On-field decision is the key thing. On-field no try, on-field try, on-field no try. If the ref doesn't know he should say so.
Also if you look for a reason to disallow any try you'll very likely find one.

@jadenphilander8799 If you watch Kelleher in the ruck, he has no idea where the ball is. He's being neck rolled by Le Roux at the time. How then is he kicking the ball back from the ruck? At the same time, a Bok tackler clears out the ruck, and at that moment, the ball is propelled back towards the Irish side. Also, Pearce is standing right on top of the ruck but has to problem with what's happened to the ball and let's play continue. How and why does the TMO then get involved in that ruck.? Absurd decision. Are TMO's going to get involved in every ruck in rugby from now on?
Also, Lowe's foot was clearly on the ground beyond the touchline when he throws the ball back in field. Countless slow mo footage attests to this. Again, ridiculous call resulting in a 14 point swing to the Boks. But, let me guess, you know better, right?

can i also just add ... Ireland also play very much like the All Blacks ... pushing the offside boundary in a very discreet way by actually blocking the other side who are in forward mod ... standing in the position where they are pretending to be part of play by in fact trying to stop the momentum blocking from the advancing team ... no doubt a good skill but refs never manage this or get it under control

Even if Kellehers foot hitting the ball back was illegal and as an Irish fan I see it is, however the whole rule with tackling is if the tackler makes an effort to drop and maliciously intends to injury a player. So there fore kelleher doesn’t intentionally roll the ball back, he is in fact being neck rolled. Therefore no try and penalty Ireland

There were no controversial decisions. You’re grasping at straws, or you have a misunderstanding of fundamental laws. Both of Ireland’s tries were rightfully disallowed: one wasn’t grounded, the other came from an illegal action in the previous ruck.
And before you cite Kolbe’s try, to overturn an on-field decision you need conclusive evidence otherwise. There was none. Learn the laws.

  • @davidwalker2402

Neck rolling was without a doubt the biggest thing referees were coming down on in yesterdays internationals yesterday and many commentators commented on this, so saying sticking the foot in was what they were looking for is not fair. TMO was wrong here he decided to go back to the Ruc and then he looked for a reason to cancel the try not for a reason to check the Ruc. Both the referee and the TMO have questions to answer and they will. But the real problem with rugby is fans will not be privy to what the ref or TMO has to say, so Fans the single most important integral part of professional sport have no outlets for discussion except the pub the kitchen table or social media. Fans know they cannot change the result but are very much entitled to their opinion, I just hope fans understand this is not SA teams fault or SA rugbys fault, this is human error not personal and can only be improved by discussion amongst all including fans and fans should not be denigrated for what they say or think “unless its personal” .
Opinions on sport referees has been around since sport was refereed and thats a good thing and long may it continue.
I’m certain most Irish fans know the cannot change the result as well as tipping their cap to SA who were the best team in the test yesterday and they will have bad days with referees and thats sport. Congrats well done and hopefully next weeks game has as much drama skill and great play from both teams…

I think Ireland can feel a bit hard done by, but then so could we back when they scored in Ireland where they scored after obvious infringements.
That said, the player that was on the ground and kicked the ball was being neck rolled by Willie. So now, in theory, you remove the player doing foul play, in this case, Willie, but then he wouldn't have kicked the ball back to his side?
So in my view, it's not play on, it's a penalty to Ireland for Willie's neck roll?

The infuriating thing about this match and the comments from Forever Soorts is that he is picking the aspects that suit him to justify the decisions that favoured his team -SA in his analysis .
At the breakdown that resulted in the disallowed Lowe try for Ireland it was actually the clear out by SA 21 that resulted in the ball squirting out on the Irish side of the ruck . Pearse the ref was 2 meters from it and looking straight at it and he saw nothing wrong !
Ben Whitehouse should not have nitpicked to find something that overturned a clear try - if the boot was on the other foot how would the Loftus crowd have reacted ?
Why was there no review of the high hit by Synam that resulted in Casey’s concussion ?

Yesterday was infuriating it’s horrible to be on the wrong side of dubious calls. The Lowe try called back was a disgrace Kelaher get it falls to the ground in the ruck The ball squirts out on the TMO said he hooked it back. And Doris definitely got that ball down the bottom of it was on the tryline. I don’t mind losing if it’s fair but that game yesterday we’ll always have the caveat of poor officiating. Which is a shame because it was a very good game between two quality sides. I’m not really one for blaming the ref normally I’d say we should’ve done certain things better and there is an element of that but we can’t ignore how bad the officials were telling the captain to go away. The TMO over involving himself when there was no need if there was something blatant and cynical then yeah sure but it was complete bs I especially the one scored from James Lowe throwing the ball back in when he was out of touch. Th really annoyed me. The officials did everything possible to give that a try Yet denied him a fair try.
