- Homemade Eczema Cream
Ingredients:
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup shea butter
1/2 tsp. Vitamin E Oil
12 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil
15 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
12 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil
Directions:
1. In a double boiler on medium low heat, combine coconut oil, shea butter, and vitamin E oil. Stir or whisk well until fully melted. Turn off heat.
2. Add in essential oils, stir until well incorporated.
Transfer the cream to a container. You can store this at room temperature, but if your home is warm (above 76 degrees) it may get a little “melty.” It will still do the trick but might be a little messy. If this is the case, simple store in the refrigerator.
If using on a child, apply the cream and cover the eczema patch with long sleeve shirts and pants to avoid rubbing off the cream.
Makes about 4 oz.
I purchased all the ingredients at: www.mountainroseherbs.com
You can find unrefined coconut oil at any grocery store. I bought mine from Target.
A look at the ingredients
Coconut Oil: A personally favorite for any homemade creams and lotions. Because of coconut oil’s anti-viral, antibacterial, anti-microbial, and anti-fungal properties it’s often found in plenty of beauty and personal care recipes. *If you are allergic to coconut oil just double the shea butter and leave this out. Or replace it with olive or jojoba oil.
Shea Butter: One of my favorite ingredients and a perfect moisturizer that heals the skin wonderfully. It is rich in Vitamin A and mimics the natural moisturize produced by our skin.
Melrose Essential Oil: This is a blend of Melaleuca (tea tree), Naouli, Rosemary and Clove essential oils. This power combo has amazing properties to support healthy skin. - I couldn't find this blend so I used Rosemary and Tea Tree.
Lavender Essential Oil: Another oil that is known for its tissue health. It shares a lot of the same properties as Melrose. It’s a tried and true essential oil for skin health.
Vitamin E Oil: Great for the skin, and a natural preservative. I usually add a little of this to all my homemade beauty products.
All of these ingredients are safe for babies and young children, but this cream will work for adults, too!
Thank you for posting this video. Precious family!
TY so much, fabulous, easy to follow instructions and simple ingredients - About to try this!

+Gary Buchan Thanks for watching :)
my daughter was recently diagnosed with hand and foot eczema and I asked the dermatologist about using coconut oil and she said it wasn't strong enough (I just kinda rolled my eyes) I uses coconut oil for everything. I am excited to try this for my daughter.
+Fordgirl601 I use coconut oil for a lot of my recipes and it works well on my skin. I occasionally get eczema patches but mainly I have dry, itchy skin and it always has worked for me. Sometimes doctors only care about writing prescriptions :(
The Doctor gets a kick- back!!👍✌💜
Thnx. Will try this. ❤️
Nice cream for eczema I will make it try . Thanks 👍
Thanks awesome viedo long sleeves great idea❤❤HAPPY holidays
Thank you! I hope you had a wonderful holiday as well :)
this is excellent it looks like.
I would suggest u add the essential oils in with the coconut oil and shea butter once they are completely cooled. Cuz what haapened when u put them in while they're hot, the heat breaks down the molecules in the essential oils, so they evaporate. also tea tree oil has anti-bacterial properties, and Jojoba oil is the same exact oil that human skin produces, it would be great to add those in as well.
Awesome home remedy! ♡
+Andrins N Good advice, thank you! I add tea tree oil to almost all my recipes. I love that stuff.
+MamaMittens I am trying Kunzea ( white Tea Tree Oil) slightly better smell than the yellow variety, plus they say it has better anti itching
, but time will tell
here's several tips worth trying
consure higher quantities of fruit and vegatables.
Have more water
reduce smoking.
Reduce your stress level.
(I discovered these and the reasons they work from Enata Skin System site )
MamaMittens can this be used for ringworm as well??
Thank you for sharing this recipe!
The cream i make for my eczema is only coconut oil, few drops of lavender oil and a few drops of tee tree oil. But yours seems more complete with good stuff. Will try your recipe. Thank you ♥️🌹
just got all the ingredients today, im storing in the fridge and cooling it down. hopefully it will help me out. I keep you posted after couple days. THanks for the video
+Andre I hope it works for you! It helped my son. I use it for my dry skin and it works great for that.
no response I imagine that must mean bad or lacking positive results!?
Just made this but I added a little neem oil I have to say it smells terrible! But neem is supposed to be the miracle oil if you can get past the smell I added some sweet orange and that helped to make a better scent along with the other scents. Just me tweaking it thank you for giving me a starting point!
I just found your channel, thank you.
So many great tips in comments... my head is exploding!
Another video showed using just tea tree and lavender oil but it seems you can use as many types as you want!
Can this be used on the face?
Thanks for the vid!
