Kobe never was that person which is why the Lakers gave him so much money especially on his last contract where he was just injury ridden but they kept him the highest paid NBA player because of his body of work he put into the game and for the franchise. You don’t get that by being average. You have to do the extra work.

@@alexedsell8138Shaq was the best player in his prime because he was gifted physically in a way that made him literally unstoppable. His game in terms of skills had nothing special compared to other bigs of his generation or generations prior, he was just playing bullyball most of the time. Which is why as soon as he exited his prime he fell off very quick. On the other hand superstars like Kobe and Bron who spent the most of their time working on their game (working out, being in the lab, studying the game etc) kept dominating the league even in their latest years because they didn’t rely on their gift, instead they abused it by combining it with skill and iq. Hell Kobe casually put up 60 on his last game like it was an everyday thing to do for a dude on his 20th season. But it only is because he never stopped working.

Just like in weightlifting, there’s a certain point where you are no longer helping the muscle and just lengthening the amount of time to recover. He needed to relax a little more, he needed to bond and build trust with his teammates a little more too. Encourage & motivate instead of just intimidate. Still wouldn’t have had to go out clubs and party to do that either. It would’ve helped his performance, stats and most likely another ring or two. @@invincible0463 agreed, but for anyone who actually watched Kobe and Mike know just how great of playmakers they were. They both sacrificed a ton of their games for the betterment of the team. Both could score every point if they wanted. Just take over the whole game, but both are winners and did everything they could to achieve team success. In my mind they are the two very best players to ever do it. Guys like Magic Bird Hakeem and Kareem all a very close second.

He'd pass when they were heavily guarded then demanded them to shoot the shot anyway. He ruined team chemistry and even had certain players not even able to join another team. His teammates looked like they had fun when he sat on the bench but looked bitter when he got back on the court.
