When you know you are playing against someone as competitive as Kobe or Lebron, it will push you to be competitive as well. These guys were motivated playing against each other because it motivates you to play your A-game.

Head to head: Bron was literally light work to Kobe. When literally guarding each other on iso plays, kobe scored 20 points ppg while lebron scored 7 points ppg …. Also, when guarding each other, Kobe scores those 20 on a fg% of 54% while lebron had a fg% of 27% when kobe was on him…so on Offense or on defense ..Kobe completely dominated lebron. Pure skill. Arguably the only player of the modern era that could legitimately compete with Kobe in terms of not worshipping him and not being dominated by Kobe. People don't realize that Bron himself had a strong personality. Kobe had a fierce personality but to be honest by about 2009 most people had accepted that Bron was the better player. Kobe I feel peaked in 2008 but Bron peaked in 2016. The 2 never really met at their peaks.
Kobes peak is 2006 and Lebrons is 2013. But those years are among their primes.
As a LeBron fan i admit Kobe was cooking my guy one on one even on defense but after the game LeBron team got the win most times as their teams faced off.

I know this is a Kobe and Lebron vid. I enjoy both players. No one ever got me like MJ did though. MJ in his prime was really something to watch. Not only the skill, but the determination, fire, compassion…. And yes, facial expressions MJ had along with skill on all sides of the game, MJ in his prime probably was the best to ever do it.
AGREED.Lots of hand-checking in MJ's era,plus MJ was constantly getting hammered driving to the rim.The Pistons just threw and pounded MJ to the ground-REPEATEDLY. LOL. Hard fouls were the norm when MJ entered the nba,plus dunking on fellow players was a sign of disrespect in MJ's earilier days in the league and they'd retaliate against you most times.

In my opinion, the best thing that ever happened to LeBron outside of genetics was the 2008 Olympics with Kobe. I think that LeBron’s trajectory before that was to finish as a top 10-15 player who had potential to push Mike but later on down he would regress and and the conversation never got close. But LeBron being competitive saw Kobe, who was leagues, miles ahead of everyone in workouts and practice, knew what he had to do. He’d have to work harder, care about his body more, and put in the work 24/7. I believe he willingly played second fiddle in those Olympics but worked hard enough to be able to be called the guy, and I think he took this into the rest of his career. It’s a testament to his mental toughness that he is still so motivated, no one doubts his work ethic on and off the court. And in my opinion he’s number 1 or number 2 all time. But I am not sure he would have been that way if it wasn’t staring him in the face that Kobe worked out and practiced harder than anyone else. Kobe was always going to be MJ lite, but LeBron is a different beast and as the oldest player in the league with the stats he has, the conversation is there and it exists. So thank you Kobe for a legacy that lives on in more ways than what’s immediately apparent.

By the time Lebron played with Kobe in the Olympics, he had already been to a finals, and won a shooting title.
There was actually not much separating Kobe and Lebron at this point, considering most of the former’s success came through Shaq and Phil.
They had some good match ups but they always came at the wrong time wish we could have seen a Kobe vs lebron finals
