How to get rid of your video games junks and doubles that don't sell well is to make a mystery box LOL.
There wasn't a lot of garbage stuff here. It was mostly niche titles but those always have an audience. I honestly would have loved this box.
It's the same where you try to sell a lot of games, put a rare/desirable game in there and fill it with junk. It's how I have several copies of Caesars casino on SNES. Mystery boxes just give all random so you don't know what value you're getting.
Most games were pretty bad... But I saw couple gems. I would have maybe bought 2 or 3 games out of that mystery box.
Rick, I know there are a lot of gaming guitars out there. That white Xplorer guitar you saw is worth picking up, it can be worth upwards of $70-$80.
I thought the same thing. That's the only one that does sell lol
I agree they also getting pretty hard to find.
Very glad I found mine at a garage sale for $10. Very desirable especially for clone hero on pc because it already has a USB plug in.
If you don’t mind can you please timestamp it so I know exactly what you’re talking about
@@imaginarygiant145 9:27 he grabs the guitar to talk about something that was under/behind it.
Siccooper sells “mystery boxes” at his store. You should get one from him.
He does it on his website too
I love siccooper
Yep, Cooper is the man 🤘🏻
Siccooper Channel is awesome 👏
Copper is a good watch but his prices are outrageous at times
Rick would have been happier if there were 200 copies of Mario Duck Hunt in there :)
200 x 5 bucks a piece = $1000
Here’s Boomer is an early 80’s tv show about a dog named Boomer that goes adventures helping people. The dog would hide in strange places to help. My mom saw the show and the dog hiding, and as a baby I would hide so she has called me Boomer ever since. I actually own that lunchbox! Great memories thanks Rick!!
The original boomer
Buying a mystery box for $1000 then just auctioning it off to make your money back just seems like a weird cycle for free content.
He said it himself, there was nothing in it that he would want to keep. It was 90% modern games. The seller should have made a more balanced box.
That’s his whole channel. Lies and clickbait. He been sold out
If it was full of retro games he’d likely keep most of it. Unless he had doubles.
@@mntngr346 Obviously no one is putting retro games in a blind box though, They're such easy sellers and blind boxes are known for being stock that doesn't sell. He threw in some decently valuable or just fun games though like Yakuza.
@@megami215 I'm starting to agree here. I used to really enjoy this channel, but all it is these days is just recorded footage of rummaging through the local flea market/collectibles store, and then a paid advertisement. This is quickly becoming a "skip" in my viewing rotation.
The blue lion was a piece of Voltron. Voltron was the Power Rangers over a decade or so before the Power Rangers were ever thought of in America.
Disappointing that you had bunch of modern stuff for the RETRO collector. Could be just a mistake. A retro mystery box would be interesting to open up! Hope for more like that in the future.
I agree...hopefully next time we can get retro stuff only!
The blue lion you found was from Voltron
Dude just gave you a bunch of walmart clearance. Weren't they like 3 cents piece or something like that? I remember watching Phoenix Resales video on it
Was thinking the same thing, pretty sure I saw Phoenix resale but most of those at Walmart for dirt cheap but I trust Ricks tallying and it must be worth the $1000 to resell
@@croooks1052 not worth the time to list and all the ebay fees. He got dooped.
@@Mistergorehound Fair point but pretty sure he wouldn't have purchased a $1000 mystery box if it wasn't solely for Content. Us average Joe's would have felt ripped off for sure lol
I wish you would have done a segment on the puzzles and Paperback Books. I know it's not really Retro related but I love finding books and puzzles at great prices.
I think the blue lion is from a new version of Voltron
I probably wouldn't deal with that seller again. He didnt take into account what you're into and dumped off a lot of random junk and niche titles on you.
I live in Greensboro and Lost Ark is the dopest Retro Gaming Store out here !!! Cool to see
I'm from Eden I'm definitely gonna have to check that place out!
Xcom2 has to be my favourite strategy game in all of eternity.
The blue lion is Voltron. If I had a dollar for every time Voltron is mistaken for Power Rangers...
thanks for the heads up!
lol this was a trip of a video
"Give me whatever!"
Looks of disappointment while opening everything, seeing that he literally did give whatever.
Then the back and forth of "Cool new collection stuff" to "Imma just sell it to you guys"
Wild trip lol
My brother and sister-in-law got me a Retro Rick sweatshirt for Christmas! It is comfy and looks awesome! I love it.
Watching him move that $100+ Xplorer out the way just to talk about that board game pained me so much...theyre so rare now!
The guitar hero controller? Surely not that much, unless it's mint in box. That thing looks broken.
That blue mech is a Voltron get it for your boss!
Hey just wanted to point out that you should consider emptying those surge and duff cans. My can of New Coke developed a pin hole and leaked all over the place. Luckily it didn't damage anything, but my laptop was right under the shelf. Can't wait to see the finished room! I have the same idea - rotating out stuff every so often.
