Its upgraded form also makes it even more effective for damaging multiple enemies, who don't necessarily have to be in front of you. It costs spirit emblems to use, but the cost is pretty minimal for the whole combo. It's definitely a solid combat art, at least against enemies who aren't hard to stagger.

If I may, you missed an interesting tip for Juzou the Drunkard.
At the back of the boss area there is two shield wielding enemies. It's usually wise to not kill them, simply because if you keep your distance and attract the boss far enough, they won't follow you and do you no arm and can provide an easy resurection if you happened to die to Juzou himself. Just run to a shield man, pop their shield with your axe and land a Deathblow for a guaranteed removal of the smear covering your second resurrection.
If you have Breath of fire : Life, it can even be used to restore your health back on top of that.

The "Floating passage" skill actually really helps with isshin, the sword saint in his sword only stage. His dialougue states that "hesitation kills". If you use this skill in his sword stage to its 5th blade slice he will almost (i think it glitched a couple times) always take a step back from you giving you space and time to get ready for his next move. Since the move shows no hesitation, i tried it and it worked. But i encourage others to try it and see if it works for them.

Another thing floating passage is great for is pairing with the flame vent and living force; if the initial blast doesn’t set an enemy alright, the five hit fire combo almost certainly will, and since almost everything has a 2 second ‘crap I’m on fire!’ animation it can pretty much half an enemies hp if you get them locked down at the right time, and even if the timings off to do that much damage it still stops them in their tracks. Pretty good for only a 3 spirit emblem cost

My most memorable experience i had was in Dark Souls and randomly finding the secret passage in blighttown to the underground beach area (I'm tired and can't think of the name right now). I did this after beating it and thinking I found everything big.

The Floating Passage combat art does have some usages. It can be used to manipulate certain boss AI into playing more passively. I used this on Owl, Genichiro, and O'Rin of the Water. It was particularly helpful with O'Rin, as it forced her into using two moves. One where she jumped back and then did an easy to parry maneuver, and an immediate follow up strike that you could i-frame through.

Not sure if anyone commented this, but the Bell is on Kuro's Belt when you talk to him. I think when Kuro exits the bossfight room, he drops the bell near the grandma, who recognizes it? Or maybe the grandma gave it to Kuro as a way to give him additional "divine protection" (taken from the bell's item description). It seems like Inosuke was also tasked to protect Kuro. During his dialogue in Hirata Estates, he laments that he couldn't really fulfill his duty and that the Hirata line is now over. (not sure if that means Kuro is of Hirata descent either; still piecing together lots of things)

Floating passage is definitely one of the best abilities in the game. Not game breaking like Ichimonji: Double, but plenty useful for many situations.

Floating passage isn't really meant for crowds, it's more meant for burst dmg'ing either posture or health on single targets as most enemies will try to block if they can causing a fairly large jump in their posture bar or decrease in their health bar. This becomes compounded even further if you combo it with sabimaru, as you can chain the combo until sabimaru depletes your spirit emblems meaning some tougher enemies may never even get the chance to attack. For example against Isshin Ashina I was able to burst him down entirely before he could do anything by chaining floating passage with sabimaru.
