Molly was the first one to really know who Dutch really is. She attempt to ask Arthur in chapter 2 about Dutch's misbehavior but Arthur gets carried away by another member in a mission. I'm pretty sure she tried in a way, to tell the others but they were so blind in loyalty to see it. Sadly it was too late for them to realize that Dutch wasn't really who he apparently was, the fall of Molly's relationship with Dutch was just the beginning signs of Dutch's real personality. Dutch didn't care about molly, didn't care about Arthur, didn't care about the gang. All he cared was himself, so selfish.
What bothered me after Colm O'Driscoll captured Arthur was why Dutch didn't at least get curious about why Arthur wasn't at the rendezvous point. If a member of your team goes missing when they're supposed to be at a rendezvous point, wouldn't you at least wonder what happened? The purpose of a rendezvous is to make sure everyone is accounted for.

There are scraps of newspaper in his little camp outside Strawberry that displays the amount of money that was offered as a bounty for Dutch. Micah kept Dutch's bounty poster with him next to his bed in that camp because he wanted that bounty money. He always intended on turning Dutch in right from the day he first met him. He and his dad had also previously killed someone else that they'd worked for before Micah was part of Dutch's crew. It was always Micah.

This literally happened to me. I woke up one morning in camp to Molly and Dutch arguing. I went close and Dutch just said “Good morning, Arthur.” right after he just yelled at Molly.
And when I played they were arguing and I talked to micah to start a mission then molly came and Arthur asked where is Dutch and molly is like 🤷♂️ and Dutch came from the front of the camp
The whole situation is just terrible. Not only did she die needlessly, she also got cremated instead of buried (which is an honor that all dead members of the gang receive).
I think, like she said “I loved you” she just wanted to get Dutch’s attention, also she was drunk she said the first thing that would actually get Dutch to notice her. She was just a woman who lived a madman, she never told even though she could of.. she just wanted his attention, but got killed just because he ignored her so many times...
Even worse he kept stringing her along even though he knew he didn't love her & had no plans of wifeing her. He just kept her around at his beck & call in case he had any desires. I feel bad for Molly because it seems that she truly loved & cared for Dutch & he ignored her when all she wanted was his affections. & she ended up paying for her loyalty with her life.
I agree with your deduction %100. Molly was ignored and it drove her mad. The only way she thought she could get to Dutch was by saying that she betrayed him and the gang. I also think in ch. 4 in one of the missions with Dutch, Molly attempts to talk to Dutch and seems genuinely worried and concerned about something, but Dutch gives her the cold shoulder and runs off with Arthur. My theory is she was trying to warn him about the pinkertons. Trying to tell him that she got picked up and questioned but kept her mouth shut but non the less they need to move/be more careful.

You know something I noticed watching this video, is at every camp the gang makes in the game Arthur's tent is right next to Dutchs, and in the beaver hollow its much further away and Micah is always sitting at the table where right outside Dutchs tent. I like when Dutch give that speech in the beginning of chapter 6 no one's listening and Micah is actually sleeping at the table LMAO

You'll notice there's a few times when a mission starts that you have to talk to Ms. Oshea and she tries to gently reach out to Dutch, but he comes and cuts off conversation and the mission starts, fully dismissing her
She gave up a life of privilege to be with him. He was a master manipulator, a predator who knew how to make people believe what he wanted them to believe, and she believed he loved her. The same way Author and John believed Dutch loved them. In the end no one was more of a victim of Dutch than Molly. She couldn't live without his lies.

Would be cool for it to end with lawmen entering the ferry in black water and just ending with a cut scene of Arthur like “Oh Shit”.

