    I just purchased this receiver to upgrade from my old Denon AVR-590 that I purchased for dirt cheap 6 years ago used, and that still works great. After setting it up, I was not impressed at all. As a matter of fact, my Denon sounds better. At the moment, I only have a 5.1 speaker setup, so the extra channels are useless. I also do not need all the extra music streaming and Bluetooth features in my dedicated TV room. I have other rooms dedicated to listening to music. My 1970s pioneer setup in my basement bar puts Onkyo to shame for music. I will be taking it back to Best Buy in the morning and switching back to the Denon. I will spend the money to upgrade my speakers and sub. Eventually, I will probably get another high-end Denon with more channels. This video has convinced me of my decision.

    Totally wrong on all points. Crutchfield still sells this AVR today in 2022. The only problem I had with mine was that it felt a bit warm over the vents on the HDMI board. I purchased 2 AC Infinity fans and run them on low. Receiver is now cool to the touch. The Denon that the Onkyo replaced had over heating problems at the power supply and shut off time to time. I would recommend to everyone to get one or two AC Infinity fans to put on top of a receiver, they only costed $27 with tax and delivery. You can not hear them them run on low and medium speeds and are on rubber feet to keep them from moving due to heavy bass output. The Onkyo has a usb plug in for them and the fans turn off and on with the receiver.

    • @moubear32
      @moubear32  Před rokem

      Ok. So the denon x2700 is the model I have, which also has an overheating issue which is solved by pressing the eco button on the remote. It does however depend on the model and serial number of this product that you own. The onkyo not only was defective but not user friendly at all. FYI. Onkyo is now out of business. Yes they do now sell this model on Crutchfield again, then again Crutchfield also sells other products that are known to be defective or unsatisfactory as well (no fault of their own) so it is completely to the discretion of the consumer. This review, no matter how "wrong on all points" you think it is, is both accurate and conclusive with most other reviews of the same product. My denon is outstanding and very much worth the buy. Thank you for watching. 👍

    I’ve had my TXNR 656 for six years. No issues. Dunno. I think there’s issues with all brands now, potentially. Things are made on the cheap now, on average.
    But I can’t say there’s been any major issues with mine. I’m actually going to sell it, as I just bought a TXNR 6050. That’s the Costco one from last year in the US only. Haven’t set it up yet - fingers crossed. But yeah, no problems with Onkyo and for the price, sound quality, features, you can’t go wrong. For a Denon in the same price, the Onkyo sounds better and has more features. Maybe if you’re spending $2000.00 I’d go Marantz, but Onkyo has the RZ70, which is likely a better choice.

    I found that home theater receivers (also referred to as av receivers) don’t last as long as 2 channel receivers regardless of brand.

    • @moubear32
      @moubear32  Před rokem

      Ir really does depend on the brand. Most good denons will last a good 5 years. Maybe longer if built properly. If it's built poorly, not even a year. At a higher end 5 years or longer. All receivers are not the same across the board. Onkyo just took too many shortcuts. To your point. In all my years working with receivers, I've never heard of 2 channels lasting longer, especially since there are still old component receivers that function like new Today. Remember, I have a little over 18 years experience with home theater.

    • @moubear32
      @moubear32  Před rokem

      You should also keep in my that 2 channels can't handle all of the mids highs and lows, thus the reason they actually die sooner or in layman's terms, blow, because of their inability to handle all of the different ranges of sound.

    Well this is really disheartening news, because I just bought this one, 250 off regular price. I have always been a Denon fan but my current Denon receiver does not output 4k video and I refuse to spend more than a thousand bucks on a receiver - I already have 6 useless ones that I had to upgrade every three years to keep up with new technology - most of them were a thousand bucks - or near to it. I don't stream music - listening to music on a smartphone is no way to hear music, and especially not for watching movies. Now, what do I do before opening the box? Take it back? or take the risk it may die in four months to a year, or even work at all. Oh wait, I think I have a month to test it and remind myself that I'll have to buy another one in three years anyways - like I always have had to.
