa heir. Should have complete control as. He’s the only Zappa who performs his fathers work as Frank would have wanted. Not just for $$$$$
yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They cant all be musical geniuses … get a grip
I think the whole family does a pretty good job taking care of the legacy. There’s a new live tape album they are releasing soon! It’s up on Apple Music already with only one song available yet. They release at least one big thing every year. I think they all are great, but dweezil has had a tough time with his family PLAYING his fathers stuff.
Well Zappa told his wife to sell off everything so they'd be taken care of since he wouldn't be there to do so.
@@gbstrangelove2025 publicly? Otherwise I would be doubtful.
Thank you Dweezil for keeping your father's Legacy alive and introducing a whole new generation to his music!
He gives them a chance to be introduced but how many want to be?
@@rvdnagel1963 man, I'm 19 years old, I primarily listen to metal and punk music but I started getting into frank zappa's music recently and it's just on another level. Out of all the guitar players I listen to, even the shredders and stuff, zappa tops them all. His music is just so abnormal and amazing. So I guess I'm one of the few of my generation that loves frank zappa😂
@@rvdnagel1963 enough for it to be worth it
@@rvdnagel1963 Not enough, because our younger generation is made up of some of the most ignorant people, Imaginable.
@@analogaudiorules1724alright, how about a nap, granddad?
Dweezil has always seemed like the best combination of nice, cool and badass player. Am I wrong? Thank god for the bonus lick -- the only one I have a chance of mastering.
No, that's what he's like. He doesn't have the laser-sharp wit or ultra confidence that Frank had, but he inherited everything else. Bastard.
you are not wrong. He is actually a monster player
@deepthroat2 Who are you to judge? Dogshit.
@@sabbracadabra8367I mean.. I'm sure Frank and Dweezil would agree that on a biological level he's right haha. That said, they have individual styles and tendencies, and it's incredible to have such a great band keeping Frank's music alive.
@deepthroat2 Without that famous porn movie...
What a blessing on the world of music it is to have Dweezil put all that effort into learning his dad's style of playing. I never got a chance to see Frank live but his boy puts on a fantastic show!!
I saw him twice. Rsssssspt. Me 1 you 0. 😜
1:12 I love it. "Not quite the octave" YES please more of this. Such a humble man who is sharing so much of his father's genius through his lens. Thank You
Just say Major 7th!!!!!!! But I like how he teaches, not too technical
@@rdubb77 "not quite the octave" is the kind of intuitive thinking that is relatable and easy to understand for me, even if I know it's the major 7th
“You gotta put the eyebrows on it”
I still use that phrase most days when working with artists in the studio
Dweezil is hands down one of the best guitar players alive. an excellent teacher as well.
Dweezil looks more and more like a friendly Joaquin Phoenix.
~ I'm thinking Mel Gibson.
Bradley Cooper
Lol
I wouldn't be surprised if his dad spawned the likes of Aaron Rodgers.
SO TRUE! Hilarious! 😂
I, with my daughter and a few friends, took one of his master classes from him the day of his show (which I went to). He's a great teacher; extremely patient. It wasn't long, but he had some really cool ideas to share to open up our own playing. In the meet and greet after, he was really kind. His father has been creeping up the top 100 greatest guitarists list. I think Dweezil belongs on that list. I've seen him live 4 times and he just blows me away.
~ Frank was the most innovative modern musician ever (my opinion), but Dweezil has the most amazing chops I have seen; he holds his own against anybody.
We are so Lucky to have Dweezil Zappa in our Lives! Rock On Dweezil!!!!
Dweezil is so amazing. So chill, incredibly knowledgeable, and a killer player and teacher.
Dweezil deserves respect.
Dweezil is awesome! All Zappa fans love your hard work and dedication👍
I’m so glad this guy is keeping his dad’s music alive. FZ is such a huge part of my musical journey in life, and his music has enriched it beyond reasonable expectations.
Frank has always been my favorite guitar player , I played for a long time but not like frank did , I could never master his techniques , or figure them out , I don't play anymore and I wish I had this kind of instruction long ago , so thank you DW for sharing this , and keep it coming , if I ever pick up my guitar again I will concentrate solely on frank Zappa techniques ! And thank you for keeping franks music out there !
