Great video, thank you! I bought a kit that included a steel idler to replace the plastic one. When I removed the engine mount I found it already had a steel one. My car is a 67 plate registered in dec 2017 and I've owned it from 3k miles and 9mnth old so this was it's first cambelt change at 62k miles. I'm guessing Vauxhall have eventually realised that they have a problem. The most wear was on the tensioner but it wasn't yet at a catastrophic state. Following your video it was a straightforward job.

Do you know if the Water pump can be changed without taking the timing belt off and all the gobins?

Yes water pump can be changed without removing timing belt. But you will need to remove engine mount and timing belt cover.

i noticed you didn't use any locking tools, do you not need them for B20 engines?

I've done a few of these and with experience you can do it without locking tools. If you've never done one before, I would advise to use locking kit.

@@PaulsTechChannel what about the water pump? Do you reckon I can skip its replacement on the first belt change?
Opel quoted me 1800€ (belt, pulleys, screws and water pump) to do the job, they charged 450€ for the water pump alone 😱
There seem to be 2 models out there for the pump, with and without temperature sensor, I don’t know which one fits this engine. Thank you for your help

Water pump are located on front of engine and are driven by AUX belt, and can be replaced at a later date, without removing timing belt.@@dhlry

When the service manual says changing timing belt every 150,000 km, is it safe to assume that the pulleys will be changed also? I hope the workshops know that it should be belt + pulleys change and not belt alone.

This Insignia had dome only 68,811 miles (110,740 km). I would advised to fit new timing belt with new pulleys, well before 150,000 km !
