To clarify the Gandhi/Churchill part of my little rant:
As mentioned in the vid most big historical figures are hardly angels, but it's not always the bad they are known for. That's what it was meant to argue, "that only bad actions are remembered".
Maybe it wasn't brought accross as clearly as I intended in the fast pace edit.
(:
IMO these people should be respected for the good they did, but people should neither forget the bad nor allow it to overshadow the rest. Also, more judgement needs to be in the context and standards of the time, even if the standards were clearly wrong.
Was Churchill a great person? No. Did he do some bad things? Yes. Were they overwhelming by the standards of the time? Possibly some, but not all. Do I still respect him for his leadership, dedication etc.? Absolutely - but I don't blind myself with it. IMO Churchill was a net positive, but still deeply flawed even at the time. Then again, who doesn't have flaws?
Hey, just wanna correct a mistake. It's "Gandhi", and not "Ghandi". Trying to type a little too fast there buddy?
I mean the Latino/Hispanic venn diagram is used correctly, it just has redundancy in its listing.
Yeah Ghandi and Churchill were both horrible people but people seem to forget that when remembering them and other historical figures

"What's a unicorn?" - A bisexual or pansexual individual (usually female) who dates both halves of a straight couple, and no one else. (At least one member of the couple is clearly bisexual or pansexual in this case as well, but the couple consists of a man & a woman.) If this happens naturally, that's great, but there are unfortunately a lot of "unicorn hunters" out there; straight couples who're searching for "their" unicorn. The problem with this is that they're usually looking for somebody who'll commit to each of them more than they're willing to commit to the unicorn, as their primary partners always come first, and the unicorn can't have another partner as their primary separately, so the unicorn just gets two secondary partners with no primary. Often, they're looking to treat the unicorn as more of a plaything or a pet than as their own human.
Thanks, I've never heard of that! So if I understand they kinda want to have a poly relationsphip, but not fully commit to it? This is really stange to me, but if it works as a kink.

"Wires: How many wires? Are there red wires? Is the 4th wire yellow? Are there more than 2 green wires? IF the bomb's serial number is even, cut the first wire. If it's odd, check if there are black wires. If there are, cut the black wire. If not, cut the second wire". That sort of thing.

9:38 isn't a biased graphic, it's just that the idiots who made it made it so that the bar is larger when the country has earned more medals overall. I remember that in middle school our geography book was illustrated on each page by maps of different states, and during a lesson, opening the book, I noticed that something was wrong: a demographic map was represented with various areas of different colors, representing the ethnicity of the inhabitants who lived there, with a chart that linked a population to the colors. In it, however, there were many blue areas, scattered in different points of the state, but no ethnicity was associated with the color blue. Throughout the lesson I thought to myself "who the heck lives here?" and it's still a mystery
If you consume to much silver into your body it can cause a condition called Argyria. Which turns your skin blue.

As a demonic cultivator of data myself, I think I love you for passionately explaining what the f*** was so wrong about the awful infographics.
Data can be beautiful and sometimes a graph can really help illustrate trends. Not in these cases, however.
Most of the problems seem to be mislabeling and wrong data format. Some of them would work if they used a better format. Here's the thing with data that nobody seems to get. Percentages and Numbers are very important. If you have a number the percentile is important to figuring out the context and vice versa.
Controversial Example: "Gun Violence" numbers for instance. It's a large looking number, but it has absolutely zero context for any of it. A majority of it are suicides, followed behind by self-defense, accidental discharges, police incidents and the lowest percentage of that is crime. However, _certain people_ have used that large number as a scare tactic to take gun rights away. (All it does is ensure law abiding citizens have no defense in situations with disproportionate odds against the victim. Guns ensure that citizens have measures against those they otherwise can't defend themselves against.)
I understood that reference!
But yes, I agree, data and graphs can be beautiful and informative but these examples are just... no.
@@crowandcherries 😁 I was going to try and find some cute way to shoehorn data into Mo Dao Zu Shi but got stuck. How about "Every data means every data?"
I _think_ the "risk of death by shark" graph (17:30) is just a case of someone accidentally typing .28 instead of just 28. Because .6, 28, 33.2 and 113 seems about proportionally correct.