Wonderful. Thank you. You're an awesome talent. I'm glad that you're keeping your Dad's music alive. The world needs more Zappa.
Finally a portal to Franks breathtaking guitar work and who better to do it than Dweezil... This is wonderful.
Awesome of Mr. DZ to be sharing these precious nuggets of 6-string chemistry.
Thank you SW and Dweezil - just as soon as I saw the notification for this, I dropped everything! DZ, a legend in his own right. Cheers!
SV
Thank you, Dweezil! Always been a fan of yours and your dad!
Wow..... imagine.... all the years listening and loving Frank's unique chords, thank you Dweezil ! I will enjoy practicing these... especially the chords from Zoot Allures 😃
Dweezil is extremely talented just like Frank 👍🏻 a pleasure on the hammer and anvil I must say.
hi dweezil just want to say that your father was the reason i wanted to learn the guitar when i was young....at the age of sixty i still play, txs for sharing
I’m a drummer & FZ fan for 40 yrs and got completely absorbed in this - I never dug into the mechanics of Frank’s guitar techniques before - and great to see Dweezil taking it to another level here as a great teacher & player - mind blown - that was sweet, Sweetwater (and Dweezil)
This might be the coolest thing I've ever seen on CZcams!
Thanks a lot Dweezil. Yesterday, 25 years ago, your father left this crazy world! I always have to thank him for the Music he gave us, and I always have to thank you to keep his Music alive! (I like also your Music!) I'm Joe Blackbread... and I'm the Sicilian of the Group! ;o)
Big thumbs up on this video 👍
Thank you so much dweezil for helping the poorly gifted such as myself to try and play a littlebit of the Maestro's music.
Thanks for posting. Best of life to you and yours!
Sweet licks, I treasure this lesson... dweezil Zappa ,what a cool dude...🤘
This is unbelievably amazingly available to the public
Love this man, his dad was a genious and amazing human being and Dweezil is carrying the torch with honour , continuing the Zappa legacy. What I love about this video most, is he playing through a combo amp? Is playing like one of those smaller version Marshalls? No way baby, Dweezil playing straight into his JCM Marshall stack! Love it.
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing some of your father's awesome techniques.
yep enjoyed that thanks Dweezil
Youre Dad was a genius !!! Thanks for sharing ! Congratulations .
Imagine being Frank Zappa’s son, following in his father’s footsteps. No pressure! 😂 Kudos to him for carrying Frank’s legacy into the 21st century for a whole new generation.
Awesome lesson from an awesome person & guitarist.
Amazing!!!! I love this! What a guy taking the time to pass this knowledge on!
Saw him two times in Zappa plays Zappa, with Vai first and then the next lineup ....excellent !
Beautiful.
Frank was a big influence on my thinking as a player. I was fortunate enough to meet him. Keep on playing bro. Thank you!
Thank you Dweezil!!
Thank you, Dweezil.
I love that first chord. I play it a lot on my 12 string acoustic. Discovered it myself.
Great to see this today ! Son of Frank teaching the real way to play it ! Saw Frank twice the first time he closed down the Armadillo in Austin Tx and another year later or so at Frank Erwin center the best band in the world then today Dweezil has the best band in the world if you can play this music you can play anything....
What year(s) was that ron frey?
bwgti Ron’s out but I’ll guess ‘74? ‘75?
Thanks Greg!
I agree, if you can play this music, you can play anything
your father was unique, no one can convey that feeling, but you learn something from it. i love you, thnxx
You do your papa proud! My favorite has always been the cosmik debris lick :)
Great job Dweezil🙏
totally sick! gratitude!
That third lick tho! 🤟😎🍻🔥🔥🔥
Great!! We want more stuff like that!!
Oh hell yeah ! ! we do.
Coolest thing I’ve seen in about a year.
Wild stuff, tnx DZ!
WOW,and great googly moogly!
Killer lesson from an incredible guitar 🎸 player. Daddy Frank would definitely be very proud indeed!
