I love to listen and learn from you. Your accent makes me remember all my Polish relatives gone now. Your recipes are wonderful and delicious. Thank You for welcoming us to your home!
Please don't stop these down to earth, home recipes! It's almost like a potato version of how my grandmother made scrapple. Thank you and your husband (aka - your creative team lol)!
Thanks for watching Joey!
This was a Sunday night supper at Babcia’s. Thank you for awakening happy memories.
My Babcia made it the same way. I like to slice it thinner and fry it crisp. I need to make some, we dug over 300 lbs of taters from our garden this year.
My german gran made something similar only with grated potato, onion and sausage, salt and pepper with a little flower and egg. Then baked and it was called Gahakus, Yum
Thanks for sharing!
Makes me happy
Growing up we would eat this out of the Pyrex the first day then Mom would fry up the leftovers. My mouth is watering as I’m typing.
Hello, looks delicious! Love Polish food, happy Easter! 🐇🐣🌸🌞🌷 Subscribed
If ever there was such a thing as a food'gasum!!!!
reminds me of food my busia made 50 years ago when I was growing up in Wisconsin...always so good.
I was at a local farmers market the other day and they had homemade cheese babka.
I just found you and I love you!!!
Looks really yummy eh
Yes, please modern ways!!! YOU being Polish make them authentic... not showing us the old ways. Every polish recipe I have ever gotten seems way too complicated, so it would be great to have a resource of Polish recipes with ways that are quick and use modern equipment 😊
This looks absolutely delicious! You cannot go wrong with potatoes and bacon!
You got that right!
Potatoloaf? Taterloaf!!! 😁😁
I have never seen anything quite like this before. Crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside? I bet they are absolutely delicious. Covered in turkey gravy?? 😁😁
Thank you for sharing!! Take care!!
It really is a fun dish. Mark ate almost the entire thing the day I made it! Thanks for watching.
Omg,,,,,,,, 👍👌
I love this recipe! Wspanialy przepis, nidgy nie jadalam tego! Absolutnie robie ten przepis na Thanksgiving, na sniadanie z jajecznica.
😲 MUSISZ to zaserwować! Zwariują!
This is great! I’ll be making this on the weekend!
Looks wonderful...can't wait to try it.
Looks delicious
Making your babka tomorrow & I can't wait!
New one for me I will have to try this recipe
Yum!
Love this!! I'm 100% polska...my mom used to make everything. Try adding kasza manna (farina) instead of flour. Adds a little texture and yes, my mom did it. Love your channel ❤
The Farina is an interesting idea! Thank you.
thank you for this recipe I was at our friends Polish friends this past weekend and had some of this and now I need to make it!!!!
Ooo that looks so yummy 👍💝
Thank you 😋
It is insanely delicious!
Thanks for sharing this recipe , it looks really good. You two make a great team together.
Ooh! That could become one of our "Polish Staples", like smalec!
Hi Anna...I am making this today!!!....love the recipe....Dziekuje Ci❤💐❤
Enjoy!
OMG and here it is!!! \o/ happy dancing. I have to spell these dishes phonetically because l have never seen the words written. so Bapka = Babka! At first l was very confused by the chocolate bread. hahaha! It is very much like potato pancakes on steroids + bacon heeheehee.
This past Sunday I made your bigos recipe and it was so, so delicious!!!! We are still have a lot of it left over. My husband has been enjoying every bite and asked if we can have it again tonight!!! So, we are eating it again (3rd time straight) and I’m also going to make your potato babka to eat with it!!!! Your recipes are amazing and delicious and they always sends me back in time. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the kind words Sonia. It makes me so happy to hear things like this! Enjoy, and thanks for watching!
Plan on making this one for our Thanksgiving! So glad I found you. My wife gave me your cookbook for my birthday.
Fun!! Sounds like she knows you well. Thanks for watching!! 😊
Dzieki 🧡🦃🥔🇵🇱
I’m adding this recipe to our Thanksgiving Feast also😋
I have my Bacia’s recipe. She made hers in a large casserole dish and served it with ham. It’s a very tasty recipe. I don’t know of any Polish person who doesn’t like Potatoes, do you?
Yes, I agree, we LOVE potatoes!
Okay, why have I never heard of this before? I know a lot of Polish people that are gonna get a earful!
😮
I can tell how delicious this is by hearing Mark's laughter. Love it. This is a must try for me. Especially since my last name ends in ski...😊❤️😆. Thank you so much for sharing your Polish heritage and recipes! Now for a creative question: do you think this recipe might work with sweet potatoes instead of yellow potatoes? Or would the sweet potatos be too dense? What about pumpkin instead of potatos? I am just thinking outside the box. I might have to do some experimenting. I appreciate your thoughts on these ideas. ❤️
Do you ever cook kidneys ? Perch fish soup, sour green bean soup. I love you
Next day if is left some try babka cut in slices and fry with little oil or butter. Serve with ketchup or some salt yuomy
I absolutely love ur channel. Im a subscriber, and already bought some merch. Im so jealous of your tattoos. Did you get them in America, or Poland? With me being of pol decent, I'd happily take my ass to Poland to get a break, and get a tattoo. Thanks so much for your channel.