I second this. I had collectible Pepsi cans and they all eventually leaked and made a mess everywhere
You should keep that Capcom Belt Action collection, great collection of beat’em ups from the 80s and 90s and the box is big because it comes with posters of the original covers for the games
the Furby looks high in its crushed box 🤣
Omg im so jealous of that Capcom belt collection! I love Beat em ups so much!
this man owes you $1k back..
As a retro game/toy collector (small) I like my self setup as is, because it shows what i picked up and when time wise,my only setup guide is time,of course i change things around in time a bit,but my favourites will always stays in the glory and the rest still on the stage. My motto is if you out of space, than go up plus DIY than sideways.
Let’s be honest Rick you weren’t to happy about this, the guy seemed nice but didn’t get the memo on what you were looking for still good content tho
No green super soaker? Cross fire? Power rangers sound effect gloves and dagger? Loved those growing up. Still never forgave my mom for selling all my favorite childhood toys at a garage sale. 🤬
Yakuza and Belt Action are good.
That's seasons idea is pretty cool 👌 but yea E.T.'s always been here ✨👽✨
"Aha" 🤣🤸
I want this cyberpunk controller. Cool Video i like These random Boxes and your fleamarket hunts
Yakuza 3-6 are all fantastic games. Go into the Sega Arcade in the games and go play a whole bunch of Sega arcade classics. Good times.
Retro you should definitely play the Yakuza series… fantastic … don’t sleep on those. I think they are in your wheelhouse.
I played all yakuzas from Ps2, Ps3 to ps4 love them, also I wish sega makes a comeback with a new console as I'm a huge sega fan
Not sure if you'll ever see this comment Rick but that Furby, that's the exact color Furby I got back in the day! I think I still have it somewhere. It was cool going through that box of games and nostalgic items too!
Man I remember chewing on that orange hair on that troll when I was under ten years old lol🤣🤣
You moved an $80 guitar hero controller off of the board game and then put it back. I’d check to see if they have it priced well!
I remember watching boomer n italy early 80's for sure.
Great video content as usual my friend , enjoy your Christmas holiday a lot if comics here lol
I got those Zelda Joycons at Target on clearance for $40. (picked up 3, 1 for me 2 for my nieces) People selling them online for over $100 though.
"Into the Dead 2, I can say that one." Lol.
1000 bucks to make 150 not good in my opinion. you put out a grand thats alot of money for a bulk buy there should of been more meat on that bone
I picked up an old tin Berenstain Bears lunch box the other day for $7!! It’s awesome but no thermos
I'm from Arkansas as well and I am a huge retro fan as well. Where is a great place to find retro Star Wars toys around Little Rock.
You got to watch the Adventures of Young Indiana Jones. It is cool to see his early history around WW1.
Lost Ark Video games is a nice game shop and arcade! We e been hunting out there before. Nice staff.
I love how you edit in the old commercial. It's like breadcrumbs to my childhood.
I would have shit had I got that mystery box. It was tailored to me! Castle shikigami iii, and Game tengoku sealed paradise box! Not to mention loads of other cool Niche things! You got my box Rick!
Pretty much same here, 95% is stuff I spend all my money on
Exactly. Box was amazing. And there is a reason anime and retro video games with anime aesthetics are high value. Look at Jrpgs.
Ahhhh man the explorer guitar hero guitar! Great fast flips! Awesome video as always though!
One of the guys from lost ark are from my home town winterville NC. I used to go to lost ark every weekend when I lived in Greensboro. It's a awesome store. You should check it out 1 day retro
I go to Unversity and have been to Lost Ark! I love it!
Looks like the mystery box was just a bunch of stuff the guy couldnt sell so just offed it all in one shot least cost wise you got what you paid for but a bunch of junk 20$ modern games just seems like hes using you to sell what he couldnt cause theres no nolstalga value or collection value in that box
The best game in that box was the YAKUZA
I recommend you keep all the Nintendo Switch games. A lot of good stuff.
I saw the slim chicken's cup in the game room... I approve :-)
A delicious episode Rick. There were some super obscure games in that box. I dare say that some of them aren’t available here in the UK
Thank you my friend! Hope you had a Merry Christmas!
@@retrorick It was nice thanks Rick. I hope you and your family had a great one too
The guy who made the mystery box does not know you at all 😂 mystery shit box
Ripped off
Ditch the posters above the crt. Add more shelves or put an oled up there.
glad to see you prospering buddy. Renebean checking in..
That particular young Indiana jones vhs came with the original trilogy of Indiana jones movies
It always makes my day when you find mighty morphin power rangers toys for your son #90skid #1stgenpowerrangers #formyson!!!
caladrius blaze is great. one of the coolest shmups.
