ELDERLY CLIENT LOST HER BACKYARD TO BLACKBERRIES!! Stihl FS-240 Brush Cutter

  • Around a month ago we had a client reach out to us with a regular request for some blackberry mulching. The unusual part about this job was the size and the area of the blackberries. Due to the owners being unable to maintain the blackberries they spread like rapid fire and pretty soon covered the entire backyard. The blackberries become so overgrown that they covered absolutely anything that was on the ground, including all the materials, rocks, and even other growth.
So we grabbed our Stihl FS-240 brush cutter and went straight to work. With some new Oregon mulching blades, we were able to just power through all of the blackberries in record time and were able to shred the blackberries and free up this homeowner's backyard.

Can you tell me how many of the Oregon blades you went through for the job once they got duller from hitting dirt, etc. ??? Thanks. Obviously, you can sharpen them after, but I have an area of similar length & width/height on Whidbey Island I need to deal with. The main section is along about 250 of vinyl fencing, as the neighbor has let it grow way up & over the fence, back & forth. It started on our side, though, long before we bought the property... Himalayan Blackberries...

Hey Barry, I only used 2 Oregon blades. I could have just used 1, but I noticed a huge difference once the blade got dull. Dirt won’t do much damage too it. You have to watch out for rocks and always be careful to not rush hitting the ground with it. It’s best to do this on a sunny day and start with an area that has more light. That way you can see any objects that can kill the blade.
