For all wondering whether or not this is true.
The wiki page actually says that Mickey is lonely and looking for a friend. In fact, Arthur and John are probably the only people who’ve given him the time of day in years. While the article does state that Mickey lied about being in the army and that Mickey will sometimes pickpocket when desperate, it says nothing about him pickpocketing Arthur when he gives him a hug. On the contrary, it explains that Mickey actually likes Arthur and is glad Arthur took the time to hold him. Mickey also says he lied about being a veteran because he is just trying to gain sympathy.
Seems to me someone needs to do their homework more often.

i don’t know how many people had this experience, before arthur’s last ride i seen mickey again. he called me over and told me i didn’t look well. he said not many people were very kind to him and that arthur never did him any wrong. he said some thing along the lines of, basically, “you’ve been good to me, i’m sad you’re leaving this world soon.” it made me feel sad. i quite liked mickey
he also came clean and told me he had been lying about being in the war but he appreciates that arthur was still kind to him

Well, who am I to pass judgement? Like John said, "Arthur was part good, part bad" just like everyone else. Such a human lesson from such a brilliant game.
Only thing I find a little cheesy about the veterans is the fact that somehow they’re still wearing a uniform in pretty good condition that at this point in time would be nearly 35 years old.
That would be like some veteran today somehow keeping his uniform intact for that long going back to like desert storm lol

I was nice to him in chapter 6. He made me tear up when he asked for a hug, and I said yes. He was lonely and wanted a friend.
I went back later in chapter 6, when Arthur was sick. Of everyone Arthur knew, Mickey was the only one who seemed to notice he was super sick, and was super sad when he found out that he was dying. He kept trying to find the right thing to say, but was at a loss for words, and devastated that his friend was dying.

Even if he lifts something off you its not a huge deal its probably the only way of life he's known. It's not like he's evil he just has some screws loose. First of all, the wiki says: “His speech is awkward, repetitive, and strained, but he is very thankful towards anyone willing to stand him for more than a couple seconds. However, Mickey is still desperate enough to take advantage of people's generosity by pickpocketing them if he can.”
It doesn’t directly say AT ALL that Mickey pick pockets you.
Secondly, the wiki says he accidentally sat on his puppy and killed it, I doubt he would of purposefully killed his puppy no human would do that.
Lastly yes he does indeed lie about him being a veteran but at the end of the day I think he is more than deserving of a few dollars or even a hug. The poor man is homeless the only real interaction he’s probably had in a decade is with Arthur and John.

We’re all the better person for having listened to Mickey, and shown him some compassion.
If you interact with him enough he will tell you he lost his arm when he got drunk and passed out on the railroad tracks right after he admits to not being a veteran. The real mystery is the dead friend that totally wasn't his fault.

@@darthbane5676 I hope you're being sarcastic. If however you're not, sometimes when you enter a store, a random encounter may occur. A guy walking out of the store bumps into you and you immediately get notified that you've lost money. It takes Arthur a second or two to realize this and chase after the thief. The game notifies you this even before Arthur himself realizes this. The same would've happened if Mickey really pickpocketed you.

This is gonna be a dumb question I'm sure, but how do you replay a side mission multiple time's like the bum or the vampire or women in valentines who killed that man? I've tried and can't seem to get them to ever appear again after the first interaction.

I helped Micky a lot through the story and in the final horse ride with Arthur Micky was one of the voices saying "You know mister, you're one of the only people that was good to me." And its one of my favourite lines so....Love ya Micky 🤝

Homie, there are always lots of leftover uniforms and other surplus equipment in the wake of war. There are multiple sites/ remnants of old civil war battle grounds, at one point in time the dead likely out numbered the living, and by the state of that uniform, i wouldn’t be shocked if that man hasn’t taken those rags off one time in the entirety of the damn near forty years since the civil war.