Anna and I have gotten tattooed all over the world during our travels. The tattoos you see on her arms were done right here in Szczecin, Poland by a very talented young lady at Fine Line Tattoo. Thanks for watching!
@@markhurning8051 What he said lol!
Damn im so jealous of ur artists. With the damn covid it makes it harder ya know. Im covered in ink. But if you want a new one right now it makes it kinda hard. I still will always pay, but I wanna be safe. Im always gonna be a subscriber to your channel. I've seen some of your tats. I frigging love u guys. No bullshit. Does she got a hot sister? Lol. Im the loyalist dog. Hahahaha. Thanks man. Thanks for the response. Im gonna buy ur merchandise till the day I die. Im only 42. Lol. Just make sure it doesn't take 2 week to get to Michigan. Hahaha. Obviously im kidding, but it would be a dream for me to meet u and ur wife. HELL, ILL PAY FOR FRIDAY DINNER/LUNCH. ITS ON ME.
@@PolishYourKitchen Anna, you are the real deal. Like I asked Mark, you got a single sister? Hahaha. You were supposed to tap into city chicken for me. Remember?
@@mikenance6240 I have a brother if you're interested, but he's married too lol. The city chicken is a Polish-American dish from what I understand. Something like Italian American dishes that are not seen in Italy, like garlic bread, and spaghetti and meatballs. Next time we're in Michigan we will take you up on lunch! Thanks for watching!
LOVE YOU
Keep these terrific recipes coming! Always looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for watching Phillip!
My wife's grandmother made a barley type bread called pirog. Sadly the recipe went with her. Are you familiar with it? Is it something that you could do in a video? Keep up the great work - we really enjoy your videos
Luigi, baked piróg normally is a version of dough with filling, in the shape of a miniature "calzone". Was it made with barley filling or barley flour?
We make a potato pie. Bread dough with a potato bacon onion and buckwheat filling. Roll out dough place filling and bring dough over and pinch to seal. Vent and bake. Amazingly good. Never had a written recipe
Is this the Polish version of kugelis?
I missed not having a Friday "Kitchen Closed" episode. I suppose it can be difficult to find places to go when restaurants are having to close again.
Thanks to Covid 19 I fear everything will be closed again.
Yes, we had to stop and think how to proceed. New episode will be out this Friday. :) Thanks for being a fan. We appreciate it so much!! :)
Mój mąż polakiem approves!
Polak approved :) Best compliment ever :)
What about making it a few days before Thanksgiving cutting it into cubes and letting it dry and then using it for stuffing? Do you think that would work?
Potato Babka is pretty dense, so I'm not sure it would act the same as a bread based stuffing, but if you give it a try let me know how it worked! Thanks for watching!
@@PolishYourKitchen That’s what I was thinking. But I was not 100% sure if it really was as dense as it looked. If I try I will let you know!
Looks YUMMY. What kind of potatoes did you use?
We used new potatoes in this dish. A waxy potato works really well in this recipe. Thanks for watching!
I wonder how these will do in a muffin tin
Yes the modern way is great, pls, I'm so tired LOL.
Yes please, let use the tool that have made or lives easier!
Moja babcia pochodzi z Brześcia nad Bugiem. Czy pani rodzina też pochodzi z tych okolic bo pani przepisy są identyczne jak robiła to moja babcia
Moja rodzina pochodzi głównie z centralnej Polski, Łódź/Sieradz, i z północy. Codzienna kuchnia polska nie różni się aż tak bardzo, wiadomo, każdy region ma swoje specjały ale trzymamy się tych samych podstaw.
Anna you had a beautifu mug you were using when you spoke with a woman at Surroundigs ceramic. It had a black background with various colored flowers. How can I purchase one like it? TY if you can Respond. Love your videos'
You can find that mug or one similar to it depending on her current inventory here, facebook.com/Polishshop.us Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
butter, baconm, potato? Then more butter? You had me at butter
Hi! What kind of potato did you use? Thank you!
We used a waxy potato such as new potatoes work really well for this wonderful babka. Thanks for watching!
I could live on just potatoes. I feel out of sorts if I don't have some type of taters at least every other day . I'm half German , the other half is English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh which are almost all the same lol
Agreed, potatoes is my middle name 😉
This sounds similar to the Lithuanian Kugela dish. Is it basically the same then?
It seems like a very similar dish. There are many dishes that seem to be shared in the Baltic/Slavic regions of Europe. Kugela looks really good as well. Thanks for watching!
I went to a smell a vision movie once
Baking it afterwards makes me ask the question why not bake it straight away?
What type of potatoes did you use?????
A waxy potato is best. I used new potatoes in mine. Thanks for watching JC!
What about cooking fish?
I actually had to wipe a little drool from the corner of my mouth.
That is a good problem to have! Thanks for watching Mary!
Garnish with sour cream
Need to be gluten free. Love that there isn’t much flour!
