I was hoping to see the 'porcupine' train again, worked here on construction scheme that was taking place a few years back. To say this place is intriguing would be an understatement. I did get opportunity to have a little nosey (curiosity and the cat), looking around the area i was working in, just round the corner i found some old rusty bogey lines deep into what i can only describe as a concrete bunker that ran level into the side of the terrain, i followed it down (as you do), at the end of the line was a knackered looking minecart like something out of Donkey Kong, it was parked up next to an opening in the concrete, the cover for the opening resembled a very large steel letterbox with rivet cladded edges and a hydraulic shaft that controlled opening and closing of the hinged steel 'letterbox lid'. I imagine this is where the spent rods were posted through. I didnt stay there too long as a)' i was being naughty' b) my bollocks could have been frying.. and you know as luck would have it i never did have any kids heh

Does this mean we won't see nuclear flask trains any more? To me they represent something done really well - I'll be sad if they're gone. Cold I suggest a video on forms of transport used in the British nuclear power industry over the years?

As a reprocessing plant? Yes, the end of Magnox reprocessing will be the end of all reprocessing at Sellafield as THORP was already shut down in 2018. However, this doesn’t mean that Sellafield will be shut down as an industrial site, since it will continue to serve as an intermediate storage facility for the spent fuel coming from the UK’s fleet of operating nuclear reactors and there’s also a lot of decommissioning work that still needs to be done at Sellafield.
