She is pretty memorable to me. She was basically played by Dutch and I feel bad for her thinking she was living a high standard but in the end met her demise for being desperate.

Maaaaan the voice range of Dutch's actor is superb. He can do passionate speeches, corny flirting, or savage insults.
This game is cast so well because all of the actors have this kind of range, in my opinion.
This honestly gives so much more sad context to Molly’s death. Dutch’s indifference to her feelings made her so desperate to get back at Dutch, she lied just to gain satisfaction from making him feel betrayed. She gave up her life for a man who generally didn’t love her the way she wanted to be loved, as Abigail said.
Dutch and Miss Grimshaw had a similar romantic relationship, but Susan’s understanding of Dutch’s affection for her, and how basic and limited it was, kept her from feeling any offense when it wore off. And even then, sticking around Dutch too long costed her life as well.
Molly is honestly such an underrated character. Molly is the only one who hasn't grown up like them, she had it all and gave up it all for Dutch, of course she doesn't know how to help (or feel shame for certain things as according to her upbringing it's shameful). The other ones most likely treat her differently too because of her origins (Shaun does at one point at least)
I don't think she's rude, or particularly bad, just missunderstood.

Hanna G Yeah it is, but it’s also understanding why the rest of the gang push her away. Everyone else is working hard. All coming from shit parts of life. Sure her being from such a fine upbringing, made her not understand. But I too would have a hard time feeling for a stuck up brat in love with the gang leader, too good for work.

I think a lot of people forget that Dutch is almost twice Molly’s age, which would have created a power imbalance from the beginning. Not to mention he’s a very emotionally intelligent person who knows exactly how to play people to get what he wants. I’m sure at first Dutch was enamoured with Molly and likely manipulated her to some degree to leave her life of wealth and join him on the road. He just lost interest after that, because he never really loved her in the first place, but she definitely loved him.
And it’s not like Molly could just leave Dutch and go back to her old life, her reputation among the upper class would have been ruined as soon as she left. If she fell out with Dutch her only option was facing the world on her own with no money or supports.
Yeah she was snobby and never did any work, but that’s because Dutch never bothered to encourage her to learn any new skills. He never enforced her to work like the others which is how she got away with being lazy.
Yknow that’s basically what drove Dutch to “helping” Eagle Flies and his people. Those native Americans were naive and impressionable, probably like most of the gang at first. Dutch works best in relationships where he has power over them. Or yknow, thinks he has power, Micah played that part of him like a fiddle.

Has anyone ever noticed that molly slept on the bed in Dutch’s tent while Dutch usually sat on the edge or slept on the chair outside of his tent? My god, no wonder Dutch was going insane...
I wonder how Dutch fell asleep in that chair every night. That chair is definitely not comfortable, and that sleeping position is no exception. I wonder where Strauss, Pearson, and maybe Charles sleep?
Erik Allen Charles just sleeps on a bed roll with some things behind him and coverage, I’m not sure about Strauss nor Pearson, but I’d take it they’d probably sleep in tents. I think most of the gang members just sleep on the ground and some sleep on beds, but I can’t imagine how uncomfortable it would be to sleep on the ground or in a chair like Dutch

Molly is suffering from what we in the NPD survivor community call a "discard". when a narcissist grows tired of someone, they literally just stop caring about said person, and at 3:48- thats the inital reaction. Its really sad because molly really didnt do anything wrong to dutch, she just had the misfortune of meeting a Narcissist 100+ years before it would be accepted as an actual disorder. Its sad because when that happens to you, You really dont know what to do about it. "is it my Fault?" "Why dont i deserve his love?" "He does really love me still, Right?" you can get super far into your head with it, and unfortunately molly becomes an alcoholic because of her experience. Its a very real thing, and its very hard to go through.
I was going through the same thing during my play through and I related to her a lot in that sense. I felt so bad for her. I know she was lazy but she deserved better than what she got.