I'm afraid 40 minutes will not be enough unless if you rush through your collection. You can easily fill 2 hours with al the great goodies you have in your room.
Some of the comments are so toxic and delusional wtf. If Retro gaming pisses you off just watch something else. I see this all the time Retro Rick doesn't deserve you're unwarranted hate.
ha thanks for the support my friend! Have never understood why people watch content they dont like...just move on!
Retro Rick you need a second camera to get 2 angles of these unboxings!
I just recently got my first Xbox one S ever, very happy with it so far
I can hear randy Newman as he packs up his toy story shelf
I can do without the shilling for whatnot.
If you like arcade shooters then you should definitely try out castle of shikigami iii
awesome video just went to lost ark to pick ups some good deals the other day , super cool retro store 🏬 and they had “rule of rose “ 😧😵💫
Love the pacing in this video. I personally was pretty disappointed in the mystery box. But with mystery boxes you're paying for the experience of opening it.
Hey retro- I don't know about the US but certainly in the UK there's a lot of value in film novelizations. I'd look into it if I were you. Maybe a new untapped revenue stream (I buy and sell rare books on the side btw 😁)
Great Video! Keep up the good work and Positive Attitude!
thank you my friend!
Would love to hear the high pitched, "It's for me"!!!....lol.
That belt action big box collectors edition is pretty sweet. I have the standard game that I got from Playasia as the physical release only came out in Asia and we only got a digital release. Great video.
it’s funny that the flea market as music sheets on whole shelf act like a table cloth 😂
Happy New Year 🎊🎆🎈 🎉🍾💥💥💥Excited about game room reorganization 2022 is going to rock!!!✌️🙏
Set up or not, I'll be guessing this is the last 'blind' buy mystery box video i watch on here.. Hopefully.
How about creating a virtual room tour video. Then you use the same shelf for multiple items. Yes understand that it would take a lot of effort and time to record but would be a great way to display all you have without the need for all to be on display constantly.
You should make a mystery box!
I don't know/recognize any of the games in the $1,000 mystery box. I grew up in the Era of Mario, Sonic, Spyro, Donkey Kong and Crash Bandicoot.
Those are really good modern anime games in there, Sakuna is a great game!
Cool video Brother Thanks for sharing 😀 👍 ♥️ 🇺🇸🇨🇦🇬🇧🌎🎉🎉👏👏🎉🎉🎉💯💯 Happy new year
My favorite game you had in there was the Geoffrey plushie... 😬😬😬🤷♀️🤣😂🤣
Tides of Numenera is an excelant Baldurs Gate style of Western RPG
Castle of Shikigami 3 is very nice!
You got all b to s tier games
Little disappointed you didn't recognize Voltron Blue lion....
look creepy at 9:00 that "black head-like head object" behind those pillows or blanket
Mystic out here in the retro world
Mystic has done mystery box stuff
Sad to see Rick doesn't know about Mystic's video game mystery box series....
Your stuffs on display looks very clean, how did you manage to keep them in such dust free condition? I have similar shelfs with displays of childhood stuffs I like to see, but always hard to keep them clean.
Look closer. Most of the stuff I see is filthy. Def needs a cleaning before being displayed.
Dust is your dead skin
Have you ever read Jaws, it turns into a bit of a pornographic novel at one point LOL. I thought it was all about a shark 😂
Since it seems Mr. Rick could use the pointers:
Guide to pronouncing Japanese:
First, know your vowel sounds. A=ah, I=ee, U=oo, E=eh, O=oh.
Second, Japanese characters consist of vowels, vowel/consonant combinations, and the letter N. You can use that knowledge to break words down.
Let's use Castle of Shikigami as an example. Break the word up at the vowels: Shi-ki-ga-mi. Then use the vowel guide for each chunk: shee-kee-gah-mee. And that's the word! There's some special variations here & there, but that'll get you most words pronounced correctly (if with an American accent.) Have fun!
@Retro Rick- I definitely think its time for you to invest in a ps4 and/or switch. A lot of the games he sent you in the mystery box weren't random-- they're modern games designed in pure nostalgic glory. I have over 600 ps4 games, and would be happy to go over what you should get, avoid, and gems!
Whoa your editing is almost as good as Riffs!
Was a good idea for sure, sorry the box was kinda a bummer 🥺
Cool idea to do a mystery box but that’s was the dullest video I have ever seen of yours sadly - was hoping for a cool retro gaming haul for you on that mystery box but just a load of modern trash - feel sorry for you buddy, hope you at least manage to scrape your money back on that lot but I think you might struggle
But that’s just my view as a vintage collector, I’m sure many other people would love that haul - just not sure it fits your channel
Blue Tiger was Voltron
"For my wife" made me laugh out loud 🤣
Thats a voltron lion good sir
That's what I was thinking too
