  • 📣 Learn more about our 21-Day Yoga Challenge - www.yogachallenge.in/syt 🧘🏼‍♀️ We learned about this concept in the renowned book about chakras ‘Kundalini Tantra by Shri Swami Satyananda Saraswati.
He says -“Ajna chakra is located in the brain directly behind the eyebrow centre. That is why it has always been an Indian custom to place tilaka, chandan, sindur or kumkum on the mid-eyebrow center. When it is applied to the eyebrow center a constant pressure is exerted on this area. It is a means by which you can maintain constant conscious and unconscious awareness of ajna chakra.” 👁️
In earlier times sindoor or kumkum was made using pure turmeric, lime and minute quantity of mercury. Another mention in Ayurvedic texts is of Rasa-sindur which was made using mercury and sulphur through an elaborate method which yielded the final powder beneficial and non-toxic.

Disclaimer - Please note, we’re only sharing what our scriptures have said regarding the use of tilak and are not recommending the use of sindoor or tilak.