Exactly this. My ex was the same way. Love bombing at first and then I was dropped like an old shoe bc I wouldn't hate a game I actually loved. (My ex expected me to support ALL their opinions without question...and for a while I was so besotted that I did) Questioned myself for YEARS. Ala "I must have done SOMETHING, surely no game is worth throwing away someone who loves you?" It was bad. Which is why Molly's fate really hit me hard.
Those last two argument scenes between them felt like I was watching my parents... hits so close to home. Narcissists leave chaos and broken hearts and minds in their wake.

she simply didn't belong there. she's "high society", as karen says it. she's from a rich irish family, and wanted nothing from the extremely restricted life that was laid out for her before she was born. she wanted an adventure, and she sure got one. the whole point of rdr2 is to show the *deterioration* of the gang. the blackwater massacre was the beginning of the end. before that, before micah, everyone was happy. molly and dutch were a happy couple for a solid couple of years, at least that's what i got from it. dutch started to lose interest in molly as early as chapter 2, not even a quarter into the story, when he started hitting on mary-beth. who seemed to just play dumb, to probably avoid a mess that she knew would be inevitable. but of course by chapter 3, molly started to notice dutch moving his eyes in mary-beth's direction, more frequently. "i see you looking at her, dutch. you know who!". i think the whole point of molly o'shea (a partner of dutch in general) is another way for rockstar to show that dutch is slowly starting to show his real self and/or mentally deteriorating, hinting at the irrational trainwreck of a person he becomes as the story progresses. it subtly shows another side to him, one that will be present a lot more later on in the story, to a player that's only in chapter 2; when dutch seems completely level-headed.
another take of mine is that just maybe, mary-beth was created for this purpose alone. a beautiful, younger girl who is as sweet as can be and loves literature? dutch had done this before, by replacing susan for annabelle, then after annabelle died at the hands of colm o'driscoll it was molly. (it's interesting that rockstar chose susan to shoot molly, i think this was on purpose). also, mary-beth holds absolutely no weight in the main story.
tilly and karen both play substantial enough parts, albeit small. tilly deals with confrontations from her previous gang and participates in a few missions. karen takes part in a major bank robbery, also participates in a few missions, hooks up with sean, and being another representation of the gang deteriorating by drinking more as the story progresses, before presumably killing her. the only things mary-beth does is be eye candy to dutch (and many of y'all lol), aide in the destruction of dutch and molly's relationship, join arthur and sean on a stagecoach robbery side mission, give arthur information about a potential train robbery which arthur, john, charles and sean do later on, be lazy (for susan's standards), and to be a person for arthur to talk to in camp. we then find out in 1907 she becomes a successful romantic novelist. that's all she does in the whole game.
I just wish she got more to do outside of being Dutch’s love interest. She’s easily the most forgettable member of the gang.

molly was such a perfect storm: a high and mighty, rich snob, insecure and jealous, manipulated by dutch, whos end goal is always to feel superior to others. poor woman was just a toy for him to make himself feel better. i always feel so sad when - spoiler alert - she dies at the start of chapter 6. obviously a suicide attempt on her part.
I'm not sure if suicide was in Molly's mind at that point. Deep down I don't believe she would have cared, but I think she told those lies because she wanted a reaction out of Dutch because she never had gotten one before. And I think she would hope Dutch wouldn't kill her and that would show her a sign that he still cared in a way. She was obviously drunk at that point too and wasn't in her right mind. Had she not been drunk who knows what would have been said differently.

The best part of this is that Abigail states more than once that she doesn't know how to read but when Molly approaches her she just gets one of Jacks' books out and starts pretending to read just so she can leave he alone.

This really hits close home to me, because my parents had a very similar relationship.
My mother wanted love and attention, but my father ignored her most of the time. And even though he really was cheating on her, he responded to her suspicion with anger.