Like father like son. GREAT!
Absolutely cool
Excellent guitar playing
This is great!!!
more dweezil ..please more!!!
thanks dweezil, Zoot is such a joy to play
Geeez !!! And I thought I was improving because I just learned the intro to SMOKE ON THE WATER !!
Just saw him tonite....Dweezil killed...what an incredible band...I don't know how they do it....total instanity...quirky, fun, soulful, beautiful, technical,...it's quite a soup...if any zappa fans are missing his 2018 tour, you are missing out....I never saw frank back in the day,...but it felt like something very special...engaging, hypnotizing, ass kicking,...what else do you want?...it was the best no money I've ever spent..(I got a comp) 5 stars...all the stars...
Awesome Dweezil!
That is one badass SG.
@Dusko Males
Cheers, wondered what it was.
I thought it might have been one of those early Les Pauls that Les was not happy with and eventually became the Special Guitar or SG
Please hire this wizard
That guitar sounds incredible
Dweezil rocks!
Awesome!
great 🎸🙋🤘👍🎸
great....thank you
I met you great Dad in Moscow in the Stalker apartment who was a good friend of mine. The main actor from the Tarkovsky movie called Stalker. He didn't know Frank's music while I knew each note by heart. Alexander Kaidanovsky became his fan also and got a proposal to shoot a documentary on Zappa.with me onboard. To say I was happy is nothing - I was flying! But ((( Both great guys left us a way too early. Thanks a lot for your lessons, bro
Absolutely bad ass! Seen ZpZ in 09 and to this day is the most amazing show and group of musicians I've been lucky enough to see. Dweezil, keep killin it-and please come back to Omaha Ne!!!!!! Rob Belk
Insane. Genius
Dude keep playing your awesome!!!
I’m shopping your music now to still like your father’s music, but you Kick Ass to
I love Zoot Allures. When that album came out, I felt it was made for me. I really connected with that one.
NICE!!!!! TNX
Great tone.
excellent
amazing !!
Loved him in duckman
One of my favorite albums is zoot allures. Frank was an incredible musician
I would like to know how to play the song that goes like "Reent-toont-teent-toont-teent-toont-teenooneenoonee". I would play it again 'n' again 'n' again
'cause it sounds so good to me.
All we did was bend the string like......
Hi-ho, SILVER!!!
I hear Joe's mom's Garage is the best place to learn it. You'll loooooove it
It's E, A, B
a couple of quarts of beer..
Music is the Best!
Great sound
It is so nice to have Dweezil around. We’re living in The Space Age
Dweezil is the man.
Bless you Dweezil, Diolch!
Dweezil is a great guy
First chord sounds like Etude VI, used in Diary of a Madman. Frank was a genius!
A Natural !!!
frank zappa é o cara da musica verdadeira
Thank Jeebus above for Dweeeeeezil
And for the " Zoot" walk thru
#cranksomefrank
Cool beans.
Frank had some really cool bending habits. one of the riffs on apostrophe has that really cool bend like the one dweezil shows on the uncle remus lick
That guitars sustain is great
Frank LIVES!
Thanks Dweezil. I’ll have to track more of these down somewhere. Pleeeeez do more of these! I beg you. Your dads technique is incredibly unique to me. What do you get when you give a talented drummer a guitar? - Shut up and Play Yer Guitar. I’ve replicated the tone these past few weeks using an FM3. So I’m crazy enjoying getting those melodies under my fingers. But the technique is throwing a bit of a wrench into a lot of the muscle memory. Its like sneaking some kind of Mongolian dance move into a Tango.
Dweezil really loved his dad and his music and is a great and talented dude. He and Moonunit who absolutely adored her dad got screwed out of their inheritance by their mom Franks money going to their two other untalented siblings. To make matters worse Dweezil was not even allowed to play his dads music in concert and his other two untalented siblings sued him over him playing it anyway. Dweezil is so talented and a wonderful son to Frank carrying on his music as no one else can. We miss you Frank but we still have your loving son.
Now I finally see how to play the opening of "Zoot Allures." What I thought it was back in the '80's had my hand stretched out like a pretzel.
