fine , the INTJ mental age is not elderly , my large ego can afford that hit .
But did you really have to put the ESFP above us ?
I didn't lost my respect for you because you are the greatest MBTI comedy channel but it seems a bit unfair .
I get that you wanted to illustrate why ESFP's are misunderstood , and i agree but i don't think this is the way to fix it .
it's true that INTJ's think they know everything but it's because we are considering things very deeply and sacrifice our sensory tasks for the purpose of understanding things and gaining experience . you know very well that ESFP's are way more carefree and irresponsible (relatively to INTJ , but in general it's not allwase clear )

I don't think INFP's respond to others in ways others (who are not INFP's) consider normal. You're right, we're in our own category.

As an INFP, I was pleasantly surprised and honored to be given that much consideration and having a category just for my type.
Like yes, I do act like a child, but I feel much older on the inside. It's just that, I don't think anyone would believe me if I say I'm mature unless I act like it, and it's just hard. I was half expecting to be put in baby section but I'm so glad that someone actually acknowledged our (atleast mine) true mental age.

As an INTP, I kinda feel like we appear like we age backward. We’re very mature for our age when we’re younger and then eventually there’s a crossover and we’re still perpetual children even as adults.

Exactly, the curiosity and social awkwardness doesn't really go away. We seem as well behaved mature kids for naturally good grades and not getting in trouble much. But the secret is that deep down we are perpetually immature, only showing that wacky side of us to selected few. When we grow up and academia success is not the most important marker for maturity anymore, we lag behind. We're not the ones to dive into relationships and families as everything must be thought and overthought to highest details. Making (at least semi) permanent decisions like partnership and housing the bane of us, because what if, what if, what if. May even translate into jobs "what if something better is around the corner, I don't want to be stuck here". Our indecisive need of always keeping one foot out can be bane of our commitment, which is usually maturity marker later on. Unless the stars align and we're fully passionate and engulfed in our commitments. I wish the life worth obsessing over to all my fellow INTPs 😆.

as another intp i think i kind a disagree, we're always mid in everything, i have entj and intj as my siblings and their mental age was older when they were at my age, of course we get things done eventually by not even trying to, whether if its about understanding others intentions and living our own path, but we're always in the middle of "should i leave everything' and ' i need attention' zone, we're really like young adults that has both sides

As an INFP I can confirm.. I have been told, that I am an old soul living in a wrong century AND I have been told that im immature and I have to grow up. I was genuinely expecting Frank to divide INFPs into ancient and baby. Life would be easier for us it we could actually take some kind of benefit from both sides of maturity, it is more likely used against us. We are either too "boring" and not wanting to join in on other people´s fun activities, or acting childish and super silly and doing random goofy things, which makes people uncomfortable, why are we so silly when your not 10 anymore, and why are we so bored and uninterested, when we are not 70. It is sure a journey.

Oh shoot. The relatability of this post made me laugh so hard. God, I just hate being like this. And I have been like this for ages, since birth maybe. Somehow I can't change it. I don't want to at times. But like what the hell! It's really disadvantageous. Doesn't it make INFPs less attractive in conventional terms? I feel that all the time. I hate it. Its sometimes like being bipolar. And you know what! you are not actually getting on the side of anyone by being like this but still you still innately remain like this. Not joining in when you could have benefitted from it because hey, it's too much and then doing really random stuff that no one can make a head or tail of.( I like doing the random stuff to be honest). Nowadays, it's like the whole world is having a party. And you want to have fun but there's a zip going on prompting you not go and to feel left out like an observer, never a participant. I am sorry for ranting like this. It might not come off as much coherent. I just wanted to share.

My best friend is a very stereotypical INFP. She has a lot of childlike interests and often acts like a 13 year old (she's actually 19), but when someone hurts her feelings, her morals or her interests, she becomes the most mature and wisest person in the room. She's childish on the outside, maybe to cope with her problems, but is internally extremely mature.

As someone who is about as INFP as possible, this could not have been more accurate. I recently had to write a memoir of my adolescence for an education class focusing on the adolescent, and I basically came to the conclusion that I feel like I have simultaneously been an adult since I was 5, and yet am still very much a sensitive child in my 20s, and I am not entirely if I ever had an adolescence, or if I am just going to be perpetually stuck in adolescence because I feel like I am both an adult and a child at the same time.

Then I did the same test again and selected the least likely options for my least accurate mental age. And got 19. 😆 Analyzing the questions and my answers the results provided, I basically answered so completely opposite ends of the spectrum between 1-40 that the test got confused and threw me in the middle somewhere, and then I did the opposite, which still was so divided that I was thrown in the middle anyway. My actual age at the time was 17.