I’m interested in learning more about the Callander brothers and Jenny but if they want to (and they don’t need to) stick with the Redemption story Davey and Mac wouldn’t work. They are described as vicious bastards by Charles. One couldn’t save the other as they both died around the same time one die from a gut shot the other was shot and later tortured. I think the third game may abandon the redemption title and either focus on another game in a completely new map or Focus on Dutch Van Der Linde and the creation and the beginning of the end of the gang. Show us the Blackwater Massacre at the end. maybe they will add in real location like Chicago, Reno, Ohio but make it so they can’t be travelled back to like Ludendorff in GTAV I think that’s want most fans want any way and maybe the epilogue would be the creation and fall of Dutch’s gang in Cochinay

Grammar Police Ohio is where Dutch and Hosea do their first robbery and Chicago or somewhere in Illinois is where they find John Marston so they would have to do something with those locations.
I really like the Cromwell comment Dutch makes around the 3 minute mark. I know he was probably just referring to Cromwell being puritanical but he's also speaking to an Irishwoman - she'd swoon at the sound of him talking shit about Oliver Cromwell. Really nice detail and an example of how at his best, Dutch knows exactly what to say in order to work people.

Molly deserved so much better, not only was she manipulated. But she was also basically the female Bill of the camp. She tried to fit in and be nice but everyone was just a jerk to her. Even though her and Karen fought a lot you can clearly see that Karen realized how much Molly's been through in one of their last encounters at camp. She even had a whole argument with Grimshaw calling her a murderer and defending Molly
i love how Molly is the only one in camp who tells you the conversation is private but is also the only one who tries to reach out to Arthur for support about Dutch.
At the begining of one of the chapter 3 mission's she confesses her love for Dutch to Arthur, and we do not see her until chapter 6 during the missions

I think that Charlotte was perfect for Arthur, she accepted him with all his good and bad, it's a shame he didn't stay with her. Mary Linton just wanted Arthur when she had problems for him to solve,he had to live his life in her terms. Mary Beth was more of a little sister to Arthur,she cared about him but in never got to any romantic point.

John and Abigail’s romance develops entirely in reverse to Dutch and Molly’s. John slowly opens up more and accepts his role as a family man, while Dutch becomes more and more spiteful towards Molly and neglects her until she reaches a breaking point.
I’d say Abigail is certainly more likable than Molly to begin with since she actually contributes to the camp but it’s just a fun little detail I noticed

Dutch is a narcissist, so it makes sense that his relationship with Molly isn’t a good one. What we see in camp of her blowing up at him is honestly probably planned by Dutch, we don’t see the way he speaks to her in private so when he brings up one small thing it can be enough to set her off. That’s how he looks like the cool, calm, and collected one.
She was the one that had to sacrifice for him, he didn’t really lose anything to be with her. She’s naïve, and even though people tell her that Dutch isn’t good for her, she can’t listen because the hot and cold aspect with him is addictive.
He’s also so impersonal with her, calls her Miss O’Shea to remind her that she isn’t really anything to him. Dutch calls everyone son as well to remind them they’re under him. It’s deliberate.
I know I’m psychoanalyzing video game characters, but their relationship is meticulously thought out by the game developers and worth talking about. I think she’d have had more sympathy from players if she did more work around camp.
So true. And yes to that last bit about psychoanalyzing video game characters. I hate how some people get bothered by that, as if it's somehow "cringey" to acknowledge and discuss the very work and nuance that was put into the characterizations by the creative team. Understanding psychology is key to good character-driven writing; therefore, it's a part of appreciating and analyzing the final product - whether it's a video game or a film. 🤷🏽♀️
I still have sympathy for her because she clearly isn't supposed to be running with them. She's not like them at all and she sticks out so much. I suspect she became aware of this after some time which might explain why she starts having mental breakdowns by chapter 4. She probably felt very alone despite being around so many people.

Best summarized as, "Blinded by love." Seen a lot of people lose their minds over it, only in her case it wasn't just her mind but her life.