(I wish there were some before and after pics. :) )
Will try. Ty
Thank you :)
Hello! thank you for sharing this! my child gets eczema during the summer months and I dislike having to use prescription medicine on her! I use a lot if sunflower oil in my DIY projects at home. could I use it in conjunction with the coconut oil just cut back on it and add bees wax or a plant based wax to help keep it more solid in warm weather?
Thank you!
thank you for sharing
Thank you
Thank you for this post. I will have to try this on my grandkids. I wish I knew about this about 8yrs ago. My grandson broke out so bad. He needed urgent care and IV's to get it under control. I have 2 grandkids that have eczema. Sometimes the OTC products work. Even the prescriptions fail after a while.
My son's doctor said to keep the skin moisturized and now the only time he gets it is when he's not putting lotion or this stuff on and his skin gets dry.
Thanks so much for this cream. I’ve made it twice now and my son loves it
thanks will try
After trying this eczematreatment t.co/BTIL6ygIYD my eczema have amazingly faded. I am a person who is hard to impress, needs to be acknowledged. With this, I was not able to proceed as far as surgery and that makes me delighted and grateful.
Thank alot for shering...
I gonna try this
Add beeswax it helps to keep it on the skin loved the video thanks
Me too. I spent a lot of money for nothing
Thank you for Sharing
I tried making this - love love love the smell, and it feels good on the skin but I had trouble getting it to set up. I used half of everything (loved that this was easy to cut in half!) But making such a small amount (I just wanted to see how my skin did with it first) I melted the coconut oil and Shea (I used refined shea as that was all I had and I thought the refined would be less likely to be grainy) in a small 5oz/150ml measuring cup and placed that in a bowl of water just off the boil and stirred till it melted, then added the vit e (which is NOT a preservative - it's an antioxidant!) and adds the essential oils in last. I didn't put it in the fridge but let it sit on the bathroom counter. My house is quite cool especially in winter, but it took a week and a half to "mostly" harden up. It never did completely. I wish I knew why. The next batch I make up put it in the fridge and perhaps once hardened I'll use the mixer to whip it, and add in the essential oils then. I would love feedback from anyone who knows shea butter better than I do - this was the first recipe I'd used it in. It should be noted that all the ingredients I used were fresh so nothing outside of its shelf life. Anyone else have trouble getting it to set? Due to the small quantity I poured it into 2 miniature glass jars. It feels great and smells delicious though there is a minor bit of graininess which as I understand is the nature of Shea butter. Would I get different results using unrefined shea? When I repurchase I will be getting the unrefined. Thanks in advance for any feedback! Good luck everyone making this balm - it's really worth the effort. :-)
Use a little bees wax
I want try this
I will try this I have everything but the shea butter will go to international market or whole food to get some shea butter, thank you.
Thank you, I’ve seen article with these ingredients, but rarely the detailed amounts. Now I have to try for my daughter ( 19 years old) which constantly uses the steroid cream which only help a small percent. 🤗
Aww you are great
hi.. i made this recipe and added beeswax and so far it works great
thanks so much!
Awesome! I'm happy to hear you like it :)
+Tenung Sari - How much beeswax did you add to the eczema cream? I think I'd like to try it on my next batch. Thank you.
What can be substituted for the Shea butter? I watched a video that said Shea butter naturally contains latex.
I left out the 3 essential oils, substituted coconut oil with olive oil. It made my eczema worse since the cream I ended up with iritated my skin and made me itchy. Hope this helps anyone that was going to try the same thing
Could you whisk this once set to make a cream ?
If you have Melrose Essential Oil, does that mean that you have to put 24 drops of Melrose Essential Oil to replace the 12 drops each of Tea Tree Essential Oil and Rosemary Essential Oil? Also, can you add German Chamomile Essential Oil?
My daughter has patched as well. For it to work on making her patched go away do you think I should use all those specific oils?
Hi and hanks. Did you use raw Shaw butter?
Great recipe the only thing I was suggested not add your essential oils and with the coconut oil and Shea Butter in the double boiler while it's still on the stove. When you do that you kill all of the potent properties of the essential oil basically you just breaking them down .I'm glad it still works but technically as an aromatherapist that is what we would tell you to not do. Good choice of oils not everybody can use coconut of course so you can always swap that out with rosehip and evening primrose are great oils for many skin conditions including eczema , psoriasis and contact dermatitis.
It gives good result? How long it will take this? Pls explain
Can we use almond oil instead of coconut oil ?
I'll have to try it. I have eczema on my right hand and it can be pretty painful if I kinda make myself put care off. I've been prescribed steroidal cream but I hate it! But could possibly try during bed time and let it soak in while I sleep. Thank you!