This game took 8 years to make but they had to start over on a whole new platform than the first etc so hopefully the next won't take as long. Man i always thought it would be cool if the third game was kinda like a "series" of everyone's stories, like how the gang started or how people joined. i know it mentions it in RDR2 for some but it would still be cool to play
Yeah, I think they pretty much have to, because every ones story is pretty much set in stone, and they would have to introduce a whole new story. Like the only people I could see they can continue with is Javier, Bill, Charles and Jack. Jack is probably the only one that can have a proper story line, the rest is hard to give them anything more than a side quest.
I think the reason why Molly said what she did is very pure and simple. She loved Dutch. She’d given her life and soul to him. But he hadn’t returned that same love. She hated him for that. And she wanted to hurt him. She knew that the thought her of betraying him would cut him deeper than any knife or bullet. She didn’t care about the consequences because she was too distraught by current situation to even care about living. He hurt her and she just wanted to hurt him back.
She was lead away from a life of comfort for love that Dutch promised her. She was isolated from all the other girls in camp, didn’t do chores or set up, and dressed much nicer than the other girls which just separated her more. She was fully dependent on Dutch cause he promised her protection, “I have gods ear” she finally had his attention
"She knew the rules" they said it several times. I think she wanted to die and couldn't do it herself. Maybe she wanted to die and make Dutch hurt in the process.
You know i still have the fishing memories with Jack. Until the forbidden pinkertons came and destroyed the fun. Jack is still a wonderful boy now though nearly an adult he is growing fast as the ligth.
Don't forget thre other master manipulator: Micah. I kinda think he put Molly up to confessing to being the rat with promises that she could get her revenge and that Dutch wouldn't retaliate because of their relationship. Molly gets the blame and Micah buys more time for himself. The jerk.

I haven't personally researched this, but I've read that TB is a dormant infection. It requires a full on breakdown of your immune system to take over. Arthur nearly dying in the ocean is what started his countdown to death. At least that's the theory I've read, but it makes sense since Arthur was only dying after Guarma.

The one thing that has confused me about this whole thing... Milton said Micah started helping them out after Guarma, which was also after the bank robbery. So Micah couldn’t have been the one to tip the Pinkertons off about the bank robbery. So if Molly didn’t do it, and clearly Micah didn’t do it.... who did?
It’s no one. It’s obvious that the Pinkertons would find them there. Pinkertons aren’t that dumb. Killing bronte just got their heat too high and that’s why it happened. They knew that the only thing they could do was rob the bank.
I think it was bronte, i mean he already tricked them with the post robbery, so maybe after his death the pinkertons knew where the gang would strike next.
I got rdr2 about 2 weeks ago. I hadgrown so used to the gang that when they started to fall apart, I literally sat there with the controller in my hands crying. The story was so sad at parts. It hurt to watch the gang fall apart. And to see Dutch's true colors.. Damn.. But in the last mission, on the mountains, where you got to finish off Micah, I was shocked at Dutch's actions. It has a truly heartwarming and heartbreaking storyline..
Just played some of this today, and something struck me for the first time... The mission where Molly tries to talk to Arthur, but is interrupted by Uncle, An Honest Mistake. Which I'd always taken to reference Uncle not knowing it was a Cornwall carriage. But this time i took it differently. She starts by asking if Dutch is ok, to which Arthur says he's about the same as always. Then, and this is what struck me, she says something along the lines of, "I'm worried, you know how Dutch is, loyalty is everything...if he ever found out..." And then thats when uncle interrupts. If dutch ever found out what? The Honest Mistake might very well refer to whatever Molly doesn't want dutch to find out about, since he thinks loyalty is everything. Did she cheat on dutch? Did she tell the pinkertons where to find them near valentine, or told cornwall? Whatever it is that she did, it's eating her up, and it's after that mission that she starts behaving differently. Maybe it's that guilt that leads her to push dutch away, and then eventually try to force him to kill her. Or maybe she blames him for driving her to cheating? Just find it interesting that i saw that scene completely differently this time.
A bit further in, when Dutch and Micah go to meet Colm... Colm says "you always did like the ladies, Dutch van der Linde. I always liked that about you." I wonder if that line has any bearing on what Molly is distressed/guilty about.
I think molly becamre depressed from everyone laughing and making fun of her. She was only there cos she loved dutch And when he started to treat her badly she became depressed and maybe a bit crazy. I think she slowly became suicidal and she knew the rules so she made dutch go mad and she was killed

