- First shake down rip on my restored 16ft Bass Tracker with a 40hp Johnson. After rebuilding the transom, epoxying the hull, painting the engine, and much more, it's finally, time to check out all my hard work on this 16ft Bass tracker. This will be the first time I have ever had it on the water! Top speed run is always priority, and the results shocked me!!

well worth the work....nice benny
Thanks! More videos in the future on this boat I'm sure.
Look at that baby rip! Good job Benny!
Thanks! It did rip man! I was very happy, need to adjust the timing a little more.
just great diy//////back to the Datsun
These trackers boats with a small motor move really good 😊
You the man,without a doubt
Hey now!!! Thank you! 😂
Very nice, you did a great job.
Thank you Ronald!
I've always been a Mercury outboard, but I also had an '89 16' Tracker with that same Johnson outboard. That was a strong running little motor. Trimmed up, it would easily run 34 mph.
This one will scoot pretty good!
Wow, that's a little over 26 knots and it sits great in the water too. Good job and thank you Benny!!!!
Thanks Tom, I was impressed with this little rig.
I would name her “Scooter!” Nice boat, I have a 32 Hatteras and sometimes miss the simple things I also have twin BIg block Chevys and get 1 gallon per mile per engine!! Sluuuurp!
I have a 1983 bass tracker classic 16ft and originally had a 40 horse Yamaha and it ran about 34 mph . Since then I completely stripped the boat and replaced all the wood and foam and turned it into a tiller drive. So now the boat doesn't have the console or bench seat or back deck or original livewell and I bought a 40 hp tiller hopefully it hits high 30s
I put my 1991 pro v16 tracker in at the peninsula every week lol. I also have a 40 hp with no power trim. Loaded with 2 men runs a steady 28 mph.
Nice job Benny! The boat came out really nice. I noticed you didn't use the powertrim to get a better top speed. While at speed, trim the motor up. This lifts the front of the boat reducing drag. You might get another 5mph or so. Also set the engine so the cavitation plate above the prop is on plane with the boat bottom. Check your prop to be sure it is cupped along the trailling edge out to the tips. That helps to reduce cavitation and increase speed. I think with these changes you will pick up 8 to 10 mph. Great work! see you on the next one. Dave
Thanks Dave! Appreciate all the info!
Wow that's awesome, I wonder if the spray coming out more on the left is because the prop is turning clockwise, could it be deeper in the water?
Thanks! The spray was from the depth finder I think.
Nice! when i was 15 this is all i wanted in the world! The prop makes the difference for takeoff --- probably a skiing prop.
I like the way the prop is set up for sure, I really like this little boat!
Well what prop is it!?
Wanna but a 1998 Regal LSR 1900 , Volvo 4.3 with upholstery issues ? Otherwise great boat and it's in Kentucky
I like the low floor in that boat I have Crestliner 16 foot with only 20 hp (state lake limits boats to 20hp) but the deck is high I'd rather be lower like that. with one person I can get up to 20 to 22 mph depending on propeller.
Totally agree with the low floor that's why I got it, I don't like getting up and down from the decks to fish.
You ain't gonna get it up on plane with that there trolling motor, KY. 🤣
Guess not... 😂😂
@@kentuckyyankee Actually you'll find it more than adequate for trolling in still waters like in coves and on small ponds.
@theamerican7080 That's what I was thinking too, I was out deep can't tell how fast I'm moving.
Stainless steel prop will get you about 3 to 5 mph increase in speed. Also burns less fuel at cruise.
I actually have one I think.
Before watching, I will say 28mph, that is what my 40hp Yamaha normally pushes, although I have hit 30
28 MPH.
I guess same top speed as an nc50. 28 mph.
Peninsula?
Yep
I thought you might be local to me. Great job on the boat.
@@jeramystephens74 Thank you!
hmm boat does not look too heavy id guess about 30 i think your trailer hitch needs some oil LOL
Little oil would hurt 😂😂
You need a fishing friend to offset!!!! Great video and Job well done!!
Thank you! Fishing friends aren't hard to find 😂😂
