Measuring the "price" of an oz of gold or silver is like saying "How long is an inch?" An inch is an inch. An oz of silver/gold, is an oz of silver/gold. IMO measuring ANYTHING in fiat dollars is like measuring a distance with an elastic ruler. You can stretch or contract it to make it say whatever you want. Fiat is infinite, therefore it can stretch to any length. Measuring anything in terms of fiat dollars is a psyop to discourage you. Stack on brethren!

This is how I think of it! Really cool to see others understand. I was curious the fiat price of gold in june 2001 when my grandpa passed away, and researched it real quick. When i saw that gold was $265-272 per ounce, I didn't think "wow that was cheap, I could have made a lot of money if i was buying gold at age 11" lol what I thought instead, was, "The US had not entered into two wars, had a national debt that was 20+ trillion or more lighter, China was much smaller in terms of military and global strength; Russia was recovering from the USSR collapse. No peer competitors to king dollar. So yea.
I'm leaving it for my son. In 20 years I will be 89, the Good Lord willing.

I sold 20 oz's when silver went up, I made 8 bucks an oz. and used it for Christmas so basically I traded my silver for Christmas presents. Then I added another Morgan dollar to my tube a few more and I'll fill it. I finished another tube of Walkers & started another tube of Benji's. So really I didn't sell anything for a profit I traded for other goods. I buy silver as a part of my preps. Prepare for what's coming get right with GOD buy plenty of precious metals lead,brass,steel & silver, gold. Plenty of food and home defense tools. Get into a mindset of self sustainability. Put GOD first. AMEN!!!!

Not true. A 1099b form will not be sent to the IRS depending on the quantity and where it's minted from (see link below) but the individual is still expected to pay capital gains tax.

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. The point I was making was that it preserves and simply is in proportion to all the other assets being gauged in the fiat. The real problem is our fiat currency which is controlled by a few and not the people.