You are SPOT ON. Molly was actually one of my favorite characters because I am a girl who loved a man who promised me the world but he used me for his own amusement instead. So I feel like I can kind of relate to Molly. She just finally had it with pretending that Dutch loved her & pretending they have a future as a couple & she wanted him to feel the same hurt & betrayal that she felt with his constant rejection. I am not saying that Molly was right or coherent in her actions, but I can say that Dutch was completely self absorbed through all of this. But since I felt so attached to Molly as a character I now feel a hatred for Ms.Grimshaw that a lot of people (including myself) feel for Micah. Whenever she talks to me in camp I snub her & give her the cold shoulder because I realize at a moments notice she can kill one of her own without much evidence to motivate her. I suppose a confession is usually pretty substantial evidence but in my eyes Molly's death was a tragedy caused only by her love for Dutch, seeing him as an idealization of freedom & strength. So sad.
No, molly ratted on the gang before the bank robbery in Saint Denis. When Dutch and the boys got back from Guama, Milton and the Pinkertons caught Mr. bell and had him feed information to them. We find this out when Milton tells Arthur during his rescue attempt for Abigail

I think she just wanted to die but didn't want to kill herself. So she said what she needed to not only get back at dutch in a way, make him hurt like he made her hurt, but as a way to get killed by someone else. Hence why she smiled when she was shot. She knew her pain and mistreatment was finally over.
Dutch overshadows everything in the game. Along with a few other characters. Some character's can be easy distractions from what else is happening, Making it difficult to focus on EVERYTHING AT ONCE. Kind of like you spending time in real life with certain people, Thing's always get overshadowed, It just is very hard to tell because of too many complicated factors for me to explain properly. And all of this would be heavily dependant on a certain situation.
This is why I live by the saying "words said in anger will never taste sweet" - she shouldn't have wasted her breath on him because in the end all he cared about was him and other people being loyal to him. i think she knew that when she went off like that because it got to a point where she thought "oh so i'm here suffering and none of this bothers you like it does for me? Fine, I'll say something that will bug you" but it's still sad....poor girl deserved better. They don't even talk about her body like it was once a living person they shared their camp with just a sack of meat waiting to be burned and disposed of :(

Poor thing. Such a tragedy. What if the story took an entirely different turn & Molly made Dutch see that there was more lo life than fighting? & that he left the life of an outlaw to love Molly & start a family. Wouldn't that have been a happy ending? & then in the end could show them all at a "family" reunion. Lenny & Hosea would still be alive. Micah would not have anything to snitch about. Crazy how the butterfly effect can change the course of history for so many people. Ah sorry I am a bit stoned & I went off on a tangent there.
I agree, she was trying to touch him deeply in the one way she knew she could when all else failed, she wanted to hurt him and she wanted to end her own hurt. She did all she set out to accomplish. Tragic.

I know the real reason Molly lies to Dutch. It’s because in the games script the writers wrote it so that she lied, then, the voice actors actually read right off the script. I know, I know. Big surprise. I was disappointed to find this out too. The writers actually making it so she lied to Dutch the the voice actors reading it that way. Insanity. I think also Dutch's lack of care for the gang became most clear when he didn't order a clearout of the camp after Molly's supposed betrayal. This should've been a clear warning the Pinkertons were enroute or at least aware they were nearby. There's no proof but I also think Micah was responsible for the Pinkertons from the start including the Colter chapter stand-off, likely thinking he'd gain something faster with fewer numbers. He didn't go straight to the Pinkertons per se, but he was leaving some kind of trail to be sure.
In a game full of "OH GOD NO" moments, this was one of the more shocking to me. It just goes to show how much faith Mrs. Grimshaw had in Dutch(that faith being sadly misplaced).
I love how nobody noticed she explicitly mentions the bank and not anything else. It’s pretty easy to tell that Micah is the real rat and Molly only told the Pinkertons about one robbery bc she was obviously distraught. I doubt she “lied”