Before watching the video, I was pondering how old I feel as an INFP with a chronological age of 25. On one hand, I feel like a child; I can get extremely happy or upset about little things, and I believe I still haven't grown up. On the other hand, I'm more mature than my peers, as if I've reached the end of my life; I keep contemplating the ultimate purpose of life. In short, I found myself torn between two extremes. After watching the video, I couldn't believe it; my eyes welled up with tears. I'm astonished by how well you understand this - you explained the INFP personality perfectly. Thank you. ❤🎉

Amazing way to view INFP. I was ok being in my own category, but an ancient baby sounds nice too. I guess it’s because we shape our personality to match with the person we’re talking to, so it’s hard to see where we belong in terms of “mental age”. I think what you said about us seeming like we’ve “seen everything” is nice too.

As an INFP, it's funny that with the basic common sense pertaining the practical aspect of life, I'm such a beginner navigating my way through it; but in the meantime, I also have the comprehension of "life" in a much larger sense since a young age. I remember in college, a friend told me that "you have a youthful spirit but also an old soul". I always like to compare life as a game, and I would say that, I have a pretty good understanding of the concept of the game, but pretty slow at actually playing the game. I'm very comfortable just staying out of everything and just observing human.

So he had not much interest in me. Until I randomly started crying while talking to him with a smile on my face. He said it was creepy but now he was curious. No one just starts crying while talking with a smile plasterd.
I ended up opening up to him about how basically traumtizing my life was at an early age & that I force myself to wake up everyday by living in a constant state of delusion. If I am constantly in a fanasty world I never have to be sad, but when I remember why I am forcing this upon myself I get sad & my mask breaks temporarily.
He developed a crush on me after realizing I wasn't some dumb blonde with no substance. But instead I had a lot of depth to me & actually incredibly intelligent for my age.
He liked that everyday he always learned something new about me. Even now I still surprise him with new things.
I can keep him intellectually simulated plus make him actually emotional when he's normally an unemotional person
I changed his perspective on something when he was sure he was right. Both stubborn ngl- I can compromise a lot more though

Even since I was a little child, I didn't act like one. I kinda never "fit my age", I always befriended those, who were younger or older than me. I was too mature and too childish to my classmates at the same time. It's a bit upsetting, but I could switch between kid and adult/elder in a second and because of that I could learn from them a lot of things. It's kinda win-win for me but I needed to grow up to accept this xd
I think our emotional intelligence, wild imagination, empathy and sensitivity help us to "live more than once", and help us to deal with people expericenced by life. At the same time this child-like curiosity, idealism, innocence and avoiding conflicts make us look immature.

As an ENFP, I think you miss the “external” constant intake lighting fast neural connections firing. We are not “middle school”. We can see connections that so many miss. As a historian, being ENFP allows me to find those connections of culture, languages - basically the human condition and how as humans we are connected to other living beings and to the atoms of the very universe we are in. Yes - I am wise enough to know that the generations coming after me in my courses are going to take it further and hopefully make the future sustainable. They keep me informed and in touch with my liberal “we’re all in this together” mindset. We are goofy and most ENFP’s are MENSA range IQ’s. I don’t want to “get the glory” for solving or figuring out a problem. I lean on finding solutions that make everyone’s life better. I/we don’t need the spot light, but our ability to process external information lightning fast lead to real solutions. We are in it for a win-win for everyone. We are the ones out protesting and sitting up all night debating everything from string theory to how Homo sapiens are neuron-wired to repeat patterns of thought/behavior globally to individually. That’s NOT middle school. Read some of the brain scanning done on ENFP’s and how when shown information, all five areas of the brain involved in processing and analyzing light up.

People seem to think that ENFPs are goofing around and they don't take things "seriously", simply because they (we) see the bigger picture (through all the haze) and realize that most of that "serious" stuff is actually utter nonsense that doesn't even deserve to be taken seriously (and deserves to be mocked / ridiculed instead).
I've always felt like an observer (not an active participant) in this life because I understand the basic truths about (human) existence, while most of the other people are like squirrels in a wheel (running around blindly for no meaningful reason whatsoever) 🤷