Did it worked for you?
Smooth and creamy without beeswax? I must try. I have a very stubborn patch of excema on my shin.
Merci beaucoup 🇩🇿❣️🙏🙏🙏🙏💕🌷👏شكرا جزيلا
Will it turn back into oil if you keep it in room temperature?
Hey thanks for the video! Could you substitute sweet almond oil for the vitamin E oil?
+April Behnke Yep, I'm sure that would work just fine. Thanks for watching!
Can I store it in expoy jars and can I mix it until it’s wiped
I have eczema on back of my legs. Should I cover it with bandages?
Essential oils are notorious for aggravating sensitive skin
Can you apply it to your face?
Try adding calandula, comfrey leaf ,Camilla, lavendel, arnica this helps you can make a infuse oil let it sit for a month and use the oil with butters 👌👌
May I put this on my face?
You don’t have to add preservatives right?
Do you use raw shea butter?
+Autumn Moldon all the ingredients are listed above as well as the website where I purchased all the items.

MamaMitten
Hi I need a address where to buy these things
Do you think adding some vitamin E droplets would be good too?
I did add vitamin E oil but more probably wouldn't hurt :)
Does it feel greasy?
Hi MamaMittens I just made this cream today for my Dad, my hubby and why not for myself... but it smells quite funny... i was wondering if i could make it smell better with some bergamot ess oil (that's what I have handy) but I am not sure if that will change with anything the cream's overall properties..?
No, it shouldn't change any of the properties. I'm sure it would be ok to add.
@ mamamittens - would this work for dermatitis? I break out so bad and nothing clears that up except a prescription from the doctor . I need help .
I would think so. Both coconut oil and vitamin e are great for various skin conditions.
Can this be used around the eyes? Thanks for sharing.
It would be ok for your face but I wouldn't put anything too close to your eyes.
Hey! Thank you for the video! What could I substitute for the coconut oil? My son is allergic 😢
You can use olive oil for a substitute
Omg I've had this problem forever an could an still haven't got rid of it . If you don't mind can you tell me where you Got everything and a list of what all I need an the measure meants , so I can visual see "written down "
Oh all the measurements are in the description and the company she got it from is Mountain rose Herbs. But you can get it Cheaper at A market, Whole foods, WALMART, etc. I would suggest using Extra Virgin coconut oil and yeah.
any idea if going simple and just using shea butter and coconut oil would have good results? I ordered shea butter for eczema from amazon, over 5000 reviews and a 5 star rating. I just wanted to change the texture so it will be easy to apply.
It's worth a try. Both Shea and Coconut Oil are really good for your skin.
Try sunflower oil instead of coconut oil. It has lots of vit E and very good for eczema.
You can mix if you so wish. Sunflower oil is a great source of vitamin E, rich in nutrients and antioxidants , and is effective for combating skincare issues like acne, inflammatory, general redness and irritation of the skin.Sunflower oil has emollient properties that help the skin retain its moisture.
I just done making some, I want to know how long is good put inside fridge?
I'm not sure how long it will keep, but I had mine for months.
can I use this on my 2 mo old?
I made this cream last night and it didn’t set up after I took it out of the fridg. I followed the recipe to the T!
Please how long take to expire? Thanks
I'm not sure of the exact shelf life but mine lasted many months until it was gone.
Guess you cant use a Microwave to melt the coconut and Shea butter, then add in the essential oil drops?
What do u recommend for a substitute for the coconut oil and shea butter?
Almond or sunflower oil
Can you choose other oils or are these essential to helping eczema?
The essential oils I used all promote healthy skin and are known for tissue health.
Can you use mango butter instead of shea butter?
Did you ever make it with mango butter? Did this recipe work? Looking to make recipe soon for my toddler. Her skin is pretty red
Can i use cocoa butter instead of shea? Thanks!
Yes
Anything for vitiligo?
Whats the expiry of the product
If anyone who has tried this recipe, how long did it take for your skin to heal from eczema?
Hi Mama I have made up a balm mixture but is very runny, should this be the case or. Should it be set like a balm?, thanks Regards Gary
Put the cream in the refrigerator and it will become more like a balm. Since coconut oil is in the ingredients it can become softer if its warm in your house. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching :)
+MamaMittens You can also add beeswax. 1:6 ratio is the best. (1 being the beeswax)
Is it good for dyshiotic Ecxema?
Perhaps? I didn't know there were different kinda of eczema. This was always good on my sons skin.
Can I add beewax
What kind of patches did he have.. like white patches or dry .. cause my daughter has white patches I really want to get rid of
Pink patches that were dry and itchy