actually, if you focus on the scene, all she says is she told them about the bank robbery.. not everything else.. micah is the one that spills on everything, she was the one to call the cops for the robbery
Actually I belive she meant that she told the agents, that she wished Dutch to be killed at the bank robbery.... Not that she told on the gang. She is drunk and crazy and are not let to speak out fully, before she is shot dead.
The other gang members treated Molly like crap because she was also treating them like crap. Since she was Dutch's lover, she looked down upon other gang members and had no respect for them except Arthur I think. What she didn't realize was that kind of attitude might have been working when she was in Ireland because of her social status, it would never work out in a gang of outlaws because Dutch may have been the leader of the gang, but there was no social statuses.
One of the best things Rockstar did in RDR2 was set the atmosphere at the camp. You can feel the love and family closeness they have with each other in the first 2-3 chapters. Then chapter 4 onwards it slowly goes and when Molly gets killed you just feel the animosity everyone has for each other.
Best ending: Everything happens like it happens but, Arthur right before he died coughs on Micah and John doesn’t have to go beast mode on Mount Heagen and get the Pinkertons Attention

This literally happened to me. I woke up one morning in camp to Molly and Dutch arguing. I went close and Dutch just said “Good morning, Arthur.” right after he just yelled at Molly.
Yep that's pretty much how it goes I stop one of them then the other picks another fight and I fail then I drown someone to take my mind off of it
And when I played they were arguing and I talked to micah to start a mission then molly came and Arthur asked where is Dutch and molly is like 🤷♂️ and Dutch came from the front of the camp

Even worse he kept stringing her along even though he knew he didn't love her & had no plans of wifeing her. He just kept her around at his beck & call in case he had any desires. I feel bad for Molly because it seems that she truly loved & cared for Dutch & he ignored her when all she wanted was his affections. & she ended up paying for her loyalty with her life.

I agree with your deduction %100. Molly was ignored and it drove her mad. The only way she thought she could get to Dutch was by saying that she betrayed him and the gang. I also think in ch. 4 in one of the missions with Dutch, Molly attempts to talk to Dutch and seems genuinely worried and concerned about something, but Dutch gives her the cold shoulder and runs off with Arthur. My theory is she was trying to warn him about the pinkertons. Trying to tell him that she got picked up and questioned but kept her mouth shut but non the less they need to move/be more careful.

If they ever make a Red dead redemption 3 I want it to be set before rdr2 and we get to see Arthur getting taking in by Dutch and how the fued with Colm starts and Anabels death. Would be cool for it to end with lawmen entering the ferry in black water and just ending with a cut scene of Arthur like “Oh Shit”.
And have it end(or be the epilogue) at the Blackwater ferry job. I hope they do. This game took 8 years to make but they had to start over on a whole new platform than the first etc so hopefully the next won't take as long. I have a feeling there's going to be a DLC, too, like the first. Maybe another Undead redemption

Man i always thought it would be cool if the third game was kinda like a "series" of everyone's stories, like how the gang started or how people joined. i know it mentions it in RDR2 for some but it would still be cool to play
Yeah, I think they pretty much have to, because every ones story is pretty much set in stone, and they would have to introduce a whole new story. Like the only people I could see they can continue with is Javier, Bill, Charles and Jack. Jack is probably the only one that can have a proper story line, the rest is hard to give them anything more than a side quest.