While I do not work in an occupation anywhere near as intellectually complex as what you shared, my INTJ husband and I work in a very involved field requiring a ton of problem solving.
One of my favorite ways about how my Ne and his Ni operate together is when he will state a current obstacle in our shared career, ask me if we should solve it with X or Y, and then I will suggest Z, A, B, C and D. He then extrapolates all the details that would be involved with seeing each option through to completion, and we both land on the best solution together.
Our problem solving skills as a team shocks everyone around us, but these two functions simply work very well together.
I also agree we are not middle school aged mentally. However, I do have a very childlike heart and love to be goofy and have fun. Kiddos love hanging around me and even my husband... he has a goofy side, too. It simply doesn't come out as often.
Also, my absolute favorite type of activity is brainstorming. When I was a child, teachers would mention we were going to brainstorm for a certain topic, and my hand would shoot up into the air before they could finish their sentence. I would already have five or six ideas brimming beneath the surface and selected the best ones to share first... because usually my teachers would tell me I needed to give someone else a chance to answer, too. They were correct... other students needed to be involved in the learning process, but in my young mind, I just couldn't understand why every amazing idea of my own wouldn't spark even more creative ideas in theirs. So, I wanted to share so they could be inspired, too.
My brain works crazy fast when it comes to ideas. It takes me a hundred times longer to explain all the ideas than it does for my brain to generate them. 😂

INFP here and you got it exactly right! In some life seasons I feel like a little kid. I am the fun aunt that jumps on the trampoline with my niece and nephews and plays all the games with them. I love looking at Christmas lights and I get so excited by stupid little silly things. But at the same time, when life is really hard I feel ancient. I feel like I've gone through so much in my life and I feel things so deeply that it's utterly exhausting and I feel as though I am much older than I am.
You did the only thing you could do by putting us in both categories. This is what it's like to be an INFP. We are a living paradox.

I am honestly surprised by the categorization of my personality type (INFP). The "being ancient (or old?) and childish at the same time" bit is so accurate. There is one time that I attented a funeral and I approached someone who is still emotional and I asked the typical asking assurance questions i.e. "Are you alright?" related-type of questions. Then we started a conversation contemplating the "whys of life" and the "uncertainties" of human existence and "death". Then out of nowhere, I said within the lines of: "Death is an act of deliverance into the being that we were once meant to be. We may never get to see them through our eyes, feel them with our hands, and such but their footprint that they left within this land will always remain within the confines of our minds and hearts". And they were shocked asking how do I know these stuff and I just replied: Idk tbh... eh idk now lol

Yeah we can grasp and comprehend the idea of how we came to understand these things but these sort of things are abstract and dont like logic, reason, and order, hence why its hard to explain, i think the trick to understanding things is understanding that logic and reason cant fully explain abstract ideas, so you need to let go of thinking that it has to make sense, or proceed linearly, life is not linear, plus logic and reason will never be able to explain where creation itself came from, but it exists so there has to be a why to the existance of existance, or the reality that things exist, cause there cant be a cause to cause an effect without something causing the cause, that caused the effect.

P.S. INTJs are old souls from childhood. In some ways, we’re burdened with purpose because intuitively we understand consequence, which drives our need to plan a better way. I’d put us in the ancient category because building for the sake of building, a young adult’s reasoning, is not our motivator. It’s to save the world from what we know can happen BECAUSE WE KNOW WE’RE RIGHT!!! (A bit grandiose, aren’t we?!!)

As an ENFP who is now in his late 60s, I have noticed that I am more balanced and have become a lot more balanced in my outlook and actions. Life has beaten the crap, er, smoothed off the rough edges, er, taught me that there is no one way to be. I started off life as an old soul due to tragedy and abuse, got out of the situation, became the child I never got to be, got smooshed by life because of it, became more introverted but no less reflective, and still like people. I suspect that this happens a lot to people as they age no matter their Myers-Briggs personality. I enjoy being alone but when I am around people I like, which is almost everyone, they can't get me to shut up. Hence, my comments on YouBoob for people who don't really care. 😁

The way you ranked these made me think about the shifting of my personality over the years, and it kinda makes sense! Between 2013 and 2023 I have taken the test 4 times and got 4 different results. I was ENFP in college..which makes sense..a few years later and I’m INFP. This is when I started to mature into adulthood. Things were getting more serious, and I yearned for simpler and more carefree times, while at the same time I’m starting to be more independent. I had been through a lot in my life (abusive relationships and struggling with my mental health and such) even up until that point, and wasn’t done. Around 2018 or 2019 I took the test again and got INFJ. At that point, among other things, I had already lost one of my parents. I was still in my 20s. It changed my entire perspective of everything, and life in general and my relationships. I did get pretty withdrawn for a period of time, fighting my own demons. A few months ago, I just turned 34, and took the test again. I’m ENFJ, and I legitimately almost died twice in the last 2 years (taken by ambulance for lengthy stays in the hospital, involving surgeries and blood transfusions). This year alone has been a wild ride. I still yearn for a simpler time, before I knew of any loss. I realize the importance of reaching out and cherishing time with your loved ones, and I try to do it more. I am less withdrawn, my circle is smaller than when I was younger, but I have a closer relationship with the people who have stuck around long term, and I am now working in peer support to help other people overcome their own struggles. I want to get out more and live life to the fullest, and try to help other people too, to the best of my ability. I realize I’m no hero, though. But I do my best, and I believe in doing your best and being the best, most authentic version of yourself. No matter who you are, you deserve to be loved for you. ❤

As an INTJ, I have never identified with teenagers with the exception of being ready and willing to critically think through others' plans (i.e. criticize). As a child, teenager, and young adult, I've been more ready to identify with seniors (my grandparents, church members) than most groups, but I have also been far more adept at technology than them. It makes more sense for INTJs to be placed at middle-aged or at a crotchety old soul who is ready and willing to tell people how things should be.

