  • Aw, what a nice pilot...there totally won't be a sad episode and the finale won't be soul crushing

    Don’t be sorry! By making this video you’re already taking a huge step that many people don’t normally dare to do. Don’t care to much about the mistakes, instead learn from them if anything, so keep up the good work!
    I enjoy the topic you chose, how comedic shows have some really serious episodes despite what they initially introduces, especially since I haven’t seen any videos where someone had a real discussion about it. The only tip I would give is to be more clear with the topic you’re presenting, In the Teen Titans part you mention that they have comedic episodes, but you don’t really compare the comedic episodes as deeply as you do with the serious one. I think this would help you your argument stand out more. Also, this would let other viewers who doesn’t know the show your talking about, but are interested in your content understand your theory better. Still, I understand why you didn’t do this since you mentioned more then one show and making a video takes time.
    Still, I hope this helps and you did a great job!

      I have a tendency to sometimes not be clear, but I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you enjoy the next big project I have planned. It’s so Bruce

    I think the reason why this happens is because the show writers always intended for their show to have a deeper, more dramatic story. But it's a lot easier to sell a pitch that looks more like a 'saturday morning cartoon' vibe, where the format is funny adventures that return to the status quo, because these types of show can go on forever and make money.
    So a lot of cartoon pilots present their shows to look like this because they're more likely to be accepted. Then when it actually goes into production, they can tell the story they originally intended, usually after they've proven concept through season 1 and have been approved for a season 2. Great video btw! I really enjoyed it, keep it up.

    I will say that Teen Titans, Avatar, and Gravity Falls aren't technically animated comedies (well... okay, for most of its duration Gravity Falls totally is) but they are very adventure focused. Everything you said was pretty much true though. Cartoons do often have very silly and lighthearted pilot episodes, probably to ease the audience into it (and as others have mentioned, to make it easier to get the show green-lighted by the producers).

    I liked the video and I thought it was really cool you felt confident enough to talk about real life at the end. It’s encouraging. Also, I love that you have the confidence to talk about God, I need to be more like that.

    I've recorded a couple of long mainly-talking videos on another channel and people do not appreciate how difficult it is if you can't read more than a sentence off of a script without stuttering or messing it up in some way. I can definitely appreciate it must've driven you insane like it does for me!

    Avatar was never comedy first. It was often pretty funny, but it was a serial adventure drama first, action second, comedy third. Teen Titans was action-comedy from the start, so while some episodes were much sillier and others much more serious even the serious episodes were full of gags. So neither of them having "serious episodes" was special, nor their finales being dramatic.
    Adventure Time was more something that started as a whimsical episodic comedy themed on adventure hinting at dark undertones to the world's distant past being modern Earth, then evolving into a more dramatic series as it went on until it was unrecognizable by the time we meet Finn's biological father.

      @AgeOf3ra  Před 5 měsíci

      I should have been more specific. I was tackling shows that had a light and goofy undertone at the start and then talk about the spike they had once they hit that serious episode. But I couldn’t fit all that in the title, so sorry :/
