the former students who spoke out DID like wille's speech! that's exactly what they're doing: breaking the tradition of keeping quiet about the abusive things that happen at that school under the guise of initiations. as much as it sucks for the current students to not have their phones and for simon and wille to not have time to hang out, it's a much bigger issue and to me it's great that wille's speech inspired this positive change
Yes, exactly, and (if I'm correctly informed...) that is exactly what happened in real life too, some older ex-student told the press what had actually happened at the posh boarding school... and it was closed down. And... something similar happened at the boarding school a Danish prince (one of them, don't know who...) attended too, just the other year...
Interesting point of view and one we previously did not consider.
The current students were not happy 😔
Let's see how this plays out. We have a feeling some will not play by the rules. 🙈

Sara left the expensive riding pants the girls bought for her on her bed. Not her uniform.
This is a great start to S3. The emotions are high. Wille and Simon are a couple but now in plain view for the world. This adds a different level of publicity to their relationship that Simon didn’t understand would exist. He is now under scrutiny that he hasn’t had before. Felice realizing her real friend was Sara. Sara was never caught up in material things. It was always the friendship. And the most beautiful loving relationship of all, brother and sister has deteriorated to silence. All of them on the opposite of where they were. Even the Queen, so controlled now a total mess.
It gets intense gentlemen. It gets intense. 😉
So many things happened in the first episode, but we are glad it's a seamless continuation from the last episode from season 2.
We hope Simon and Sara can come together again, and Sara and Felice as well 🥹

You're absolutely right! Before, Simon couldn't possibly be in a secret relationship with Wille, but now that Wille is out and proud, Simon is thinking that it being a secret wasn't such a bad option.
I feel bad for Sara. She got caught up in a bad situation, and now she's paying for her actions.
At first, I thought it odd for the Queen to be crumbling at this point and not last season, but the thing we've got to remember is that, while to us, it's been three seasons and multiple years, but in the show, it's still the same school year. It's maybe been four or five months since Erik died. The Queen hasn't dealt with her emotions, putting the country above her needs, and now that's all boiling over.
That's right, it's only been 4 to 5 months since Erik's death, in the story Wille started going to Hillerska in October, Erik died in November, Wille's speech was at the very beginning of March and now it's April.
Did you forget the last episode of the last season?? Simon literally said that he agreed to be in secret, but there better be no secret between them! Wilhelm on the other hand just decided to come out with his speech without talking to Simon about it first. Come on now
Let's see how Sara gets her brother and her friend back. She did sell them both out, but mistakes happen.

I mean, SImon's issue wasn't exactly with being a secret as in "he wanted the public to know about them". He was always really clear about hating the lies, when Wilhelm said he'd come clean about the video (something HE wanted, not pushed by Simon) and then didn't. The "I don't want to be anyone's secret" was tied to how "being a secret" was a decision forced on Wilhelm by the Royal Court.
The thing I don't believe peple seem to get about Simon is that when it comes to their relationship, Simon doesn't really get to choose most of the time, only react to the choices Wilhelm makes behind his back. He didn't really have a choice over being exposed with Wille (neither of them did), but when Wilhelm was manipulated by Kristina into denying it was him, Simon gets a whole lot of harassment and exposure over that and then, reacts. He considers it a break of trust, and thus breaks up with him. And then, in season 2, when Simon realizes he loves Wilhelm enough to abide by the rules of the Crown and accepts being a secret, Wilhelm goes behind his back AGAIN and does the speech, leading him to the spotlight AGAIN, this time in full force cause it was actually confirmed. By Wihelm. In a public speech he hadn't even planned. And THEN he gets screwed over again by SARA, OF ALL PEOPLE, who went behind his back and ruined the kind of negotiated peace they had set up between them and August.
At the end of the day Simon is a normal kid with no fame or anything, who has no framework to process the situation and no support when it comes to the media given from the Court, nor protection. Wilhelm's way of coping with the attention he gets is by bottling everything up, too (not his fault either). I don't think it's a "careful what you wish for" thing because SImon never pushed Wilhelm to do anything, it's more like "damn, if things were planned and communicated and Wilhelm had more support and was a little bit less impulsive things definitey wouldn't have gotten to this point" lol

First we were thinking that Simon should have anticipated the media interest if he openly wants to date the crown prince (realistically it would have come out sooner or later). But you are right, because even though Wille had the best intentions and wanted to express his love for Simon with the speech, he didn’t really give Simon any choice and now he’s got no control over how it came out.
@@user-bl7dv3xe6t right? A thing that annoys me a lot about YR discourse is how people seem to toss Simon's problems aside in favor of him being with Wilhelm because Wilhelm needs him. Like, shut up and take it, 16 year old boy, and do not dare of questioning anything or HOW DARE YOU HAVE BOUNDARIES because the rich 16 year old boy matters most. I love them both and I think they both go through really heavy things but it's so weird to see people act like Simon breaking up with Wilhelm an act of individualism and selfishness because now Wilhelm is sad (like Simon isn't...?). They both go through hard and tough situations, but the fandom at large only seems to think Wilhelm's issues with the crown count.

