- FODDER solutions barley grass is organically grown and harvested at the time when the blades contain the peak spectrum of nutrients.
Barley grass is considered the most nutritional of the green grasses containing an abundance of nutrients unsurpassed by any other type of grass. The benefits of fresh green feed such as barley grass have been well documented over the past 50 years. Typical rations of barley grass vary from 50% to 75% of the total ration (by weight) which varies from 2.5% to 5% of the body weight of a specific animal.

Barley sprouts quickly, forms a easy to handle mat or 'biscuit' as we call it and has a high nutrient profile. It only takes 6 days. Harder seeds like wheat take longer and so requires pre-soaking or a bigger system. Pretty much anything can be sprouted. Many people add extras such as sunflower seeds, lupins, soy-beans for extra protein, corn for extra energy. Recently we've seen good results with sheep using faba beans. I'll ask about the sorghum and get back to you.

It's great feed for any grass eating animal.
So can this be the only feed you give to dairy cows. Which grains do you think would be the best for dairy cows?
Ok, but how many biscuits/kgs would I have to give to my Horse a day? I normally give her hay (as much as she wants) and ration (4.5kg) - how much of the green fodder would I have to give her?
What about giving this to my horses, what % of the total ration could this represent?

How much would you feed to a Jersey cow? If you give 1 kg of grain per 3 litres of milk, how many " biscuits" would that be?

I really dont see how you would need this high tech system. For sure a big intensive farm would benifit massively however for a rural lower intensity setting a simple greenhouse with tables, trays and an irrigation timer would get the job done just as well.

Why animals dont eat hydroponic fodder directly? Do we need to mix any flavouring such as Salt or Jagrey ? Please let me know what can be do pls suggest
It seems they just grow off the seed and are fed off before nutrients are really needed. Would make this much more affordable.
anyone with experience "Finishing" beef on fodder? Is it still considered "Grass-fed"? what other rations would have to be supplemented? ...trying to stay natural and Grass fed.

How does one go about getting barley seed for sprouting in my northeastren Louisiana area I can not find any stores that carry it! So a fodder system would need seeds, but even wheat here is slightly difficult to find at this time of the year. price on 50# 13.00 for wheat but my feed stores all have to "work on getting it" I also tried to contact some grainerys in the area but so far no luck. Do you have any representatives in this area who might know where someone interested in a small one of your units could even get barley?
Go to your local county agricultural agent (look in the phone book or where your county fair is held), they can tell you farmers in your area who grow grains and then you need to call them and find one who will sell it retail (many won't). Or you can drive to the country and look for farms with large storage silos. Stop in and talk with them, most farmers are nice people and enjoy BSing. You'll usually pay MUCH less than at the feed store.

steven goodman i just got the 220 model. You can just call and speak with curt who makes them. He runs a big feed store in grass valley California. Maybe he’s tested it but if you want to test mine maybe we can do that as well.

It seems like maybe 2 weeks. It seems they havest it right as the seed body is finished being turned into grass. Whatever thats called.