I think the reason why Molly said what she did is very pure and simple. She loved Dutch. She’d given her life and soul to him. But he hadn’t returned that same love. She hated him for that. And she wanted to hurt him. She knew that the thought her of betraying him would cut him deeper than any knife or bullet. She didn’t care about the consequences because she was too distraught by current situation to even care about living. He hurt her and she just wanted to hurt him back.
She was lead away from a life of comfort for love that Dutch promised her. She was isolated from all the other girls in camp, didn’t do chores or set up, and dressed much nicer than the other girls which just separated her more. She was fully dependent on Dutch cause he promised her protection, “I have gods ear” she finally had his attention
She was testing Dutch. She wanted to see if Dutch cared about her enough to forego the rules of the gang for her. But she forgot about Mrs. Grimshaw.
"She knew the rules" they said it several times. I think she wanted to die and couldn't do it herself. Maybe she wanted to die and make Dutch hurt in the process.
You know i still have the fishing memories with Jack. Until the forbidden pinkertons came and destroyed the fun. Jack is still a wonderful boy now though nearly an adult he is growing fast as the ligth.

I haven't personally researched this, but I've read that TB is a dormant infection. It requires a full on breakdown of your immune system to take over. Arthur nearly dying in the ocean is what started his countdown to death. At least that's the theory I've read, but it makes sense since Arthur was only dying after Guarma.
Some of them probably got it, but tuberculosis is a disease that usually does not show any symptoms (only the 10% of the infected appear symptoms).

The one thing that has confused me about this whole thing... Milton said Micah started helping them out after Guarma, which was also after the bank robbery. So Micah couldn’t have been the one to tip the Pinkertons off about the bank robbery. So if Molly didn’t do it, and clearly Micah didn’t do it.... who did?

I got rdr2 about 2 weeks ago. I hadgrown so used to the gang that when they started to fall apart, I literally sat there with the controller in my hands crying. The story was so sad at parts. It hurt to watch the gang fall apart. And to see Dutch's true colors.. Damn.. But in the last mission, on the mountains, where you got to finish off Micah, I was shocked at Dutch's actions. It has a truly heartwarming and heartbreaking storyline..
Just played some of this today, and something struck me for the first time...
The mission where Molly tries to talk to Arthur, but is interrupted by Uncle, An Honest Mistake. Which I'd always taken to reference Uncle not knowing it was a Cornwall carriage.
But this time i took it differently.
She starts by asking if Dutch is ok, to which Arthur says he's about the same as always.
Then, and this is what struck me, she says something along the lines of, "I'm worried, you know how Dutch is, loyalty is everything...if he ever found out..."
And then thats when uncle interrupts.
If dutch ever found out what?
The Honest Mistake might very well refer to whatever Molly doesn't want dutch to find out about, since he thinks loyalty is everything.
Did she cheat on dutch?
Did she tell the pinkertons where to find them near valentine, or told cornwall?
Whatever it is that she did, it's eating her up, and it's after that mission that she starts behaving differently.
Maybe it's that guilt that leads her to push dutch away, and then eventually try to force him to kill her.
Or maybe she blames him for driving her to cheating?
Just find it interesting that i saw that scene completely differently this time.
A bit further in, when Dutch and Micah go to meet Colm...
Colm says "you always did like the ladies, Dutch van der Linde. I always liked that about you."
I wonder if that line has any bearing on what Molly is distressed/guilty about.

You are SPOT ON. Molly was actually one of my favorite characters because I am a girl who loved a man who promised me the world but he used me for his own amusement instead. So I feel like I can kind of relate to Molly. She just finally had it with pretending that Dutch loved her & pretending they have a future as a couple & she wanted him to feel the same hurt & betrayal that she felt with his constant rejection. I am not saying that Molly was right or coherent in her actions, but I can say that Dutch was completely self absorbed through all of this.
But since I felt so attached to Molly as a character I now feel a hatred for Ms.Grimshaw that a lot of people (including myself) feel for Micah. Whenever she talks to me in camp I snub her & give her the cold shoulder because I realize at a moments notice she can kill one of her own without much evidence to motivate her. I suppose a confession is usually pretty substantial evidence but in my eyes Molly's death was a tragedy caused only by her love for Dutch, seeing him as an idealization of freedom & strength. So sad.