The uniform hanging at the door at the end of the last season was Felice's, it had been washed and ironed for her for the big day

I’ve been hearing from others that “being grounded” means different things in different countries. I think in Sweden, it just means not being able go places. Friends are still allowed over to the house.
Ok good to know. For us “grounded” means not being able to leave the house, but also friends are not allowed over.

You are back!! Hope your families are OK!! This season came full force and as some other ppl have said, an open mind is a good one this season, character arcs are at play this season as well as ever, a rollercoaster of emotions indeed.
As for the initiations, they are coming out now cause former students DO/ DID get inspired by Wille’s speech which is why they are now able to tell their truth on what happened to them. ( keep an eye out for this plot device this season) 😉.

I mean when it comes to homophobia in Sweden I'd say I have barely experienced it but also I lived around majority white middle class in Stockholm during my teenage years and now I live in a student town so that kind of speaks for itself. My ex gf lived in an area with lower economic status and majority immigrant area and she met extremely homophobic people basically her classmates talked about drowning their future children if they came out as gay because they were from very religious backgrounds, even her teacher refused to teach sex ED because of how religious she was. Different areas of Sweden look very different when it comes to views on human rights, even in cities or places that are very close like me and my ex both lived in Stockholm, I just lived closer to the center.

We certainly don’t think that Sweden as a whole is a homophobic country, not at all. It’s just in the episode they mention that Simon has been receiving messages and that someone set a pride flag on fire. Being out publicly, in the media, can definitely make you a huge target even if there’s not many homophobic people. As you said it really depends which city or area you’re in. Same goes for most other countries, e.g. in Germany some cities are more open-minded and accepting than others.

I feel like Simon should get some sort of coaching from the royal court. Wille wasn`t always the crown prince, but he was born into this family and has grown up with certain rules and precautions. Simon has no clue, what to expect and how to behave when it comes to the press, comments and his appearance on social media.
agree. that would've helped. however, would simon really have been receptive to it? maybe in the short run, long run, not so much.

Interesting question, they all have quite distinct styles, but we can see similarities between the members of the royal family, like Erick, Wille, and August, though Wille is the most colourful out of the 3.

I think, over all, Sweden is not a homophobic country. But if there is one person close to them, which is very homophobic, that person is now a thread. So even if there are just very few homophobic people in Sweden, it's still a big thread for couples that are so publicly known. Normal people can just live normally. Even if 5% are homophobic, they maybe don't even recognize a gay couple. But for public person like Wille, that everyone knows and where the press reports about that, it's a huge thread, even if just one of 100.000 people is homophobic.
Also opinions differs in areas which makes it make sense that Neo Nazis burned the pride flag in a lower economical status neighborhood in the show. Basically like Sweden is overall progressive it doesn't mean no hate crime or problems ever happen here, it is just less frequent/ more rare. I def have places I don't go holding another girls hand at wrong time of day, they are few but they exist. 💀
That's how we see it, and it might have come across the other way in our reaction.
We don't think Sweden is a homophobic country, but it looks like a group of homophobes took it upon them to scare/threaten Simon.
Sadly, those groups exist everywhere 😔

tbh, simon has been a constant rollercoaster for me since the start. there are times when i've empathized w/him and there are too many times when i've just wanted to stick my hand through the screen, shake him, and say, "what the hell is wrong w/you?"
one of my main issues w/simon is that he doesn't take accountability for his actions. this drug situation has been a problem since the beginning, constantly looming over him. it was frustrating to see him tell sara that this was all her fault. we know sara has done her share of things, but it wasn't all her fault. plus, it was crazy to have his mom and attorney go into that meeting and them not knowing simon's part in this whole situation. did simon really think that the drug topic wasn't going to come out? linda had absolutely every right to say what she said to him. there she was taking up for her son, supporting him, and she doesn't even know the whole truth of what he's been doing under her own roof. throughout this series, simon had no issues calling everyone out, wille, sara, august, but didn't take his own advice. selling his dad's medication was a choice. he didn't have to do that, but he did. i'm sure i could go further into simon's history w/lack of accountability but it would be a very long post.
also, thank you guys for mentioning simon being uncomfortable now that wille and their relationship was out in the open. it's like that be careful of what you wish for b/c it may just happen, just not the way you want.

Simon definitely needed to take accountability for selling his dad’s alcohol and drugs. And there were other moments when it would have been nice for him to put himself in Wille’s shoes to see his pov.
He should have thought about or at least be aware of the fact, that if he’s openly dating the crown prince, that the public will be interested and he’ll be in the spotlight. Hopefully his uneasiness will not become a bigger issue later on