I feel like I have that lifetime of wisdom and experience to know better than to do what they are. Yet at the same time I still have that hope/idealism that lets me see the world for what it should/could be and strive to work towards that kind of life for myself and those around me. Your placement for us couldn't be any more fitting, Wise beyond our years, but "held back" (depending on your perspective) by a childlike Idealism. @@unionunicorn6776well personally I would still say that being naive is a bad thing. Choosing to live life in denial or clinging to a fantasy is unhealthy both for the naive individual and those around them. But a lot of people confuse idealism for naivety when the two are completely different. Idealism is seeing the difference between what is and what could be and choosing to work hard so that reality can edge closer to the ideal, where as In My personal experience naivety often means seeing the world through a lens of idealism and insisting that it is reality. Those who are naive are unable to see that difference. Choosing instead to believe that they have already achieved the ideal and need not try any further.

I think INFP being kind of on the outskirts makes sense. I have taken a couple cognitive functions test and I’ve been getting INFP and ENFP as my type pretty much neck and neck . With INFJ usually being a possible option in third place. I don’t know enough to know if I lead with extraverted intuition or introverted feeling
I’ve always gotten along with younger people or older people, but people my age I’m just awkward How do I talk to you… you’re aliens I don’t get it. It was hard for a long time.
So the feeling of being trapped between being an old soul and a kid at heart… it can make it hard for people to take me seriously. Especially since I look a lot younger age. Work has gotten easier because I built my confidence but I know when I was in college dating really hard.
An awkward., old soul who looks 16 trying to flirt… you can imagine how well that turned out!

Several things I learned while watching this:
    1. Editor Kevin is my favorite human being (this is subject to change). I have laughed really hard at the wild, blink-or-you'll-miss-it jokes he threw in there while watching this. He has infinitely made this channel so much better.
    2. Interesting that Frank tied the ENFP and ENTJ with each other. IMHO, ENFPs do tend to be more emotionally mature than ENTJs but ENTJs are pretty analytical and more go-getter than ENFPs. For example, ENTJs tend to be the bossy ones in the group, but ENFPs do tend to not listen and do their own thing since ENTJs do tend to overreact to certain things. ENTJs over time will respect ENFP's boundaries and sense of wonder and will let them do things the way they do them.
    3. Funny how Frank ranks INFJs pretty high on this scale (no bias at all lol), but I would argue that INTJs belong up there with the INFJs. INFJs have a very emotional core which they hide very well. INTJs may know how to temper their emotions better, but they might have a hard time addressing how they feel. Though INFJs are more open, INTJs are hardened. I'm on the fence whether INFJs are older than INTJs, but I think INTJs do have a wisdom beyond their years which should not be disregarded.
    4. Glad Frank redeemed himself after unnecessarily bashing the INFPs in the last ranking video. However, I think more thought should be given in regard to the youthfulness of the INFP. They do appear to be paradoxical since they have a youthful sense of wonder, but also a taste for the ancient and finer things in life. I would put them lower than the INTJs for that, but still pretty high.
This is the rant of an ENFP who obviously is pretty biased. I do not know many Sensors so I cannot speak as to their ranking. Take what I say with a grain of salt!

Thank you, FJ! While I felt validated enough when you put us off the chart with your green drink, my head exploded with warm, fuzzy kittens when you cut us in two and placed us on both ends of the continuum/infinity loop! Looking forward to your wotw.

Wow, I’m an INFP and you’re so right that we’re both really young and really old at the same time. That basically sums me up. For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt like I’m really a little old lady trapped in a younger body. At the same time, I admittedly have a naive and childlike view of the world sometimes.

INFP-always last to be thought about. lol.
Or is this a strategy to increase watch time because we're polite and will watch the whole thing instead of skipping ahead?

As an INTJ I can confirm that our age is a young adoult. I've noticed that I and other INTJ have that hope within them, but not a childish hope, a romantic hope, belive that we can make word better, love for future and ambition. Basically every positive aspect of young adoult mindset. We can see hope where other adoults give up.
