- This is the 3rd video in the series where I'm setting up my new Axminster Craft Tablesaw ac216ts/aw216ts. In the 1st video I assembled the cabinet stand & mobile base, in the 2nd video I showed how to assemble the saw & in this video I make all the necessary adjustments in order to get the saw set for making accurate cuts.

Dean has got an interesting channel. I enjoy watching him as well. He did a great job with your intro. That is a nice looking saw, I look forward to seeing some test cuts.l
Yeah I was only messing when I said he could practice on my intro. He's a Top bloke.
Yeah now I just need some materials to cut
Nice one.👍
Thanks mate
I never got a notification for this 😕, watching it now 👍
Thanks mate appreciate it
Great job on the sdet up Dave. I'm gutted mate. I wish I'd seen this video ages back bcos they still had these saws on their website up to a few months back. Maybe even 2 months ago? U got yourself a great deal there. I'm looking at getting the cabinet saw like the lad on Rag & Bone Brown got.. That's a beautiful saw mate.
U took us through everything there which is very much appreciated mate.. U always give a proper excellent review man.. Hope ur doing well too btw mate.
Your timing is impeccable, Sir.
My Craft ac216ts arrives tomorrow! :-)
Having made the mistake of buying a wildly inaccurate and actively dangerous Aldi tablesaw some years ago, I swore that I would never replace it until I could afford to buy a decent one.
The generous discount that Axminster offered in ordered to clear their "Craft" range, so that they could rebrand it as "Workshop" made that possible for me - so as I mentioned before, I am incredibly grateful to you for letting us know about that discount.
Have fun with your new saw! I look forward to seeing the uses that you put it to.
I aim to please😁😁
That's what youtube is all about, letting people know when there's a bargain to be had
Beautiful table saw
Thanks mate
Nice one Dave. Tony
Thanks mate appreciate it
That's a beautiful looking setup, the dust extraction on it looks like it runs rings around my tablesaw, looking forward to your projects you may make on it cheers Dave, great video as always 👍👍👍
Thanks mate appreciate the nice comments. Thanks for watching & commenting
Worth the clearance blade, if you make a zero clearance you could probably do what I’ve done and attach it with magnets - makes life way easier.
Great looking saw though buddy, congrats!
Thanks for the mention, very kind of you, I’m glad you like it! There should be a high quality version on that Google drive link I gave you 😊
Yeah the magnet idea sounds good. You're welcome for the mention. You never know it may get you a few more subs.
@@GrumpysWorkshop4 very kind, thank you
😁 Nice job Dave. Looks like you have that adjusted up a treat 😁. I loved my old Axi (almost identical to yours), it served me well. I would suggest re-checking it all again after you have used it for a while just to see if it has "settled" a bit. Specifically the fence alignment. Nice job by Dean on the intro 😁👍
Yeah I do tend to check tablesaws every so often just to make sure it's set up. Its so quiet compared to the dewalt7491. Felt strange using it with the guard on but I wanna get used to it as it adds to the dust extraction. Fence feels strange too as it's totally different to the dewalt.
Hi Dave, we put my new 216 together yesterday so now have to do the setup. This video is great to follow and I will be doing that tomorrow. One thing I noticed on the bed of the table and the edges of the mitre slot that they are like razors, and quite dangerous I think. They will need to be rubbed down a bit. Just for your information, I asked Axminster if the UJK featherboard fits this saw and it doesn’t but they recommended the Bow Featherpro on their site which I have now ordered.
I'm glad the video is helpful, I havnt even used mine yet as a lot of personal stuff going on. I will definitely check the edges for sharpness thanks for mentioning that. My Banggood mitre guage fits the slots as they are standard 19mm slots. Forgot to reply to your other message asking about mitre guage fitting or not. My apologies for that. I usually try & reply to most messages but as I've said I have a lot of stuff going on in my personal life. Thanks for watching & commenting
👍👍👍
Thanks mate appreciate it
Hi dave good vid on the saw, like you im gobsmacked they didnt put the grub screw on top of the plate rather than the bottom of it sides from that the biggest phaff i have is etting the riving knife when it arrived it was out of line and even after adjusting it its still out a bit i gave up trying on it.
Yeah the way they've done it baffles me. Wouldn't have cost any more to make it adjustable from the top. You've just made me realise I forgot to mention adjustments on the rivin knife. Mine was perfectly in line but the fence was a different story. That was miles out. Shocking really when you think about it, they are asking £729 usually. Would never pay that
@@GrumpysWorkshop4 The only major thing that was wrong with mine was the mitre rails were not a even width axminster first offered a £25 voucher to buy sanding paper ect to sort it out myself one snotty email back to them and they sent out a new table, i have found them good on customer services with a push it wouldnt put me of from buying from them again but like you i got mine on sale, i would not spend 725 on one its not worth it
@@sandman2651 yeah their customer service is excellent. I had some damaged butterfly clips which hold the sub fence in place & they sent replacements without fuss.
I don’t know whether you have used this saw for rebates yet but I have the same saw and I have a problem with the riving knife, because it sits above the top of the saw I am unable to cut a rebate. There is no allowance to drop the riving knife below the top of the blade. The only way seems to be to remove the riving knife when cutting a rebate, this is not a good idea though.
Yeah that's one of the negative points with this saw. I have used my old saw plenty for cutting rebates but with this saw you can't. I'm either going to make a rivin knife but more likely I'm going to buy a second riving knife from axminster & just trim it down so it's level with the blade. Think they are around £20 ish from axminster if I remember correctly. I wouldn't use the saw without the riving knife.
It’s actually just over £30 with delivery but worth getting I think.
Hi Dave, great video, I will be ordering soon. Does the Banggood mitre gauge you reviewed earlier fit the new saw?
Why didn’t they make the adjustment of the red blade throat plate from the top like they do on a router table it would make more sense. It would be simple to do by turning the grub screws round and drill through holes
I agree that would've made way more sense. Also having it quick release would make it much better. Thanks for watching & commenting
@@GrumpysWorkshop4 it might be an idea to make your own inserts especially a zero clearance one then you could make them quick release and save the original in case you ever sell the table saw
@@neilfraser6646 yeah that's definitely worth considering
Great videos on this setup. How do you find the lifting and lowering of the blade? Mine is quite stiff to lift but it lowers very smoothly.
It's really smooth mate. When I first assembled the saw & tried to raise the blade I thought there was a problem but I forgot to undo the centre knob. Didn't read the instructions properly 😉😉
Check the tape before purchasing. The tape on mine. The inches were divided in tenths of an inch and I made a few mistakes before I noticed it.
Do you know what, I didn't even look at the tape before I stuck it down. I will check later. The tape only works to the right side of the blade so was thinking about finding tape that goes both ways.