No, molly ratted on the gang before the bank robbery in Saint Denis. When Dutch and the boys got back from Guama, Milton and the Pinkertons caught Mr. bell and had him feed information to them. We find this out when Milton tells Arthur during his rescue attempt for Abigail

I like that you included scenes of Molly's different interactions in camp that support as evidence because even after playing the game over many times there where a few scenes I never saw which was interesting to watch.

So she said what she needed to not only get back at dutch in a way, make him hurt like he made her hurt, but as a way to get killed by someone else. Hence why she smiled when she was shot. Dutch overshadows everything in the game. Along with a few other characters. Some character's can be easy distractions from what else is happening, Making it difficult to focus on EVERYTHING AT ONCE. Kind of like you spending time in real life with certain people, Thing's always get overshadowed, It just is very hard to tell because of too many complicated factors for me to explain properly. And all of this would be heavily dependant on a certain situation.

Fine, I'll say something that will bug you" but it's still sad....poor girl deserved better. They don't even talk about her body like it was once a living person they shared their camp with just a sack of meat waiting to be burned and disposed of :(

What if the story took an entirely different turn & Molly made Dutch see that there was more lo life than fighting? & that he left the life of an outlaw to love Molly & start a family. Wouldn't that have been a happy ending? & then in the end could show them all at a "family" reunion. Lenny & Hosea would still be alive. Micah would not have anything to snitch about. Crazy how the butterfly effect can change the course of history for so many people. Ah sorry I am a bit stoned & I went off on a tangent there.

I know the real reason Molly lies to Dutch. It’s because in the games script the writers wrote it so that she lied, then, the voice actors actually read right off the script. I know, I know. Big surprise. I was disappointed to find this out too. The writers actually making it so she lied to Dutch the the voice actors reading it that way. Insanity. Jerk My Ego thanks!! I don’t usually like giving someone a hard time. But this guy is really reaching with RD2. All the videos where he acts like he’s found something top secret or whatever. I watch his videos now just to see how far he will go. Its hilariously sad at this point.

Jerk My Ego oh absolutely. When I first started watching his videos he was actually posting useful videos that showed things that a person might miss. Now he’s just posting nonsense. It is entertaining like you said though.
I think also Dutch's lack of care for the gang became most clear when he didn't order a clearout of the camp after Molly's supposed betrayal. This should've been a clear warning the Pinkertons were enroute or at least aware they were nearby. There's no proof but I also think Micah was responsible for the Pinkertons from the start including the Colter chapter stand-off, likely thinking he'd gain something faster with fewer numbers. He didn't go straight to the Pinkertons per se, but he was leaving some kind of trail to be sure.
I feel so bad for her. She deserves so much better
In a game full of "OH GOD NO" moments, this was one of the more shocking to me. It just goes to show how much faith Mrs. Grimshaw had in Dutch(that faith being sadly misplaced).

I love how nobody noticed she explicitly mentions the bank and not anything else. It’s pretty easy to tell that Micah is the real rat and Molly only told the Pinkertons about one robbery bc she was obviously distraught. I doubt she “lied”

actually, if you focus on the scene, all she says is she told them about the bank robbery.. not everything else.. micah is the one that spills on everything, she was the one to call the cops for the robbery

It's a pretty common trope involving scorned lovers.
The other gang members treated Molly like crap because she was also treating them like crap. Since she was Dutch's lover, she looked down upon other gang members and had no respect for them except Arthur I think. What she didn't realize was that kind of attitude might have been working when she was in Ireland because of her social status, it would never work out in a gang of outlaws because Dutch may have been the leader of the gang, but there was no social statuses.
One of the best things Rockstar did in RDR2 was set the atmosphere at the camp. You can feel the love and family closeness they have with each other in the first 2-3 chapters. Then chapter 4 onwards it slowly goes and when Molly gets killed you just feel the animosity everyone has for each other.

Best ending: Everything happens like it happens but, Arthur right before he died coughs on Micah and John doesn’t have to go beast mode on Mount Heagen and get the Pinkertons Attention
